For parent to call their child sexy?

Saw one mother post about their 'sexy little man'?
One year old doing a pose.
Personally I just think it's weird.
AIBU to think calling your child sexy is weird??

Yes, as well as being inappropriate.

Elieza · 02/05/2020 20:59

That’s the last thing a ‘normal’ person should ever be thinking or saying about a child. That’s just disgusting.

DysonFury · 02/05/2020 20:59

Repulsive.

bloodywhitecat · 02/05/2020 21:00

It makes my flesh crawl.

garden6789 · 02/05/2020 21:00

Reading too much into it?

ScarfLadysBag · 02/05/2020 21:00

It's weird. I guess they mean more that he's doing what might be a 'sexy' pose (which is still horrible) than that they think he's sexy. But it's not a word I would use about a child regardless.

hesgotit · 02/05/2020 21:01

Revolting

iklboo · 02/05/2020 21:01

Erm. No. I've called DS cute, handsome, adorable when he was little but sexy? Nope.

Not reading too much into anything it's just not really something you'd say about a one year old.

BillywigSting · 02/05/2020 21:01

Yanbu it makes my skin crawl.

Children are not sexy.

MindBoggles · 02/05/2020 21:01

I actually cut out a friend cos she kept saying this to her son when he was about 3-4 and it really annoyed me. As well as the graphic details I got on her sex life I just thought really not my sort of person.

PenisBeakerDipper · 02/05/2020 21:02

Yuck

theemptywinebox · 02/05/2020 21:02

Exactly! The mother in question doesn't seem weird or strange. I just thought it was odd to post on Facebook. I was just felt, well that's weird. Maybe she doesn't think it's weird. 🤷🙈

OP posts:
MrsT1405 · 02/05/2020 21:02

Really inappropriate.

Teddy1970 · 02/05/2020 21:02

No, just no.

Delbelleber · 02/05/2020 21:03

Yes it's weird. I heard a granny calling her like 2 month old granddaughter a sexy baby. I dont get it lol

CelestialSpanking · 02/05/2020 21:03

Weird and inappropriate. I try to swerve people who use that word in relation to children as much as I can.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 02/05/2020 21:04

Yuck

timetest · 02/05/2020 21:05

Creepy.

Hotwaterbottlelove · 02/05/2020 21:06

I really hate it. I also hate it when people refer to a child's behaviour as flirting.

No, your 3 year old girl is not flirting when she hands my husband a toy and smiles at him.

Nottherealslimshady · 02/05/2020 21:06

I despise the sexualisation of children. Gross.

WomanIsTaken · 02/05/2020 21:10

It is a 'thing'; I have heard people use it and found it repulsive. I don't think they are announcing that they find said child sexually attractive, but it is something more akin to 'cheeky', perhaps? In fact, many years ago, a health visitor at a walk-in weigh-in at my doctor's surgery said this about my DC1's voice, which happened to be very husky. I honestly did consider reporting her.

theemptywinebox · 02/05/2020 21:13

@WomanIsTaken WHAT?!!! EEWW!! Actually made me shudder. I understand it's to try and make it similar to a word like 'cheeky'. It's just weird still.
My 9 year old asked me what's sexy mean? I said it's an adult word for adults.

Samtsirch · 02/05/2020 21:19

I have heard this quite a lot while working in Early Years ( from parents)
and have always found it inappropriate and offensive.
I think the word «sexy « has been misappropriated quite widely by celebrities in recent years, eg, certain chefs referring to « sexy flavours « , or a « sexy little appartement « being featured on a property show,
but in regard to children it is NEVER acceptable.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 02/05/2020 21:20

Vile 😖

LonelyBones · 02/05/2020 21:21

I follow an american socialite on instagrm and she constantly posts pictures of her 2yr old boy, and calls him her lover. My lover. Look at how cute my lover is today. Etc etc etc

Sexualising children. Wierd and wrong.
