I am so confused now. What message is he giving? We're in Lockdown and he's having a costa. I had a close look at the picture and it doesn't look like one of those fill them up at home cups. I'm moving planets.

I'm not trying to bash Boris at all.

And yet you started this thread.

bettybattenburg · 09/05/2020 20:29

Lots of government departments have them.

What?! That's an appalling waste of money. We weren't even allowed water coolers at work because was not allowed to use school budgets to provide anything at all for staff. We had one about 8 years ago but it was removed, we were only lucky enough to have a kettle because one of the parents who volunteered saw we were without one and bought us one for Xmas one year.

IsolatedIzzy · 09/05/2020 20:29

There are 2 extremes on here at the moment! Either buying a Costa coffee should be punishable by death V we should all be back at work & school by 9.00Am Monday morning after Boris speaks to the Nation tomorrow night!

It's just ridiculous! 🙄

iklboo · 09/05/2020 20:30

We've got a costa machine at work. It's not free. You still have to pay for it.

returnofthemollymawks · 09/05/2020 20:30

I'm not trying to bash Boris at all.

Shame.

You have to pay for them, they are franchisees so at no cost to the government at all. In fact they probably make a % or something for allowing them on site; either way, they don't do free coffee, staff pay for them.

sayanara · 09/05/2020 20:35

This is about the third time this week he has been pictured walking through a park with a Costa coffee. Why is everyone suddenly commenting this time?

JellyfishandShells · 09/05/2020 20:37

You are utterly deranged,OP - or scraping the barrel for something unpleasant to say. Or both.

IcedPurple · 09/05/2020 20:38

"Boris and a Costa" sounds a bit like a kid's story.

One sunny day, a fat man walked in the park with a Costa....

Seriously, OP, why not just pour yourself a nice glass of vino and chill.

MissTemple · 09/05/2020 20:41

I’ve had to continue to go into work full time, I leave about 6.30am, I go into a garage on the way and get a Costa from the machine. There is usually just me there and the lovely people who also continue to work there.

I want the coffee as it’s still for sale, I buy it.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 09/05/2020 20:43

He was out for exercise and bought a take away coffee. Both entirely within the actual guidelines.

But not within the MN rules obviously which as you must know by now are completely different to the government guidelines.

Butteredtoast55 · 09/05/2020 20:46

My take away from this thread is that there's a Costa franchise at Number 10. Who knew?!
Anyway I give zero f*'s about a man on a break from work (judging by the suit) walking through the park drinking coffee. Get a bloody grip, OP.

user200000000 · 09/05/2020 20:48

I so want a latte. Prefer Neros though, but a costa would do.

Fluffybutter · 09/05/2020 20:49

Oh for Christ’s sake ..

hellsbells99 · 09/05/2020 20:49

Ffs Op........are you normally this stupid?

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 09/05/2020 20:52

It's some new form of rhyming slang.

'Boris is avvin a Costa...'

Costa Brava - What a palaver
Costa Blanca - What a wanker
Costa Coffee - Old Etonian Toff-ee

?????

GabsAlot · 09/05/2020 20:55

i couldnt give a crap personally-they sell them in hospitals does that mean doctors shouldnt get one either

sonjadog · 09/05/2020 20:56

Where is he going to with his coffee? Does he not live in the same place as he works?

saraclara · 09/05/2020 20:56

I can confirm that Cabinet Office and No.10 have Costa coffee franchises. So do many other government departments.

Yes. The man (who I can't stand, yet here I am defending him) was at work. He had a break to walk outdoors and clear his head, and picked up a coffee at his workplace, to take with him.

OP are you now going to say that there's a rule that people at work can't a) take a break in the park and b) drink a coffee on that break?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 09/05/2020 20:58

@sonjadog yes he does, but he's allowed out for a walk!

Sedona123 · 09/05/2020 21:00

MamaBear - you're being a twat. Costa never needed to close. They could have continued doing takeaway coffees, so buying one isn't against the lockdown guidelines.

Also, Boris has already had Covid, so isn't at risk of catching or spreading the virus by taking a socially distanced walk and getting a coffee anyway.

sonjadog · 09/05/2020 21:00

If I were him and just going for a walk, I would take off the suit and put on something more comfy before I went out.

Willow2017 · 09/05/2020 21:01

My supermarket has a barista bar re-opened. I get a coffee there on my break because its the only drinkable coffee in the place! I go outside to drink it. Shoot me now.

Drivingdownthe101 · 09/05/2020 21:01

sonjadog why?! I often go for walks at work when I get 10 mins between meetings or at lunchtime. Never change out of my suit for them!

SusieOwl4 · 09/05/2020 21:03

If I was out for my exercise and I saw an ice cream van I would buy one . Shoot me now.
