What can I binge watch today?

Am exhausted and want to spend a day on the sofa watching tv. What’s a good binge watch?

I have Netflix, Prime and Now TV.

Things I love:
Luther, Happy Valley, Dead to Me, The Thick of It, Afterlife, and I do enjoy a good docu-series as well.

I don’t tend to get on so well with a lot of the big American Netflix series with a ridiculously large number of episodes per season - as I often lose interest.

Any ideas gratefully received

Somebody has recommended Money Heist to me. I have no idea what it’s about. I think there’s subtitles too.
I am yet to research though.

Tiger King
Killing Eve
Fleabag
Cheer

Palegreenstars · 03/05/2020 09:46

Normal People

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 09:47

@zscaler have watched (and love) all of those except Cheer so will take a look at that!

Normal people. 😭

Figgygal · 03/05/2020 09:48

Normal people if wanting some emotional angst
The capture for some conspiracy drama

Figgygal · 03/05/2020 09:48

Both iPlayer

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 09:48

@Palegreenstars see I’ve literally just read the book - which I didn’t care for very much, so have avoided the show. See people are really enjoying though so wonder whether the characters are more sympathetic without the “internal monologue”

Lie To Me on Prime was recommended on here and I binge-watched that. It's brilliant.

Line of Duty, obviously, if you haven't seen that.

Peaky Blinders - I resisted for ages and then gave in and it's so, so good.

LaurieMarlow · 03/05/2020 09:52

Unforgotten is excellent. Very manageable in terms of episodes per series.

Marcella (series 1, series 2 is too brutal)

Collateral is great too.

LaurieMarlow · 03/05/2020 09:53

If you haven’t watched LOD, then waste no more time in your life and get going!

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 09:55

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross Line of Duty should have been up as one of my favourites! I tried an episode of Peaky Blinders and for some reason couldn’t warm to it - though dh did. I’ll maybe try and give it another go!

For those who got into peaky blinders, how long did it take you? I watched about 3 episodes and it didn’t click in that time.

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 09:57

For everyone saying “Normal People” did anyone read the book? I really didn’t like it that much, so wondering if I’ll somehow like the tv version?

Am the other way around with Dublin Murder Squad - great books but terrible tv version.

I presume you’ve watched Bodyguard.

Criminal is of passing interest if you’re looking for a LOD interrogation scene fix.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 03/05/2020 10:00

Definitely Money Heist. We're bingeing Ozark atm. Love Fauda but it's not to everyone's taste. Twin on BBC4 was pretty good.

Well I loved the book, enjoying the show so far, but only on the sligo episodes, which aren’t as good as the Dublin bit.

It’s very faithful to the book so perhaps that’s a bad sign for you. The leads are perfectly cast. But perhaps enjoying their prettiness is more engaging than reading their internal monologues? Grin

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 10:01

@laurie yep watched the bodyguard and criminal (though only the UK ones).

Unforgotten definitely to second a PP.

DM1209 · 03/05/2020 10:01

Stumbled on this one by accident but I'm watching The Purge on Prime at the moment. I have never seen the movie but to say the TV is disturbing is an understatement!

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 10:02

@LaurieMarlow maybe I’m getting old and grumpy - but found their endless agonising and miscommunication to be infuriating!

Sounds like you have similar taste to me, in which case PLEASE watch Unforgotten, which is amazing. Particularly series 2&3.

Swiftier · 03/05/2020 10:02

Have you watched Mindhunter?

Pinkarsedfly · 03/05/2020 10:02

You must watch Unbelievable.

It is fantastic.
