What can I binge watch today?

Am exhausted and want to spend a day on the sofa watching tv. What’s a good binge watch?

I have Netflix, Prime and Now TV.

Things I love:
Luther, Happy Valley, Dead to Me, The Thick of It, Afterlife, and I do enjoy a good docu-series as well.

I don’t tend to get on so well with a lot of the big American Netflix series with a ridiculously large number of episodes per season - as I often lose interest.

Any ideas gratefully received

Have you watched The Missing? That is really good. I've been watching old drama series from the 90s and early 2000s on Britbox and YouTube and well, like Messiah, The Sculptress and so on. Currently watching Soldier Soldier from the beginning Blush

RedAzalea · 03/05/2020 10:04

I loved caliphate and unorthodox

Kerlassic · 03/05/2020 10:04

Unorthodox was really good.

LaurieMarlow · 03/05/2020 10:04

maybe I’m getting old and grumpy - but found their endless agonising and miscommunication to be infuriating!

Haha. I’m Irish, so have skin in the game. I felt quite old watching the first few episodes. They spend all their time snogging and shagging.

It’s been so long since I’ve felt that kind of intensity Grin

My DD has just got me into Stranger Things, not something I would have picked from the description but it’s really good and every episode leaves you wanting to watch more!

Tumble81 · 03/05/2020 10:05

The afterlife on Netflix is well worth a watch

QueenArnica · 03/05/2020 10:08

Normal people
Fleabag
Jane the virgin
Killing Eve
Dead to me
You
Dirty John

Funnyfive · 03/05/2020 10:10

Unbelievable was harrowing but brilliant.

Unforgotten was great too, the last series was brilliant. Otherwise Line of duty is good too.

I watched Unorthodox Recently which was really good and for something more lighthearted I really enjoyed life in pieces.

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 10:11

Gosh - I would say that I don’t watch that much tv - but have already watched so many of these fab recommendations that I may have to revisit my opinion!

Am leaning towards Unforgotten I think.

I'd pay £1000 to you right now if I could swap for the day?!

Poldark
Homeland
Call the midwife

forsucksfake · 03/05/2020 10:14

Little Fires Everywhere on Hulu was really gripping for me. I don't know if you have a VPN?

forsucksfake · 03/05/2020 10:15

Oh sorry, didn't notice that you had already made up your mind!Smile

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 10:16

@dietcoker no deal! It’s my first day off for two weeks - not sure £10000 would be incentive enough Grin

The sinner on netflix, especially season 1.

caringdenise009 · 03/05/2020 10:16

The Americans and Homecoming on Prime. The Americans is about Russian spies in the US in the 80s and Homecoming is a mix of Hitchcock/The Prisoner/Coma/70s paranoia films.

Carolduckingbaskin · 03/05/2020 10:17

@forsucksfake happy to still take ideas! They can all go on the list! Ooh o quite liked the book and imagine it makes a good tv show. Wondering if I can get it via Now or Prime maybe

Placemark

Smithtylater · 03/05/2020 10:25

All seasons of criminal minds are on prime...amazing TV show!

Wilmalovescake · 03/05/2020 10:26

Halfway through Normal People and I can’t stop watching it. I haven’t read the book and am slightly terrified as to where it will end.

NachoNachoMan · 03/05/2020 10:27

Seconding @LaurieMarlow's suggestion of Unforgotten. Its ITV but think I've seen it on NowTV or Prime or Netflix. I find BBC drama so much better than ITV on the whole but Unforgotten is really good, with a great cast.

Have you tried Downton? I like it because it's quite light compared to a lot of stuff on TV!

NachoNachoMan · 03/05/2020 10:28

@Haffiana I agree with you there re Bodies! Shame there wasn't more series
