To tell DH that his potato’s are a joke?

DH and I used to work together. We don’t anymore but I’m in touch with the old team. Whenever there was a buffet DH used to make Bombay potatoes which he thought were dead popular. But the staff there just take the piss. The are on about a post lock down buffet and the major joke is DHs potatoes and messages such as “bless him”. DH is excited going on about how he will need to make these potatoes. AIBU to tell him he’s a joke?

Why aren’t you cross with them? Your DH sounds like a nice man. Your tone is a bit mocking and cruel tbh. You should be sticking up for him!!

LNPW · 01/05/2020 21:16

I like them. DH is not popular but I don’t want to upset him

After lockdown will literally anyone want to eat a buffet, homemade by a selection of people who you have no idea on their cleanliness? Eating potentially the saliva and traces of faeces of numerous people wasn’t particularly appealing before. Can’t imagine it would be more so now.

I like to think that I have cooking experience - but what is "Bombay Potatoes"??

You like them?? Do you also like your dh? Because it's not coming across well.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 01/05/2020 21:18

Surely that makes it worse? They're picking on him and you're sat there watching.

Stand up for your husband whether you like them or not!

Parsley1234 · 01/05/2020 21:18

God your dps work colleagues are so rude ! You need to remind them of their manners and a bit of gratitude that someone is making an effort to make something he thinks they would enjoy ! Some people are just awful ❤️

SpoonBlender · 01/05/2020 21:19

Curry- spiced potatoes, ask Google for recipes.

Don't tell DH, that's a dick thing to do. The team are clearly being pricks, either tell them to STFU or ignore them as you will.

BusySittingDown · 01/05/2020 21:21

Aw, I feel so sorry for your DH.

Sparklyring · 01/05/2020 21:22

Why on earth aren't you sticking up for your husband. Stop being a knob and tell them to grow up.

GinandGingerBeer · 01/05/2020 21:23

I'd make them so spicy they'd choke em.

Whywhywhynow · 01/05/2020 21:23

You like them? Does it really not bother you that your dh is the being laughed at?
It’s being popular that important to you?

Honestly, I could not sit back and Let anyone I cared about be picked on.

101problems · 01/05/2020 21:23

Well firstly, I'd stand up for my DH and wouldn't allow people to be making a joke out of him.

Secondly, I wouldn't go to an event with people who treated my DH like that.

Thirdly, no you shouldn't tell him.

OhioOhioOhio · 01/05/2020 21:23

Why isn't he popular?

GreyGardens88 · 01/05/2020 21:27

Bloody hell, if this is real, you and your catty coworkers really are the most horrific bullies.

shinynewapple2020 · 01/05/2020 21:28

I assume there is a lot we don't know about your husband here ....., otherwise you are coming across as a really nasty person with friends who seem to suit you (that's me being polite)

BabyofMine · 01/05/2020 21:28

It doesn’t sound like, from that comment, the potatoes are a joke. It sounds like they’re actually really nice and they’re probably just jealous!

I completely agree with the posted who pointed out about no-one wanting buffet food from now on. At least not until this has all passed.

TeaStory · 01/05/2020 21:29

Does your husband know how little you think of him?

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 01/05/2020 21:30

Who the hell voted YanbuHmm

Brefugee · 01/05/2020 21:31

they're rude fuckers.
I'd write something like PP said "oh, I'll tell him not to bother then since none of you apparently like anything other than boring food" and leave it at that

Thisismytimetoshine · 01/05/2020 21:32

Apart from the complete disdain you seem to hold your dh in; who actually wants to go to a buffet where the providers pride themselves on only providing "shit"?

Sounds bloody grim, and the company sounds no better, although it seems to suit you, op?

PickAChew · 01/05/2020 21:32

So you'd rather side with them than call them out for being so rude?

Namechangex10000 · 01/05/2020 21:32

How can you like anybody who thinks so little of your husband. I think you need to assess your loyalties

formerbabe · 01/05/2020 21:32

Why is your husband unpopular? Are your colleagues really unpleasant people or is your husband the problem?

By the way, this thread is weird
