Boris and a costa?

I am so confused now. What message is he giving? We're in Lockdown and he's having a costa. I had a close look at the picture and it doesn't look like one of those fill them up at home cups. I'm moving planets.

I don’t think Boris has done anything wrong but it’s strange how one post on here says it’s fine and others are telling people they are murderers

It's probably the same people. If you buy two items your a murderer, but if you have a opinion on the matter your a nasty arsehole. In fact if you think or post on MN your certainly in the wrong 100% 😂

ThisHereMamaBear · 09/05/2020 19:26

@Bumsnet1 i buy these items during my weekly shop. I wouldn't go to the shop to just get one of these items. I'm not happy to risk my health or the poor workers who are risking their health. Still, at least you get your treats.

There is no essential shopping rule. You're just supposed to go shopping as seldom as possible. If a shop is selling something you can buy it. You can live on champagne and chocolate if you want to.

Wasn't there a thread on here where somebody claimed that buying milk for a toddler wasn't "essential". You don't have to starve for a few days before going to buy bread and dripping.

People can drink coffee and they can walk in parks. Why shouldn't Boris do it too?

PurpleDaisies · 09/05/2020 19:27

Why should he be in lockdown? He's already had the virus.

The guidelines don’t change depending on whether you’ve had the virus or not.

JemimaPuddleCat · 09/05/2020 19:27

Sorry what are you talking about? You saw Boris Johnson walking through a park with a Costa coffee? Did you say anything to him?

pussycatinboots · 09/05/2020 19:27

HappyHammy erm, no tap in your house?

Gingerkittykat · 09/05/2020 19:28

I love bashing big Boris but even I can't see anything to get upset about here.

ThisHereMamaBear · 09/05/2020 19:28

@BirdieFriendReturns but presumably you don't have the country looking at you? Just for the record though, if I saw you going into a shop to buy just a take away coffee, yep, I would have the same opinion.

You can argue that 90% of the food you buy at the supermarket as part of your food shop is ‘none essential’.

Place your bets now that the heckler was a Labour activist

So..it might have been. It might not.

No issue with him having a Costa coffee

Great picture though. It yells for a caption

Boris and a costa?
ChipotleBlessing · 09/05/2020 19:29

It’s a reusable cup. He hasn’t been to Costa. Also, let Diane drink a G and T if she fancies it.

Gingerkittykat · 09/05/2020 19:29

Mind you his Twitter was telling people to stay home over the bank holiday weekend, a day after he had folk out partying in the street so we can bash him for that.

BirdieFriendReturns · 09/05/2020 19:29

If a coffee shop is allowed to be open why can’t people buy a coffee?

HappyHammy · 09/05/2020 19:30

Are you the man who took a pop at him in the park.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 09/05/2020 19:30

You don't have to onky if part of a weekly shop.

Where has anyone ever said you can't get a takeaway coffee?

Or is that just a rule you made up?

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 09/05/2020 19:30

Even though we haven't seen him much recently he's got a new baby at home, recovering from being hospital and probably has lots of meetings to attend like for VE Day yesterday. Even if he'd picked one up from a drive through or machine at Tesco/petrol station, no judgement here.

Stannisbaratheonsboxofmatches · 09/05/2020 19:30

I think it’s fine. And it’s nice to see politicians walking around normally.

I’m not a Boris fan but I can’t get worked up about this. Especially as he knows he’s had it and can’t spread it or pick it up!

ThisHereMamaBear · 09/05/2020 19:30

@feelingverylazytoday nice.

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 09/05/2020 19:31

Takeaways are allowed to operate. As long as workers and customers are safe, it is perfectly reasonable

felineflutter · 09/05/2020 19:31

It does set the tone. Boris thinks things should go back to normal but his hands are tied maybe ?

Peggysgettingcrazy · 09/05/2020 19:31

@Gingerkittykat Boris had peolle partying out in the street?

Really?

Billben · 09/05/2020 19:31

You are clutching at straws trying to justify yourself OP. You are being ridiculous. How do you know he didn’t buy a few essential items when he bought his coffee?
You’ve got too much time on your hands as my DH would say 😀

Wishforsnow · 09/05/2020 19:31

I've been getting cocktails delivered from my local pub, way better than just a Costa! OP if they sell it in the shop you can buy it. You should ridiculous and clearly looking to find anything to berate Boris for. Surely you can come up with better than this.

TheYellowOfTheEgg · 09/05/2020 19:32

Gingerkittykat - Johnson didn't tell anyone to "party in the street".

The VE Day bank holiday was planned well in advance and an anniversary happens when it happens.
