What can I binge watch today?

Am exhausted and want to spend a day on the sofa watching tv. What’s a good binge watch?

I have Netflix, Prime and Now TV.

Things I love:
Luther, Happy Valley, Dead to Me, The Thick of It, Afterlife, and I do enjoy a good docu-series as well.

I don’t tend to get on so well with a lot of the big American Netflix series with a ridiculously large number of episodes per season - as I often lose interest.

Any ideas gratefully received

Have you also tried Episides or Catastrophe? They're lighthearted too, I normally prefer crime drama but enjoyed both of them.

Deux · 03/05/2020 10:30

Big Little Lies if you can get it. It was on Sky.

recycledbottle · 03/05/2020 10:31

Another vote for unforgotten.

Kaftankween · 03/05/2020 10:33

The Staircase on Netflix.

Mrsjayy · 03/05/2020 10:34

Save me and then save me too.is on now TV. Not. Cheery but compelling. Don't watch tiger king it's trash

JasperHale · 03/05/2020 10:36

If you read and liked H Coben, The Five, Safe and Stranger. I think Stranger is quite good.

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 10:37

@Deux omg there’s a second series of big little lies isn’t there? I watched and enjoyed the first.

@NachoNachoMan - love both - actually don’t think I’ve seen the last series of Episodes so May check if o can find it.

Leverage, it’s fun, easy, a group of super criminals basically act like Robin Hood to get money for those who’ve been scammed. All very clever, the individual actors are really funny. It’s a great easy Sunday viewing series.

Ohffs66 · 03/05/2020 10:39

Have you got Sky entertainment on your Now tv (as opposed to just films)? If so I really recommend The Tunnel, (British / French crime/thriller). DH and I binge watched all 3 series a few weeks ago. How we never heard about it when it originally came out I will never know, it was so good!

Ohffs66 · 03/05/2020 10:39

Ooh and also The Jinx on Sky Crime. Fascinating.

Ohffs66 · 03/05/2020 10:40

And Keeping Faith and Hinterlands I really enjoyed. I'll stop now!

TheNestedIf · 03/05/2020 10:41

Have you seen Kidding (NowTV)?

It's quite dark although not as much as Afterlife. The lead actor is Jim Carrey. I know that will put some people off but don't let it. He's actually very good and not too over the top in this.

The second series is out and I'm looking forward to it this week.

‘Love Is Blind‘ on Netflix is amazing! Just finished binging it.

Normally I find American reality TV fake and ridiculous, but this was fantastic, trust me!

ChestyNut · 03/05/2020 10:42

Thirteen on bbc I player

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 10:43

@fluesome - I keep sneaking episodes of Love is Blind when dh is otherwise entertained as he just gets annoyed by it... I think it’s fascinating

The Americans on Prime or Schitts Creek on netflix

4cats2kids · 03/05/2020 10:43

American Gothic.

There’s a serial killer in a family and they are trying to work out which one of them it is... very addictive viewing!

getyoursocksoffhoney · 03/05/2020 10:43

After life
Unbelievable
Unorthodox
The pharmacist

All on Netflix, it took me until series 2 of peaky blinders to really get into it, I would've given up but DP had already seen them all and insisted I give the whole of series 1 a go which I did and gradually got more and more into it

Subeccoo · 03/05/2020 10:45

Had to check it was still on there as no one has mentioned it but Russian doll on Netflix is so good!! Also, living with yourself. Double Paul Rudd so that's a treat!
Both totally bingeable

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 10:48

@subeccoo I binged Russian doll in once sitting! As an aside - Living with yourself looks good actually it had sort of slipped off my radar.

There is so much good stuff. I'm
jealous of anyone who hasn't seen any of these:
Orange is the New Black
GLOW
Dead To Me
Mindhunter
Manhunt : Unabomb
Chernobyl
Umbrella academy
Happy Valley
Line of Duty
Parks and Recreation
Brooklyn 99
The Good Place
Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul
Line of Duty

Channel 4 player has the whole of Seinfeld, which is what I'll be working on for the foreseeable

Delbelleber · 03/05/2020 10:50

I watched 3 girls last night. Had me choked to tears at points but could be the pregnancy hormones.

Delbelleber · 03/05/2020 10:51

A good film is the frozen ground

IsAnybodyListening · 03/05/2020 10:52

I managed to binge watch the entire series of RECKONING on Netflix yesterday. Wow. I loved it.

DimplesToadfoot · 03/05/2020 10:53

For something totally different than what has already been mentioned. I've just watched all of Taskmaster, (UKtv Play) it's totally stupid, very uncouth, lots of swearing with a mix of totally bonkers, I often sat there thinking 'what on earth am I watching this rubbish for?' then 2 minutes later I'm belly laughing which I haven't done in such a long time.
