the problem is, and I am sure many overweight people struggling to lose or maintain will agree, people do become addicted to these foods. Young children are very receptive to certain behaviours and unfortunately once the seed is planted, it’s a cycle many can’t break.
Depressed or down? You turn to your good old treat friend, the junk food, who you intuitively believe to be a pick me up or celebration to make you feel better. The associated taste triggers receptors in the brain that says mmmm this is great, I feel so much better, we best have some more.....
Thats a combination of addictive personality and emotional issues. And if it wasn't food it would be something else.
You don't solve the problem by banning stuff.
If you don't think that adults are responsible enough to look after themselves then we should just be given a daily bowl of vitamin rich gruel, forced exercise and live life under a survelliance state.
Except even this doesn't work, as its been tried in various forms over the years.
Perhaps we should just, y'know, try and treat people that moderation is ok and try and develop proper ways to resolve deeper issues.
