To think Nicola Sturgeon is deluded

Sadie789 · 07/05/2020 13:05

... if she thinks that people who want to exercise twice a day aren’t already exercising twice a day.

And that if Boris eases lockdown restrictions on Sunday that the whole of Scotland is going to accept being trapped at home for another three weeks?

And that the shops and takeaways and other businesses that are already opening up are going to suddenly revert back to a strict lockdown?

And that the “economy can recover”?

Really?

This is a crazy agenda.

@AudacityOfHope while that is certainly relevant to the insults imo, I should mention that Arlene Foster almost definitely has a vagina too! Grin

catinasplat · 07/05/2020 17:16

Wales looks to be going down the same road as Scotland, as Senedd Cymru has made plain that schools in Wales won't be going back on 1st June. So that's Scotland and Wales who are not opening schools in June, but England (and NI?) seems to be indicating schools will be back in June. So Scotland and Wales both deluded?

How can Johnson pull rank? Education and health are devolved in Scotland and Wales.

JKScot4 · 07/05/2020 17:18

England aren’t recording care home deaths in the daily numbers, not seen much press coverage about those numbers but then the national press are Tory boys.

ChangeThePassword · 07/05/2020 17:21

Nicola Sturgeon is one of those busybody over-active politicians who always think they are right

I fucking love this comment. It is literally the funniest thing I've read today.

I mean, I damn well hope she thinks she's right, it would be a poor job if a politician was actively doing what they thought was wrong. And as for being 'over-active', I'm really confused as to why that's a problem. Would you rather have a politician that couldn't be arsed?

Brilliant 🤣🤣

AudacityOfHope · 07/05/2020 17:22

Yikes that's a thought @tigertrees I had blanked her out for a while Grin

AudacityOfHope · 07/05/2020 17:23

Busybody is quite the female-specific insult, isn't it? Don't think I've ever heard of a male busybody.

nowayhose · 07/05/2020 17:24

@ Jayfeem

''guidelines'' equals ''instructions'', and has done in the daily briefs for a long time now, and if it isn't ''the law'' then how could the police arrest and charge people for not abiding by the ''instructions'' ?? Hmm

Mascotte · 07/05/2020 17:25

Guidelines are NOT the law. The law is the law. Just google the corona virus regulations for your country

catinasplat · 07/05/2020 17:27

Nicola Sturgeon is one of those busybody over-active politicians who always think they are right

As opposed to buggering off on hols like Boris did, even though a crisis was looming...

GG20 · 07/05/2020 17:27

@MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix

As a sample size of two DH and I would love to exercise more than once a day but aren’t. We can live with another 3 weeks of lockdown so we will.

Same here.

dottiedodah · 07/05/2020 17:27

I dont really get why she comes out with her ideas first as BJ is running England not her! Out today ,saw group of teenagers in the park .People hugging in the street, and a woman standing in the road! I mean WTAF? We need to wait until Sundays statement and see what HE says! Seems like a a lot of people have decided to do their own thing anyway!

StoorieHoose · 07/05/2020 17:29

She's not telling England to do anything ! Why should she wait for Boris when he isn't responsible for health in Scotland

ChangeThePassword · 07/05/2020 17:30

I dont really get why she comes out with her ideas first as BJ is running England not her

Because she is addressing Scotland at lunchtime. She isn't addressing England, and it's not her fault that you need to wait till 5pm. Do you think she should wait till the following day to tell us what's going on?

Lizzie523 · 07/05/2020 17:31

We are 2 weeks behind the curve here in Scotland. She is making the right decision.

If Boris Johnson announces a country wide lift despite this basic science then he is the one in the wrong.

ChangeThePassword · 07/05/2020 17:32

Busybody is quite the female-specific insult, isn't it? Don't think I've ever heard of a male busybody

Indeed. I find that kind of term usually says more about the person using it, rather than the person being described.

Sweetpotatoaddict · 07/05/2020 17:37

@WaxOnFeckOff
I would love for someone to answer that question too! I can not figure out why if we locked down at the same time is scotlands peak later. They have not the foggiest idea what the R0 is, never mind the number of asymptomatic cases.
I am not a fan of NS but until this week she had won me over. Now I’m frustrated again, I received a document from the Scottish government stating I could only go out for exercise x1 a day, NS announced that might be the only thing they alter. After looking at the legislation passed on lockdown there is no mention of how many times you can exercise. NS is working to a political agenda and has completely misjudged the feelings of the Scottish people. People are struggling but she refuses to provide any hope. The Scottish health protection website gives lots of info, but not in the format that would show the rates dropping.

AudacityOfHope · 07/05/2020 17:37

Dottie, what's England got to do with it?!

Mascotte · 07/05/2020 17:40

Yes @Sweetpotatoaddict I too am puzzled.. and if locking down earlier was better and more effective why is it not? And if we had to lockdown to be the same as England then, why can we be different now? My head's bursting.

VivLevy · 07/05/2020 17:42

She needs to take a wee run around this afternoon .
Streets mobbed
Works vans everywhere
My commute is taking me as much time as pre lockdown
Drive through Costa's open
Cafes doing take outs and deliveries
Glaziers roofer scaffolders all back visibly working
Parks rammed
New seen as many walkers and runners often twice in the same day
She has botched a generation of Scottish teens education
Failed on every level in relation to new build hospitals x2
We are taxed to the hilt and yet still excessively bailed out by England
For what it's worth I am happy to stay in Lockdown but the majority in Scotland are already taking themselves out of it...
Oh and yer hair is looking good Nicola ….week 7 of lockdown and not a root to show perfect cut line too …..

Mistlewoeandwhine · 07/05/2020 17:42

Leave wee Nicola alone! I like her.

StinkyWizzleteets · 07/05/2020 17:46

@Sweetpotatoaddict it’s not that the peak is later it’s that Scotland has plateaued- it’s not going down and has remained more or less the same.

As for the R no. In the briefing yesterday she said it was somewhere between 0.7 and 1 which is no more precise than ruk can inform us of.

JKScot4 · 07/05/2020 17:46

@VivLevy
On the hair front she actually posted herself doing her own hair🤣
Where do you commute to? Glasgow & Edinburgh arent back to normal, did you see the costa pics in the Daily Record??
Botched education? Are English schools not shut too?
Read the Barnet formula, we are not ‘bailed out’
Your Unionism shite is reeking!!

AudacityOfHope · 07/05/2020 17:52

@Sweetpotatoaddict there are a number of initiatives to help people though, are there not? Mental health support, laptops for disadvantaged children, a helpline for those who are shielding and need help, etc.

Admittedly I haven't used them so don't know if they're fit for purpose or not, but I think they are trying to help people who are struggling. In contrast I haven't seen Johnson offer mental health support, for example.

She isn't really in a position to offer concrete hope and a timeline - she's not a magician who can magic up a vaccine. That would be the equivalent of wanting Churchill to say, in 1942, don't worry, it'll all be over in November '45.

Peppafrig · 07/05/2020 17:53

At least Nicola didn't come on today and not realty say anything at all like that wet fish Dominic. Boris should have been the one addressing the nation today not him. He couldn't really say anything. Nicola treats us like adults who can be told information .

Peppafrig · 07/05/2020 17:54

*really
