To be English and think Nicols Sturgeon would be a better PM

Just that really, I live in England but would quite happily vote for NS to be PM if given the choice over BJ. To me she seems much more trustworthy and has shown better leadership.

I want to move to scotland and have her in charge (my dad was Scottish, wonder if I can claim to be Scottish?!)

Goodness, another thread about someone that’s confused NS with a mainstream politician and not someone who wants Scotland to be independent as the primary goal of her party.

It's not hard to be better than Boris Johnson, but yes OP, I really like Nicola Sturgeon. We were supposed to be moving to Scotland this year but covid happened and my son is shielded.

Her constituency has some of the highest deprivation in the whole of Scotland. She only cares about independence and nothing else. With her husband as Chief Executive of the SNP, she is protected from any party dissent. I still dont know how they get away with that and barely anyone questions it! It's a wee dictatorship up here for our tin pot tyrant and her fight for freedom.

I would vote for literally anyone other than that fuckwit Boris Johnson. He’s great doing a turn on Have I Got News for You, but as a Prime Minister he has been hugely disappointing.

There are other alternatives to BJ than a politician that has no interest in England other than leaving the UK under the best terms for Scotland possible.

Better education??? Now I know you are having a laugh. I'm Scottish and I wish that were true

Free prescriptions are probably a result of more financial support via the infamous Barnett Formula. You can afford to be generous when you have more per head of population to spend.

She's vile and they are very welcome to her.

The energiser bunny would be a better Prime Minister that BJ. And vastly harder working.

That said, except for her stupid stance on the trans issue, I think she comes across as competent and committed to the improvement of her electorate's lives. I may not always agree with her but I don't think she's a venal, craven narcissist who wants the job title and kudos but not the responsibility.

Scottish education isn't anywhere near as bad as unionists make out. I'd prefer what we have in Scotland to the Academy schools in England. School spending per pupil is highest in Scotland. Scotland is the only country in the UK to have seen a rise in school spending since 2013-14 (www.ifs.org.uk/election/2019/article/school-spending)

As for free prescriptions, we get those because that is what the Scottish Government choose to spend their money on. You could have free prescriptions in England if the Conservatives decided to make it a policy. You are aware that the Barnett Formula is not a subsidy? That it basically gives Scotland back (some of the) money that we have to send to Westminster?

Newsflash.... If you're English, you're lower on Nicola Sturgeon's priority list than practically anything else. She doesn't give two hoots about you.

Newsflash: if you're 'English' and live in Scotland you're just as high on her priority list as any other citizen. To accuse a party that is actively encouraging immigration - from England as well as the rest of the world - of racism against 'the English' is just bizarre. And before you get all 'Well a Jock would say that' on me. I was born in England of English parents with - as far as I can tell - English forebears as far back as I can see. I live in Scotland. I'm an SNP Voter. I'm not the only one. The last AUOB march I was on was full of 'English' voices. To say the Scottish Indy movement is Anti-English is another of those stupid stereotypes the 'Better Together' bots keep trotting out when they don't have any real arguments. It's bullshit.

NS isn’t looking for a role as UK PM, that would be like Boris wanting to be head of the EU. Scottish nationalism is so superior to English nationalism, of course the people of Scotland don’t hate English people, just like Boris doesn’t hate Europeans, no, he loves Europe.

I’ve never had people ask me about ‘my country’ and where I came from (several times) before I came to Scotland - it was nasty to realise whilst I regarded Scotland
as my country, a lot of Scottish people didn’t regard me as Scottish.

She's a bit left wing for me, but I think she's doing okay and I also think Boris is doing okay in very difficult circumstances. You need someone decisive in times when no-one know exactly what the right answer is.

You cannot unfortunately have free prescription, free uni education in England - it's too big - without massive tax rises for everyone. Scotland can d its it's smaller and easier to look after.

Absolutely not. She is the leader of a one policy party who is not equipped to be PM.

I suggest you move to Scotland if you're such a fan.

Bit early in the day for drinking; only someone drunk or unhinged would make such a statement.

In 2014, research by the Office for National Statistics found that Scotland was the most highly educated country in Europe and among the most well-educated in the world in terms of tertiary education attainment, above countries like Finland, Ireland and Luxembourg, with roughly 40% of Scots aged 16–64 educated to NVQ level 4 and above.”

That’s from wiki.

I’m loving my kids having pedagogy learning in p1-3 and the knowledge that they won’t have to pay tuition fees for uni.

Not a fan of NS/SNP but my husband is English and when I compare education and NHS in England to Scotland there’s a noticeable difference IMO.

She is a clever last and good communicator. But honestly, their track record
in scotland isn’t good. Our education system was the envy of the world and is now sliding down the ratings. Lots of “free” things like baby boxes and prescriptions which cost a lot and aren’t means tested. Utterly disorganised. Everything they touch is tainted by stories of corruption and inefficiencies. Utterly deluded about the costs and feasibility of independence

Oh come on! They have lots of policies. None of which they will be able to undertake without first gaining autonomy.

Getting rid of the abomination that is Trident for one.

I like her a lot. We moved back to Scotland from England because the school system is kinder on the kids and the NHS isn't as much of a mess.
She's not everyone's cup of tea and the SNP get a bit side tracked but they're way better than the Labour Scottish Government were and there are things at the bottom of ponds doing better for the country than Boris and the Horrors.
