I honestly don't know. Possibly a beach in Bali.

I live in the very remotely in the Scottish highlands. So most views are stunning. I live on a cliff top overlooking the sea. Surrounded by heather covered hills. Such a contrast to the rough inner city in England I grew up in.

papiermaches · 30/04/2020 06:34

Seeing the sunrise over the Grand Canyon. Arrived in the pitch dark to go hiking guided by some the guy who worked at the crappy hostel we were in and as the sun came up we realised he'd guided us right to the edge.
I've travelled all over the world, to nearly every continent but nothing has come close to the feeling of complete awe I had at that moment.

Lonelycrab · 30/04/2020 06:35

Probably standing infront of 7000m mountain Langtang, in the Nepal Himalayas and watching avalanches cascade down its face. Was drinking a nice glass of red at the time which probably helpedSmile

Ijumpedtheshark · 30/04/2020 06:37

The bay of Naples at sunrise.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 30/04/2020 06:45

Jökulsárlón, a large glacial lake in Iceland, amazing.
I'd gone as a trip from Reykjavik - a horrendously long coach journey and i'd spent the final hour of it thinking 'this can't possibly be worth it'.
It was.

Also a spectacular sunset over London coming home in a mini cab from Beckenham, as I later realised via Crystal Palace - even the cab driver was so stunned he was happy to stop and gawp at it.

I'll never forget trekking in the small hours to a vantage point, to watch the Piton de la Fournaise erupting on Réunion island. The sun rose over the Indian Ocean beyond, and the lava spewed out just a few hundred yards away.

Bitch of a place to get to, but totally worth it.

Flying over the temples near the Valley of the Kings, Luxor, Egypt in the last balloon flight before lockdown. Awesome!

Banff and Kananaskis in Canada and my first sighting of Lake Garda when we walked into the main square at Riva

Most of the Lake District

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 30/04/2020 07:00

I loved Palenque as well.

Sugar loaf - view over Rio.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 30/04/2020 07:03

Skydiving. I'm not sure it would have mattered where, but did it near grand Canyon... It was amazing. You can see for miles and feel like a bird. It was the most relaxing thing I've ever done once you got out of the aeroplane.

Also got 2 flying ones... 1. Coming into land over New York at night in a thunderstorm. Sudden flash of light and seeing the sights lit up.

  1. Landing at night into Heathrow when I was living abroad, and seeing MY city and recognising everything... Made me feel at home before I even got there.
okiedokieme · 30/04/2020 07:04

Probably ice carving in Alaska from a glacier. Blue ice in water ... amazing

wizzler · 30/04/2020 07:07

Maligne Lake in Canada
Bamburgh beach.
Banff
The Kyles of Bute

CallingAllEngels · 30/04/2020 07:09

I was having a dream about this last night. As a teenager doing a scouting event, we walked through the night and came out on the coast path (UK) as the sun was rising.

piperatthegates · 30/04/2020 07:16

For me it's Lake Bled in Slovenia. Stunning place, lovely people my favourite country that I've visited in the world (Aruba a very close second) I would love to go back.

MinnieMountain · 30/04/2020 07:17

Sitting on St David's head.

cptartapp · 30/04/2020 07:19

Flying over the Maldives or Gulfoss waterfall in Iceland.

CountFosco · 30/04/2020 07:25

I grew up in Scotland so am used to amazing views, anything looking across the water at lots of islands is fab but doesn't photograph well. Driving down the A9 is awesome as well.

Elsewhere, you get some spectacular views while walking in the mountains near the Monastery of Monserrat near Barcelona.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 30/04/2020 07:29

Glen Coe and the Isle of Skye without any shadow of a doubt. Like nothing I've ever seen anywhere in the world before. Can't wait to go back 🤞🙏

tanqueray10 · 30/04/2020 07:30

Every way you turn on the Amalfi coast in Italy. Just breathtaking views x

Stronger76 · 30/04/2020 07:31

New York, specifically the view as you get out of the lift at One World Trade Centre. When you're in the lift there's a commentary about the city, its evolution etc, then you get out, a bit more commentary then whoosh - the blinds are whisked away and you have such an amazing 180° view of the city. Utterly breathtaking.

Agree with pp Aguile du Midi viewing station near Chamonix

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 30/04/2020 07:33

In the Sahara desert the moon setting over one sand dune and the sun rising over another opposite . The looked so close that you could walk over the sand dune and touch them

Adding to the sound of silence it’s was an incredibly moving experience

Also swimming out to sea on phi phi island (Thailand) and looking back into the most beautiful beach and hilltops it was almost empty (few tourists) it was so beautiful I cried

The view from Waterloo bridge always makes me feel incredibly proud and often emotional of my home city London

Bedroomdilemma · 30/04/2020 07:34

I am really surprised by the amount of people saying Niagara Falls, to the extent i’m wondering were you looking at it from a different place? I looked at it from a place with casinos and can’t remember being blown away at all. Iguazu Falls though...wow wow wow.
Lago atitlan in Guatemala
A beautiful beach on Phu Quoc island
Oh so many places
But probably the view from home because it sings in my heart and I’ve seen it in so many stunning lights from when a beam of sunlight after snow turned into a scene of a burnished molten silver sea with lightly frosted trees and cliffs to the most amazing summer sunsets. Can’t say where though as it’s too identifying!

user1497207191 · 30/04/2020 07:34

Walking through the siq and getting the first glimpse of Petra.

Neolara · 30/04/2020 07:37

Top of a sand dune in Namibia. Looking around, you could see for miles and miles in every direction, but all you could see was sand dunes. Was extraordinary.

bubblesforlife · 30/04/2020 07:39

The wine lands in South Africa. The scenes are breathtaking and the vineyards took my breath away.

Flying over NYC

Sunset on the northwest of Zanzibar on a locally made boat.

Sunset on Koh Tao in Thailand
