To think Nicola Sturgeon is deluded

... if she thinks that people who want to exercise twice a day aren’t already exercising twice a day.

And that if Boris eases lockdown restrictions on Sunday that the whole of Scotland is going to accept being trapped at home for another three weeks?

And that the shops and takeaways and other businesses that are already opening up are going to suddenly revert back to a strict lockdown?

And that the “economy can recover”?

Really?

This is a crazy agenda.

Nicola Sturgeon deluded ? Well she has an interesting track record. She thinks Scotland can exist as an independent country. I wonder how they would be doing with oil prices as they are now had the referendum gone her way.

Lovely1a2b3c · 07/05/2020 16:38

She is making much more sound decisions than Boris's team.

I live on the border with the Republic of Ireland I know people literally 5 mins away are adhering to the much stricter lockdown without complaint"

GladAllOver · 07/05/2020 16:42

Regardless of which leader says what, the simple fact that the virus is still out there and the more people meet up, the more it will spread and the more people will die.

JKScot4 · 07/05/2020 16:46

It’s laughable all the Unionist bile on here about Scotland as an independent poor country!
Do some research other than the Daily Mail 🤣

alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 07/05/2020 16:48

The Isle of Skye is facing an absolute catastrophe in one of its care homes. This home is based in Portree. Meanwhile B&B owners, holiday lets and hotels are clamouring to open. I’m very sorry that business is suffering but lives are being lost. Maybe none that you no of but other people’s fathers, mothers, husbands, wives and sons and daughters.

Timefor45 · 07/05/2020 16:49

It’s very hard to be in Scotland and read about us being discussed as though an independent country, NS’s separate briefings reinforce this attitude. I would like to see a joint nations briefing for the UK every day, led by the UK prime minister, that could then split off at the end to answer specific questions about a region or nation with the leaders of those areas. This would cover off any differences in stats, or guidance on daily activity, based on cases there (or the fact Scotland will never peak like London due to lower population)

The separate NS briefing is muddying the waters at this stage, confusing us about whose advice we should listen to (see ‘face masks’) and giving the media the opportunity to whip up the ‘rivalry’ between BJ and NS.
A bit more joined up UK approach would reassure the nation, but of course none of our politicians will stand shoulder to shoulder right now, because political reputation first, people second...

Wehttam · 07/05/2020 16:49

@MH1111 that reply made my belly ache with laughing! 🤣😂😆

So if we hadn’t locked down we would have had fewer deaths? Is that what you really believe?

😁

DivGirl · 07/05/2020 16:52

@Timefor45 You've just summed up how I feel more succinctly than I could have.

Bathroom12345 · 07/05/2020 16:57

Time - I agree totally. She is political point scoring. Why isn’t she speaking to the rest of the UK government. It’s causing great confusion. Whenever she talks it seems to be all about her. She will soon be bleating on about ID2 shortly.

StoorieHoose · 07/05/2020 16:57

A joined up UK approach? Boris is incapable of picking up a phone to speak to NS so she has to read about possible easing in the media?

I listen to NS as I know Scotland has devolved health powers. NHS Scotland kind of let's your know that

Tigertrees · 07/05/2020 16:58

@Timefor45 you know Wales and Northern Ireland have separate briefings too?

AudacityOfHope · 07/05/2020 16:59

What would that solve though? A four-nations briefing where each country has its own decisions to make and issues to deal with? Surely that would be more confusing than anything!

It's pretty clear. If you live in Scotland, you follow Scottish directives on this health issue. It's not confusing in any way whatsoever.

MH1111 · 07/05/2020 16:59

Whettam.

Can you point out where my post mentions or suggests fewer?

Bathroom12345 · 07/05/2020 16:59

So what stops her picking up the phone?

AudacityOfHope · 07/05/2020 17:00

But but but @Tigertrees someone with a vagina does the Scottish one. So that's disruptive and confusing.

Bathroom12345 · 07/05/2020 17:01

I didn’t know that 50% of deaths were in care homes. That is shocking. What is she doing about this?

AudacityOfHope · 07/05/2020 17:01

Why would she need to pick up the phone to him? Health is a devolved issue .

Timefor45 · 07/05/2020 17:08

Audacity- furloughed payments and universal credit as a conversation starter perhaps?

0DETTE · 07/05/2020 17:11

I think Nicola Sturgeon is doing a good job.

Bluntness100 · 07/05/2020 17:11

Raab has just said its a four nation approach so they won’t move much until sturgeon agrees, which is clever politically as she then has no come back later and she’s the one taking rhe pressure. They can all say we want to, but she won’t let us. She’s screwing rhe economy.

AudacityOfHope · 07/05/2020 17:11

Are you honestly under the impression they don't communicate? Confused

NS said last week (I'm sure it was last week anything) that the four nations had short daily briefings. She does not have to follow everything for health though, as that's devolved.

Crafting1Queen · 07/05/2020 17:12
Biscuit
BarbedBloom · 07/05/2020 17:15

I would trust her over Boris and his lot any day of the week

Timefor45 · 07/05/2020 17:15

Not me, a pp suggested not. It’s the daily briefings I would like to see as a joint effort. They can all be held jointly responsible then too and will have to come to amicable decisions before addressing the nation. As I said earlier though, this will never happen in politics today...
