To be English and think Nicols Sturgeon would be a better PM

Just that really, I live in England but would quite happily vote for NS to be PM if given the choice over BJ. To me she seems much more trustworthy and has shown better leadership.

No I'm not for independence but and the plus side they get to keep her.

The vote was won to not separate but she ignores what her people voted for and rail roads her own agenda

Well she didn’t close schools until Boris announced it (said it was her ‘planning assumption’ the day before), she didn’t increase testing or include as many people in the current testing regime as BJ, she didn’t manage to get a good enough supply of PPE, she hasn’t ensured children with ASN can still attend schools as they can in England (those with EHCPs), it took her weeks longer to come up with a list of vulnerable people so they could get priority delivery slots, it took weeks longer to get food boxes in place, it took weeks longer to set up official volunteer schemes, when the UK government clarified that people with medical need could go out more than once a day to comply with Equality laws it took another week to have that recorded in Scotland meaning people were sent home by the police who shouldn’t have been, she didn’t set up a scientific advisory group until after lockdown.

She did, however, complain that Public a Health England were not passing their stockpiled PPE to Scotland.

And what has she done now? Nothing positive she’s merely rejected any measures except increasing exercise amounts, I can’t see how it’s so superior - I can see her delivery is clearer but as devolved govts are in charge of less, I’d expect their message to be smoother.

Are you saying asking people for ideas on how to deal with the day to day necessities of life in extraordinary circumstances is a bad thing?

I can’t see a huge difference - Scotland is going to introduce similar back to school measures, just later but ordinarily before a vaccine.

This may partially be due to our School year being different to that of England's and varies from region to region within - in Highland region where I am Schools break for the summer on 3rd July. Many Scottish School would have been shut for a week before that already.

Scottish Summer Holidays generally start two to three weeks before English and Welsh. And back sooner too.

The Daily Record has a story that a number of delegates attending an event at a hotel in Edinburgh at the end of February contracted Coronavirus. The Scottish Government decided not to inform the public. I'm struggling to understand why.

As a Scottish person, I'm entitled to have an opinion about the country I come from. Is that the best you can do?
Putting the information in the public domain would inform people who may potentially came into contact with delegates. Moreover, it would be rational to infer that the venue wasn't subject to a deep clean as that would have been noticed. Meanwhile, at almost the same time, in my local town, a woman tested positive after returning from England. Public Health England announced it publicly, whilst keeping her identity private. (Unfortunately people figured it out). The four places of work she had visited were deep cleaned and staff there told to self isolate. Public Health England also liased with heads at her children's schools, who then informed parents. That was for one person in a small town.

If we are having grown up conversations then we should be told all relevant facts.

As far as what good would it have done? Well other people tending different events at the same venue who mixed with the Nike ones could also have self isolated if they knew about it (they didn’t)

I think the Nike conference is a difficult one, largely fuelled by hindsight. Yes some countries were starting to lockdown but this was very early on in the UK timeline, so it wasnt necessarily logical to throw all the eggs in one basket at this point.
There are very few things that NS has done wrong, so I feel a little bit like this is something to pounce on to hold her to account to something. It is only after seeing how things unfolded that we can say this particular issue could have been dealt with differently.

Definitely agree OP. I'd feel much more confident if I was living in Scotland.

I didn't vote for sturgeon, I was anti independence and used to be no big supporter of the snp.

I have dealt with councillors, msps and mps now on several campaigns and the snp ones have been absolutely excellent. Responsive, open to meeting me at my request, engaging with the issues, following up and chasing, showing empathy and just generally proactive, nice people. I even had a reply to my email, 30 mins after sending, at about 10pm last night (Sunday). Totally different to my experiences with other parties and contradicting the naysayers who say they are totally single issue. No party is perfect but to me they stand for fairness and equality. I think NS has been excellent throughout this.
