I am so confused now. What message is he giving? We're in Lockdown and he's having a costa. I had a close look at the picture and it doesn't look like one of those fill them up at home cups. I'm moving planets.

I haven't had a costa since early March.....because all Costa's are closed, it is not an essential purchase, a journey to get one would be non-essential and I am not allowed to leave my house.
Double standards!

KingJarvis · 09/05/2020 21:36

it impacts my life when people interpret the pm going for a jolly walk with a coffee in hand as a sign of let's not worry anymore. Like I said, would he have done this on day 1 of lockdown?

Well, yes because it was ALLOWED!

SleepingStandingUp · 09/05/2020 21:38

Looks like a reusable cup to me.

Snowjive2 · 09/05/2020 21:38

I hope his Costa burned his tiny hands. He has very small hands.

We are being gaslighted. He shows himself walking through a park with a coffee, not a care in the world. Then tomorrow announces that restrictions continue. Classic mixed messaging.
When the confused public follow suit and there’s a spike in cases/deaths, it’ll be our own fault. You’ll see.

KingJarvis · 09/05/2020 21:40

It’s not mixed messages. At all.

sonjadog · 09/05/2020 21:41

The queues at Costa will be down the street tomorrow, I tell you.

Snowjive2 · 09/05/2020 21:42

Yes. It is. No 10 leaked the material that led to Thursday’s headlines.

Confused
SleepingStandingUp · 09/05/2020 21:42

...because all Costa's are closed, it is not an essential purchase, a journey to get one would be non-essential the place I buybread from sells Costa. And my kitchen makes one if I put it in my reusable cup.
and I am not allowed to leave my house. by that logic if he'd been empty handed and in jogging pants out for a run he'd still be doing stuff you can't. He isn't shielding, you are. The standards are different.

Summersunandoranges · 09/05/2020 21:43

Your allowed to walk to places! Your allowed a bloody coffee!

SleepingStandingUp · 09/05/2020 21:44

When the confused public follow suit you can go for a walk. Given his health, a walk is acceptable exercise. A jog is likely to be contrary to medical advice.

Kortnee · 09/05/2020 21:44

I think there may be a correlation between tiny hands and shit leadership.

Just a theory.

Mulhollandmagoo · 09/05/2020 21:44

Coffee is so essential to me as a parent with young children that if I don’t have a coffee in the morning it’s a crisis and I dial 999.

This is very true! I have a teething ten month old, and on our daily exercise we walk past a garage with a Costa machine in that I have used a couple of times in an effort to make myself feel vaguely more human.

Boris has done many things wrong during this pandemic....buying a Costa isn't one of them, all food outlets are allowed to stay open for takeaway/delivery only, he hasn't broken the rules here

Snowjive2 · 09/05/2020 21:44

And led people to believe that doing the conga was ok so long as they were 2m behind each other? This is not a system you can play. It’s a virus that eats your chest.

Summersunandoranges · 09/05/2020 21:45

I always though small hands meant something else Blush

Snowjive2 · 09/05/2020 21:46

He wasn’t doing his daily exercise for goodness sake! It was St James Park - he was there to be seen. Why are people so naive?

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 09/05/2020 21:46

Not read the whole thread, but hasn't Costa re-opened for drive throughs?
So we're allowed to go to Costa.
(I personally don't as I'm always terminally skint and I bloody hate coffee anyway lol)

SleepingStandingUp · 09/05/2020 21:46

Small penis @Summersunandoranges?

Drivingdownthe101 · 09/05/2020 21:48

It was allowed in day one of lockdown. However most places had decided to close. So it wouldn't matter.

So what if people see the photo and do the same? Buying a takeaway coffee and going for a walk are allowed.

But, Plenty of people, got drunk last night and forgot social distancing. That doesn't mean the rest of us are going to do it tonight.

And no one said your purchases have yo be essential only.

Thats never been said, never had an essential list given. You are just making it up.

A journey can be essential and you can stop for Costa. Besides which he was having a walk, which is OK too

ilovesooty · 09/05/2020 21:48

I loathe and despise Johnson but this thread is ridiculous.
