Boris and a costa?

I am so confused now. What message is he giving? We're in Lockdown and he's having a costa. I had a close look at the picture and it doesn't look like one of those fill them up at home cups. I'm moving planets.

OP posts:
BirdieFriendReturns · 09/05/2020 19:44

We have a subsidised coffee shop selling Costa in my government office. Well it’s more of a coffee stand than an actual shop.

HavelockVetinari · 09/05/2020 19:45

I judge the pm of this country for having a Costa when a few weeks back he was ill in hospital

GrinGrin

I had my appendix out the day before yesterday, and I went out for an ice cream today whilst observing proper social distancing. Shock Shoot me now!

Willow2017 · 09/05/2020 19:45

Several shops have costa machines, garages too.
A walk in the park is not breaking any rules neither is drinking coffee.
Are people just looking for something to froth at no matter how ridiculous it is just to post about it?

Disillusioned4now · 09/05/2020 19:46

I agree with you OP. And I think there have been some very unkind and ridiculous comments. In 6 weeks I managed to only go shopping once because I decided not putting lives at risk was worth learning to live without bread and switching to herbal tea, black coffee or almond or oat milk. I made excellent use of my freezer and tins and unfortunately on that ONE shopping trip out I caught coronavirus and my parents have been doing my shopping since as I'm now too ill. It absolutely baffles me how people are stretching the rules to serve themselves and think that popping out for whatever they happen to fancy is responsible behaviour and anything but selfish. If that isn't a takeaway cup then I think you're right to think that the PM should be setting a better example.

DuesToTheDirt · 09/05/2020 19:46

he walked through a park with a flippant item.

This has to be a wind up!

SonjaMorgan · 09/05/2020 19:46

He wants you all to go out and spend money on non essentials. Then it will be the public's fault and not his when the second wave hits hards.

OP has a point. Either it is essential shopping and trips or not. We have been making do and going without whilst others swan about getting takeaway coffee and buying paint from b&q.

Only a few weeks ago I pointed out that one person's essentials were different to another. Posters were told they were going to murder people if they went out for a newspaper and pint of milk.

Boris needs to set an example, he should be making clear rules and sticking to them.

PolloDePrimavera · 09/05/2020 19:47

He has a new baby, probably tired. He's just been seriously ill and is now back at work, probably tired. He's running the country which is going through a bit of a shitstorm, probably tiring.
He's wearing a suit (admittedly I can't imagine he'd do leisurewear), he doesn't look like he's about to take a rowing boat out and indulge in a picnic.
As PP said, if an item is available for sale, one can assume we are allowed to buy it.

Whenwillthisbeover · 09/05/2020 19:47

Costa is available all over even in a lockdown, DD gets one every day at the hospital she works at! She also has a reusable cup that looks just like Boris’ cup.

Glittertwins · 09/05/2020 19:47

If it's a reusable cup, he could have filled it at home before heading out

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/05/2020 19:48

Costa coffees so shite, I can never understand why it’s so popular.

Sandybval · 09/05/2020 19:48

This is seriously pathetic. You can get a coffee, more than likely someone bought it for him, but even if he did get it himself you are able to. He was walking to work when he could have insisted on going in a vehicle in close proximity to him. The guy pointing looks like a knob, no idea what he was ranting about but finger pointing is really rude. Who does he think he is? Yes a lot has been done what I would consider the wrong way (but what do I know), and I hope that when this is done it's investigated; but people need to grow up.

BovaryX · 09/05/2020 19:48

baffles me how people are stretching the rules

Walking through a park with a coffee is not stretching the rules. The faux outrage about this is beyond bizarre.

NotAnotherUserNumber · 09/05/2020 19:49

@ThisHereMamaBear

Why did he choose today to walk through a park with a take away coffee?

Perhaps he needed a break from working hard all weekend and wanted to get some air and clear his head for a few moments?

BirdieFriendReturns · 09/05/2020 19:50

There is no rule about buying non-essential items or going to a coffee shop.

DominaShantotto · 09/05/2020 19:50

Has no one scientifically zoomed in on the cup lid yet? The machine cups that are in petrol stations and the like have a slightly different lid. Might be able to tell if he literally killed an old person or just literally killed a robot if you devote enough time to it.

I've been getting a vending machine one and a bacon cob from the local petrol station on the way back from morning exercise along with a paper.

Boris is an incompetent twat - today he just happens to be an incompetent twat with a Costa coffee cup.

BovaryX · 09/05/2020 19:51

Then it will be the public's fault and not his when the second wave hits hards

I don't know what Planet Machiavelli you inhabit, but can you explain why you think it would benefit Boris Johnson if there was a second wave which killed a significant number of people?

Cremebrule · 09/05/2020 19:51

He’s PM, has a new baby and has been seriously ill. If anyone needs a coffee it’s probably him. There are plenty of other things to criticise him for, coffee isn’t one of them.

Marpan · 09/05/2020 19:53

Of course he needs costa. He needs a triple
Shot.

He’s got brexit, covid and A NEWBORN.

He needs ALL the coffee

Thedogscollar · 09/05/2020 19:53

This is too ludicrous to comment so I won't Grin

derxa · 09/05/2020 19:53

Maybe it's a dig at Nicola who asked if queuing for a drive through coffee was absolutely necessary. Grin

Frozenfan2019 · 09/05/2020 19:53

you want to get annoyed at Boris maybe focus on the disgusting levels of inequality in this country or the fact the NHS has been massively funded by the Tories for the last decade, rather then the fact the man has bought a coffee!

^^ this

Thread after thread criticising this shitty government yet they would get voted in again if we had another election. Why are you criticising him for having a coffee and not for failing to adequately prepare for a pandemic?

Willow2017 · 09/05/2020 19:54

but he walked through a park with a flippant item. Nothing essential about a Costa
Seriously?
Well i expect a spike in cases in 2 weeks all because someone bought a coffee. It must be true
because i just wrote it made it up

The message he is giving is panic over everyone, back to normal life.
No actually take away has always been allowed did you miss that part at the very beginning of lockdown? He probably got it at home anyway or a Security guy brought him it from the local garage.

What the hell happened to common sense?

Sandybval · 09/05/2020 19:54

We have a subsidised coffee shop selling Costa in my government office. Well it’s more of a coffee stand than an actual shop.

I'm so conflicted as to whether it's really good coffee, or just because it's at work it seems better because everything else is pretty dull. I think I spent most of my wages when I first joined on iced lattes and then Christmas drinks. Assuming all of the franchise ones are similar!

JessicaDay · 09/05/2020 19:56

Not sure I’m be putting my mouth on one of those takeaway cup lids if it’s been sitting out in a supermarket/office coffee station.

Unravellingslowly · 09/05/2020 19:56

Well

I can confirm that Cabinet Office and No.10 have Costa coffee franchises. So do many other government departments

But even if not then

Several shops have costa machines, garages too.
A walk in the park is not breaking any rules neither is drinking coffee.
Are people just looking for something to froth at no matter how ridiculous it is just to post about it?

Ffs I’m nhs and wearing mask, gloves, face shield each day but, seriously, he can get a socially distanced Costa.
