I honestly don't know. Possibly a beach in Bali.

Niagara from the Canadian side.
The view from the top of Sulphur Mountain in Banff. In fact pretty much anywhere in the Canadian Rockies, Lake Louise, Peyto Lake.

I live very near Rhossili - it is beautiful.

doobiedop

That photo of Moorea is like something from a Darwin compendium, breathtaking.

My favourite?

Wawona tunnel in Yosemite as you come out of the valley end, seeing El Capitain to your left and Half Dome down in the valley to your right just wow.

Walking into Milford Sound after three days hiking. Eden, like the Earth would have been before humans ruined it.

Camping in Zimbabwe and waking up at dawn looking into Mozambique, hearing the monkeys calling to each other in the rainforest gave me goosebumps.

Swimming with Dusky dolphins off New Zealand, I was the last out of the water and just sat staring at them, half frozen but so happy

Sunrise up a volcanic crater on Lombok, 3 different coloured lakes - so spectacular.

The Maldives are hard to beat.

Angkor Wat - Bayan Temple and Ta Prohm - Indiana Jones come to life.

Bach Ma National Park in Vietnam looking over to Laos.

Grand Canyon is awesome as is Monument Valley.

Ridgeway in England in the spring is pretty wonderful I must say.

What a lovely thread. The list is endless, sorry for my over indulgence.

I hated Niagara Falls though, sits in an industrial estate.

Radiatorsareleaking · 02/05/2020 00:13

Sorry I have to add

Sleeping under the stars in Kakadu National Park Australia, the stars were literally dripping out of the sky

Lake Louise in winter, would love to go back in summertime.

Walking the Inca Trail and the first sight of Machu Picchu. Did that for our honeymoon.

Sorry for total over indulgence, what lovely memories. I'm getting some great ideas from here too x

Lava running across the land in front of me and poring in to the sea in hawaii

Bella2020 · 02/05/2020 01:20

A glacier in Greenland, clear as day as we flew over it. I was almost speechless. After that, we get some pretty spectacular sunrise and sunset views from our home here in Scotland.

ElGuardiandenoche · 02/05/2020 01:51

@Theyweretheworstoftimes I love the Grand Mosque in AD. It's such a beautiful building and has a peace about it.

girlie123 · 02/05/2020 09:40

This view (minus hubby's legs).
Our view from the balcony when we went on holiday to Italy... It was amazing sitting there with our morning coffee and just soaking all that beautiful scenery up x

OutComeTheWolves · 02/05/2020 09:47

Yosemite and Lake Louise for me.

SerenDippitty · 02/05/2020 09:50

We once stayed in a cottage on Skye that had the most incredible views of Sleat Sound and the mountains on the mainland, from the kitchen, living room and bedroom. If I woke up n the morning and could see the mountains it was a nice day! At night we could see the lights of Mallaig twinkling.

heymammy · 02/05/2020 10:11

Rounding the bend on the A832 and seeing the turquoise water and palm trees at Gairloch on the west coast of Scotland made me gasp.

On the flip side, flying in to Las Vegas at night and seeing the twinkling lights of the city appear out of the pitch black. It felt so exciting 😁

The view on the way up and from the top of Ben Nevis is also pretty spectacular. I climbed it on one of the rare days the sun was splitting the clear skies.

Idontwantthis · 02/05/2020 13:53

@RoryGilmoree it wasn’t silhouette island by any chance was it?

hazelnutlatte · 02/05/2020 13:54

The New York skyline always makes me feel a bit tearful. I flew out of New York a few days after Sept 11 2001, seeing the devastation from the air is something I will never forget.

BikeRunSki · 02/05/2020 14:04

The Devon coast on the train between Exeter and Newton Abbott
The French Alps from the top of the Aiguille de Midi
Monaco from a balcony in Menton, a little further along the coast
Manhattan in the snow on my 40th!
Fingal’s cave
As above, the Namib dessert
Moab, Zion, Death Valley
The Hope Valley, Derbyshire
Every corner as I cycled round the Ring of Kerry
The view from the hill above my village in my little comet of Summer Wine country
The Blue Mosque, Istanbul
The Rift Valley, Ngorogoro Crater and Masai Mara

There are far too many breathtaking views to narrow it down to one!

Isoneedtorun · 03/05/2020 10:58

BikeRunSki I agree! I put at least a dozen, so enjoying reading about where everyone has been, don't want this thread to stop but it's slowing down Sad. So lovely to think about travel to amazing places instead of worrying about you know what x

BikeRunSki · 03/05/2020 11:19

The Liverpool skyline from the Mersey Ferry.

zingally · 03/05/2020 12:48

3 spring to mind.

  • The view from the top of Sulphur Mountain, Banff. Which is in the Canadian Rockies.
  • The Grand Canyon, Arizona.
  • Sunset from the caldera, Santorini.
ZaraW · 05/05/2020 06:01

The most spectacular view in the UK was in August in Scotland. The weather was beautiful, we caught the boat over to the Isle of May. Sat watching the puffins, terns, kitiwakes, gilimots on a beautiful small Island.

walksen · 05/05/2020 06:21

Top of mount kinabalu. Could see a thunder storm in the distance. Could see all the clouds lighting up but so far away you could not hear any thunder

EmbarrassedUser · 05/05/2020 07:01

Ooh that’s a toughie, I’ve narrowed it down to when we were in Iceland (no Northen lights though) Kerid crater was quite something though. There was also a black sand beach in the golden circle which was a sight to behold.

DuringDinnerMints · 05/05/2020 07:15

Being above the clouds in Shimla, India.

A glacier in Iceland.

The complete empty nothingness of the Gobi desert at sunrise.

Egghead68 · 05/05/2020 07:16

Grand Canyon, although it doesn’t seem real.

Yelllow · 05/05/2020 07:22

View from our suite in Capri 😍

ChasingRainbows19 · 05/05/2020 07:26

I'm lucky to have seen a few
Blue mountains
Whitsunday
Sunset Byron bay
Grand Canyon
Lake District - I love the contrast of fells and water like derwentwater and ullswater.

ChasingRainbows19 · 05/05/2020 07:29

forgot about the snow covered views when travelling in Iceland too.... never been on a snowy holiday so that was special to me.

Man made sights like New York views can also be special. Sunset on Empire State observation deck was beautiful last year.

Sorry I appreciate a lot of nice views..Blush

Jue01 · 05/05/2020 07:43

Driving from JFK airport to our hotel and seeing the Manhatten skyline - that view is amazing , I still get that same feeling whenever we go to New York.

Seeing the Northern Lights - spectacular.

Helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon.
