To be English and think Nicols Sturgeon would be a better PM

Just that really, I live in England but would quite happily vote for NS to be PM if given the choice over BJ. To me she seems much more trustworthy and has shown better leadership.

nonentity

Boris may be a number of things but he is also PM so hardly a nonentity

Dodgytrousers · 10/05/2020 10:36

Cat

I thank my lucky stars every day that we don't have Corbyn as our PM. Especially at the moment.

Thankfully the majority thought so back in December too...

OFFS! I thought we were well past the 'well at least Corbin...' shtick - or didn't you get the memo from Central Office?

Most people don’t subscribe to memos from the Labour Party Central Office so don’t need to ignore the fact that the alternative to Boris would have been worse

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 10/05/2020 11:11

The only explanation is that the Scots haven't been as good at stopping the spread.

We have fewer deaths per 100,000 than in England, as do Wales and NI. We're not doing too badly.

DateandTime · 10/05/2020 12:16

Chocolate, That was a response to a previous post that the R number in Scotland is still around 1. I.e it's still increasing spread in Scotland, whereas elsewhere it has slowed with R c. 0.7

It's hardly a 'fact'. It's just your opinion. (And I'm far from being a Labour Voter.)

And if we're playing fantasy politics Chris Grayling could well have ended up as PM.

Christ that doesn't need thinking about. I'm going for a lie down.

Aesopfable · 10/05/2020 13:37

We are playing fantasy politics - Sturgeon can never be PM!

Boulshired · 10/05/2020 13:58

I wouldn’t want her as she is pro those living in Scotland which would always be a detriment to those who do not. A raise in Barnett would be high on the agenda.

TheSandman · 10/05/2020 14:52

Bangs head on table. SHE DOESN'T WANT TO BE! It's a simple concept...

...strewth...

Allatsea34 · 10/05/2020 14:54

Absolutely not. I think she’s awful.

And our Scottish relatives also think she’s awful and stifling

Aesopfable · 10/05/2020 14:55

TheSandman you haven’t really grasped the concept of this thread have you? As a clue the title is:

To be English and think Nicola Sturgeon would be a better PM

Saints13 · 10/05/2020 14:58

I think Nicola Sturgeon would be better than Boris Johnson. I can think of many others, indeed very few who would be worse (Chris Grayling is the only one that comes to mind).

JulesM73 · 10/05/2020 15:00

Jesus Christ no no no no. I am English but have lived in Scotland for 20+ years. She might sound ok in a speech but she is as incompetent as BJ, Scotland has so many issues beyond just wanting independence.

ChilliCheese123 · 10/05/2020 15:01

No chance . Helmet hair can stay up there ! My Scottish family detest her

SeperatedSwans · 10/05/2020 15:07

No not Nicola....anything but her! To be honest even our own Welsh Government have been useless, they basically gave up on even meeting a 5000 a day testing target 🤦🏻‍♀️

Alicemovedtothecity · 10/05/2020 15:11

No way!!!!!!!!! Scotland can keep her! Grin

TheSandman · 10/05/2020 15:44

Aesopfable, Oh I get it... We have to stay TOTALLY on topic. No hesitation, deviation, or repetition. How boring.

Well that limits the entire thing to 'yes' or 'no'.

Yes.

derxa · 10/05/2020 15:54

I'm Scottish and not pro SNP but Nicola is good at making things crystal clear. I support her.

Lostvoiced · 10/05/2020 15:56

I am not Scottish but my family live there, and I used to. My mum keeps begging me to come back.

I'm starting to think she has a point. If the tories get in again after all this, I'll probably go.

TARSCOUT · 10/05/2020 16:08

Scotland here - please take her, you're more than welcome. She's already using the change of slogan as a dig at independence and we need to be a unity now more than ever.

potterspotter · 10/05/2020 17:10

And meanwhile this attractive fight over the slogan change is a distraction from the deaths in Scottish care homes and the plan for that...

Peppafrig · 10/05/2020 17:14

The U.K. government didn't even tell her they were changing the slogan . They are the ones being divisive.

potterspotter · 10/05/2020 17:28

we only have her word for that, she said ‘formally’ - i wonder about that categorisation.

DidoLamenting · 10/05/2020 19:09

Which given Scotland has far fewer (or do I mean less) places of concentrated population than England means Scotland isn't containing the spread as well as England.
