Boris and a costa?

I am so confused now. What message is he giving? We're in Lockdown and he's having a costa. I had a close look at the picture and it doesn't look like one of those fill them up at home cups. I'm moving planets.

OP posts:
PinkiOcelot · 10/05/2020 10:06

There’s Costa machines in nearly all of the petrol stations around here.
If he’d been seen lugging a bag of cement or a couple of tins of paint, fair enough.

lljkk · 10/05/2020 10:13

DIY shops are legally open too, though. FFS, if it's not legal to possess these things then they shouldn't be sold at all.

SoupDragon · 10/05/2020 10:28

maybe it was insensitive.

How?

Peggysgettingcrazy · 10/05/2020 10:29

although as PM maybe it was insensitive.

To who?

Baaaahhhhh · 10/05/2020 11:01

Sorry, I still don't get it.

How on earth is it "insensitive" to have a walk in a park, allowed, with a coffee, allowed, on a break from work, allowed. Everyone is allowed to do that, and always has been.

Maybelatte · 10/05/2020 11:03

As many others have said, you can buy shit versions of Costa in lots of corner shops and garages.

sonjadog · 10/05/2020 11:39

I don´t get what being left wing has to do with it. I am left wing and I have no problem with Boris having a coffee in the park. I think it is a more a "people following their own made-up stricter rules/ people following government guidelines" thing. Unsurprisingly, Boris is following the government guidelines.

SleepingStandingUp · 10/05/2020 12:05

and no clue about every day life for British people I disagree in principle but I'm not convinced this is exemplified by him drinking coffee and walking, which anyone is allowed to do

borntohula · 10/05/2020 12:10

So, no one should have anything they enjoy during 'lockdown?' Boris has had a hard time recently, I'm no massive fan but surely he of all people deserves a takeout coffee? Hmm

SleepingStandingUp · 10/05/2020 12:12

I was under the impression that we were just doing 'essential shopping?'
I'd love to see your shopping list for the last two months of lockdown

maybe it was insensitive. to whom? The only people who "can't" do what he did Re people who are shielding. If kill for a Costa and a walk through the park, I'm not offended

SomewhereEast · 10/05/2020 12:17

I'm a lefty Labour-voting Remainer & even I don't get the faff about this. Let Boris have his coffee.

Lemonblast · 10/05/2020 12:20

Poor fucker might have been awake all night doing night feeds. Wink

Dodgytrousers · 10/05/2020 12:31

Sonja

I think it's because it's a constant attack on the Conservatives on this site, which is indeed a site that heavy leans towards the left.

There are always so many nasty and unnecessary comments. I'm surprised that it's allowed to take care place to be honest.

Tommorrowsanewday · 10/05/2020 12:51

Sometimes if I’m running short of milk I combine my daily exercise by walking to the local shop. When there, I may also buy a cup of coffee. Am I breaking any rules OP?

TeacupDrama · 10/05/2020 14:15

@Tommorrowsanewday if you run short of milk you should either use water or grated cheese, seriously a week or so ago someone suggested you should grate cheese into coffee as milk substitute as cheese is made from milk Grin

Saints13 · 10/05/2020 14:41

Other coffee brands are possibly available.

You cannot have one if you are dead, and fewer people would be dead now if Mr Johnson had acted sooner in February and March, and there was adequate PPE and testing.

LittleBearPad · 10/05/2020 14:57

a flippant item

I love this phrase.

Would love a Costa coffee too - excellent advertising OP.

I might get one next time I’m in the local garage.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 10/05/2020 15:10

Well I hadn't heard the grated cheese in coffee thing but the other day people were shouting about cheese not being essential and you shouldn't pop to the shop and buy it, or milk, or bread. People are bonkers

DurhamDurham · 10/05/2020 16:13

Next time I meet my daughter for coffee (when it's allowed, of course) we'll be buying a couple of the flippant items as coffee will be known from now on Grin

Lemonblast · 10/05/2020 16:24

I’m sensing a market for cheesy coffees

MrsJoshNavidi · 10/05/2020 16:27

We have a costa machine where I work. You don't need to interact with anyone.

DurhamDurham · 10/05/2020 16:39

I’m sensing a market for cheesy coffees

I'm not entirely sure that they're going to take off Grin

cologne4711 · 10/05/2020 16:42

Why is it irresponsible to get a take away coffee as part of your shop

This. Or while you are out for a walk.

But it's like all the frothing on here about people buying newspapers every day.

As I've said a lot on here, worry about your own compliance with the rules and forget other people. It does not affect you if someone sunbathes, buys wallpaper in B&Q or collects a parcel from a friend's driveway.

NameChangeNugget · 10/05/2020 16:45

Some people get very excited over absolutely fucking nothing

LittleBearPad · 10/05/2020 18:30

True Nugget but imagine how quiet MN would be if they didn’t
