to not see any redeeming characteristics in Donald Trump?

I have just finished a book "Very Stable Genius" by two reporters from the Washington Post, who have been covering Donald Trump's presidency. The picture that emerges from that book (and other things I have read) is of man of no redeeming characteristics. He is bad tempered, narcissistic, revels in his ignorance, is petty, and a bully to boot.

People who work with him (even those who share a conservative world view) seem to not be able to stand him because of his character as a human being.

AIBU to not see any redeeming characteristics in him? Are there any?

You dont know that he doesnt love his kids, and you have a sick mind to say he fancies one of them

isabellerossignol · 08/05/2020 20:17

you have a sick mind to say he fancies one of them

It was his own words, he said is he wasn't her father...

isabellerossignol · 08/05/2020 20:17

Sorry, that should say 'if he wasn't her father'

SeaEagleFeather · 08/05/2020 20:21

^ When Donald Trump was watching his 16-year-old daughter Ivanka host the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant, he turned to the then-Miss Universe and asked: “Don’t you think my daughter’s hot? She’s hot, right?”

Mr Trump has called his eldest daughter “voluptuous”. He’s said it’s OK to describe her as “a piece of ass”. And he’s said that, if she wasn’t his daughter, “perhaps [he’d] be dating her”.

...“After I met Ivanka and praised her to her father, he said, ‘Yeah, she's really something, and what a beauty, that one. If I weren't happily married and, ya know, her father . . .’”
Rolling Stone interview, September 2015

September 2016 The Republican was discussing long-awaited details about his health, and was joined on stage for the pre-record by Ivanka. After they kissed, the host commented: “It’s nice to see a dad kiss his daughter.” According to several studio witnesses, Mr Trump replied that he kisses Ivanka “with every chance [he] gets”.

Sounds very like he's sizing her up to me. Creepy as all fuck.

he had 3 wives Maria Marple was his second wife (she was his mistress while he was married to his first & had a daughter)
Politics is taught within several subjects at school & you can do a degree or a combination degree on it (PPE for example Politics, Philosophy & Economics) or within other degrees like Sociology.
He hates minorities - his treatment & comments on Native Americans are a case in point. He has taken away the rights of many voters by playing around with the system so if people don't have settled housing they cant vote. His treatment of people who have lived as worthwhile citizens but as migrants & his treatment of children is beyond inhuman. I doubt he would be a friend to Roma or any other Gypsy/Traveller group going on his record & attitude to anyone who isn't mainstream Western European white
As others state his redeeming feature is that he isn't immortal

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 08/05/2020 20:33

@isadoradancing123 - what do you think about @SeaEagleFeather's post?

MissConductUS · 08/05/2020 20:37

Yank here.

Of course he's awful, but the real problem is our political system that so easily puts forward awful candidates. His only merit was that Hillary was such a terrible candidate for so many reasons. And now it's happening again. Joe Biden seems like a perfectly nice guy but again, a really weak candidate. Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, would kick Trumps arse into next week but he won't be on the ballot.

isadoradancing123 · 08/05/2020 20:40

Well i never heard any of that and if its true then yes, he is as evil as you all say

NetballHoop · 08/05/2020 20:58

@ToPlanZ Yes to everything you said.

For anyone who hasn't seen this and still thinks he's a decent human watch the video in this: twitter.com/i/status/1081528992484610048

B1rdbra1n · 08/05/2020 21:32

Sounds very like he's sizing her up to me
he wants her to bear his child in order to keep the bloodline pure

B1rdbra1n · 08/05/2020 22:12

if she wasn’t his daughter
what he means is if he could get away with it he would have sex with her

Don’t you think my daughter’s hot? She’s hot, right?
offering her up to other men, like some pimp
He clearly thinks about her in sexual terms

Lordfrontpaw · 08/05/2020 22:14

🙈

Voice0fReason · 08/05/2020 22:20

He's driven.
Only in his own self-service.

He's confident.
Dunning Kruger

He wants the best for his country and won't accept anything less.
He has absolutely no interest in the country, he is only interested in himself.

He speaks his mind and doesn't beat around the bush- something I wish more politicians would do.
He can barely even read a coherent sentence when someone else has written it for him. He's rude, intolerant and ignorant. He waffles so much he loses track of what he is saying several times during each sentence.

I also think his handling of the coronavirus pandemic has been absolutely outstanding.
He's made Boris look like a genius. He has failed the people of America and continues to fail them.

Pinkyyy · 08/05/2020 22:34

I think people love to hate him. He has accomplished some unbelievable things during his time as president, including cleaning up much of the mess left behind by Obama.

Lordfrontpaw · 08/05/2020 22:36

He is still blaming every single rubbish thing he does on Obama. He tried to claim he wasn’t born in the US even though he known it wasn’t true. He lies like a toddler and speaks like one.

user1471565182 · 08/05/2020 22:42

I think its interesting, how much Bush jr was hated but hes coming across as some sort of statesman in comparison. Said this for a while, Trump is the ultimate example of the defective western human being- cowardly, petty, bad manners, ungentlemanly, immature and incredibly stupid.

SetPhasersTaeMalkie · 08/05/2020 22:44

He is the absolute worst. YANBU.

user1471565182 · 08/05/2020 22:49

Yes, everybody can have an opinion. That opinion can be worthless, but they can pointlesslly hold onto it in the face of all facts and sense.

Pinkyyy · 08/05/2020 22:52

Personally I wouldn't call someone else's opinion worthless. I hope you don't do that in real life because it's awful.

MaxNormal · 08/05/2020 22:53

I'll happily call someone's opinion worthless if they're talking nonsense. I

user1471565182 · 08/05/2020 22:55

You think hes doing a good job with corona virus? thats a worthless opinion im afraid, in the face of all evidence.

user1471565182 · 08/05/2020 22:56

His ex wife wrote about him attacking and raping her didnt she?

Crowbarred · 08/05/2020 22:56

@Pinkyyy, if you don’t like the term ‘worthless’, I would say that your opinions, as expressed on this thread, suggest a lack of intelligent engagement with current affairs, US and international politics, amounting to total political illiteracy.

emptyplinth · 08/05/2020 22:58

What was the 'mess' left by Obama and how has he made things better, Pinkyyy?

Pinkyyy · 08/05/2020 22:58

Wow so I'm not just uneducated, but now I'm unintelligent too?
