Anyone think travel in June is likely?

Emcont · 04/05/2020 09:36

I personally do not. But I'm interested in other peoples opinions.

We are booked to fly on June 22nd to Majorca. Tui have cancelled flights up to the 11th June, but say holidays after this date are likely to go ahead. (Which is what they've said after every date change).

I'm hoping our flights are cancelled, so we can reshedual for June next year, as I don't want to go this year now regardless.

Yabu - No one is travelling anytime soon
Yanbu - Yes, it's a possibility

I don't think Spain are going to let Brits in for quite a while and certainly not in June.

Rainbowqueeen · 04/05/2020 09:39

Nope.

Domestic travel will happen before international travel. I don’t think there is any country allowing domestic travel yet.
Then they will want to see if that leads to a second wave of infections. I think international travel is unlikely this year

Bluntness100 · 04/05/2020 09:41

You may have an issue here in that both countries will permit travel but require a two week quarantine either side, making rhe holiday pointless.

WelcomeToTheNorth · 04/05/2020 09:43

What is the chat with flights here? Are they still happening? Flight Radar looks busy

Waxonwaxoff0 · 04/05/2020 09:46

I don't think it will happen in June. They'll just keep extending the date. I've moved a July holiday to next year.

PaddyF0dder · 04/05/2020 09:47

No way.

Partial relaxing of the lockdown is very likely by June. But international travel? I really hope not. That would be a terrible idea.

MissCharleyP · 04/05/2020 09:48

Welcome some passenger flights are operating but very limited, many on FR are passenger planes being used to carry cargo. There are about 4 flights a day from Manchester, mainly (from my understanding) repatriation.

AvoidingRealHumans · 04/05/2020 09:49

Tui are allowing anyone booked to travel up to 30th June to change their booking for any holiday on sale on their website free of charge.
I am booked to go to Bulgaria on 25th June and will be changing to next year.

You can do it online if you booked online but if you booked on phone/in store then you do it by phone, the number is 02036361997, follow instructions for retail customers

zingally · 04/05/2020 09:49

22nd June... Possible. But I'd say "unlikely".

BillieEilish · 04/05/2020 09:52

I'm in Spain and I can say with 99% certainty that you won't be let in and if you are, most things will likely be closed.

We have, only yesterday, started a UK type lockdown.

25 May we are 'maybe' allowed to travel to OUR second residences IN THE SAME PROVINCE ONLY, depending on how well this new lockdown goes. No way will Brits be allowed to rock up a few weeks later and travel wherever in the country!

June will be cancelled, don't worry, you'll get your money back/be able to reschedule, you just have to wait for them to tell you!

Xenia · 04/05/2020 09:52

Probably not. We have our family summer holiday in late June and I am paying for 11 of us . The package holiday company has not cancelled yet and I hav not cancelled yet. My daughter was talking about it yesterday. She has cheap flights to Majorca I think before then she was able to book although I bet that is cancelled too. She thinks there is a chance we will go but as I said Gatwick is just about closed and our holiday company will probably find the small airline it uses won't be flying.

Our holiday company has cancelled May but is being very unclear on June - it has not cancelled yet but allows you to change (a change is no use to us) to other later dates. I expect it is because they do not know yet if we will be flying. I hope if they go ahead we can go to an almost empty report rather than they force everyone into one resort in a different part of Europe which is full to the gills.

Emcont · 04/05/2020 10:38

We booked through On The Beach. They have just put links to whoever you're flying with to see what they say.

Anyone know if I can change hotels through On The Beach and then flights with Tui? When I went to my bookings on the On The Beach app there wasn't the option?

I don’t think there’s any chance anyone will be travelling internationally in June. Probably not for the rest of this year, if not longer.

Chillipeanuts · 04/05/2020 10:43

They need to sort out the logistics first and it won’t be easy. A LHR Exec was quoted on the radio this morning saying that the boarding queue for a jumbo would be 1km long.

GinDaddyRedux · 04/05/2020 10:51

WIth great respect (as I can imagine you're looking forward to a holiday as are many!) I don't think I would personally risk my family even if restrictions were lifted.

The very nature of risk is that it's inherently a set of personal assessments that lead to choices. So please don't take offence from what I'm saying. I just think that even if governments say things are better, this virus will linger.

Emcont · 04/05/2020 10:55

@GinDaddyRedux Definitely no offence taken! As I said my original post, we don't want to go this year even if we are allowed to. Too many risks, things won't be anywhere near 'normal'. And God forbid we were to get sick out there with two small children!

Anyone think travel to France from the U.K. is likely in July/August? This would be to stay with family in a rural area, we could self isolate as long as needed.

Thighmageddon · 04/05/2020 10:59

That wouldn't be self isolating though would it because you'd be mixing with a new family.

I'm imagining having to quarantine when restrictions are eased and that will mean in your ow, no fun holiday stuff, just sat in your room with food being left at your door.

Not much fun.

PinkiOcelot · 04/05/2020 10:59

My daughter is booked with TUI for 3 July and has just changed hers to next year on line herself.

SebandAlice · 04/05/2020 11:02

You can get on a flight today if you like. I think mid to late June before airlines ramp up their schedules.

vanillandhoney · 04/05/2020 11:04

I very much doubt it.

Even if you could travel, would you really want to? Lots of European countries are making you wear face coverings in public and are strictly enforcing social distancing, so it's hardly going to be much of a holiday!

But staying with family isn't isolating, is it?

Emcont · 04/05/2020 11:09

No we don't want to. Not this year anyway!

Can you do this op? (And do you want to)

Fluffybutter · 04/05/2020 11:16

I doubt it . We are booked to go to the states mid August , have no idea how that’s going to pan out .
If it’s not cancelled we will still go but if it is then we’ll push to following year .
I don’t know how long these tourists places can stay closed to holiday makers though before they go under .
