To not understand the queues?

Costa and KFC drive throughs have opened in my city this weekend. The queues have been massive. Just why?

Yes @amijustparanoidorjuststoned, I am using the excuse that the tip is closed to not sort out my loft and shed.
Once it's opened I will be extreme decluttering.

What I can't understand is the queue for the post office. 30 people in the queue for my local one and I moved 2 feet in 10 minutes. I abandoned ship as it was by then 5pm and it closes at 5.30pm so I wouldn't have got in.
My question?
Why the ABSOLUTE FUCK are tens of you rocking up to your post office all of a sudden? Pre lock-down - you might have 2 ahead in the queue, you might have nobody ahead. So what fucking business has everyone got to do in the post office all of a sudden?? Sending postcards? Honestly, why 30 people in a queue for the post office?

Are they not delivery only? I know the kfc and Burger King local to me are deliveroo/Uber eats etc only.

It's not something I would do, but I can see why others might. Boredom/cravings/wanting to have something different to tell people about/wanting to have some sense of normality/an excuse to get away from the house and family for a bit/feeling drive through is safer than grocery shopping/feeling they deserve a treat after all the restrictions/fear they'll die without experiencing one last McWhatever or extra foamy machichocalatte etc, wanting to tick it off their bucket list?

Some have started takeaway service @cacaca.

But imagine getting to the front of the queue at McDonalds after 90 minutes to find the menu is limited.

Prontoe I’m thinking of eBaying literally anything I might be able to sell, so I imagine that’s partly the reason for the Post Office queue.

There was never more than 2 people in the damned post office in the first place, but now 30 people queueing outside? FFS.

When Krispy Kreme opened their first Scottish store it gridlocked half of Edinburgh - the police were initially trying to work out what the problem was because there were no roadworks or reports of accidents but traffic was at a standstill. It’s going to be crazy when all the Fast Food places reopen.

My worst thing is I did the whole Marie Kondo thing last year, got rid of all my rubbish, and now I have stuff too good to throw away, but too crappy for ebay. It's all piled up waiting for car boots to be a thing again. I can't help thinking it'll be a VERY long time before car boots are on the agenda!

What I don't understand is why so many people are now so fucking judgemental and sneery and nasty, couched under the pretext of not 'understanding' or faux confusion, about what other people chose to do with their time and money. YABU.

My local Post Office is always very busy though.

Ew no! Queuing for that! I can’t judge other people’s motivations. If that’s what they want, then they want it. But me, no way.

i wish ours was opening its only major cities isnt it atm?

tbh the queue for the post office is the straw that broke the camel's back with me.

@prontoe - erm, just a wild guess but maybe people are doing more online shopping at the moment so therefore there are more returns 🤔

When McDonalds open, a drive there will definitely be an essential journey. What’s there not to understand?

I wouldn't queue for coffee personally but perfectly understand why some would.

If Macdonalds and Witherspoons are your normality then I guess so yes. I never eat fast food or have been in a Witherspoon!
