I honestly don't know. Possibly a beach in Bali.

Abroad:

Mt Cook or the Remarkables in New Zealand. Or the Franz Josef Glacier from Peter's Pool. (Though of the three, it's the former that I just kept stopping the car to look back).

In the uk:

North Beach on Lindisfarne. There's just so much sky.

And not leastly, my parents' out of the way, less popular Lake District valley. I was there alone one evening, and there was the most glorious purple and orange sunset. I realised my sister and parents had taken all the cameras (pre smart phones), so I just went up the fell by myself and sat there for an hour whilst the light played with the hills.

My other one is lying on the beach on Lizard Island in the Great Barrier Reef at night, with the clearest view of the Milky Way ever. It was spectacular, and a reminder of how small the world really is.

The limestone rock formations in phang nha bay. I went out on a boat trip going all around them and they are just incredible, we also got out and did kayaking in some of the formations you could get inside. It doesn’t even look real.

The drive from San Diego to Phoenix 20 years ago. Roads so straight and long they dropped off the horizon ahead. Barely another car, lots of tumbleweed. The view from my room at the Holbeck Ghyll over lake Windermere in autumn. The view of Liverpool from the Birkenhead waterfront is my favourite

New Zealand's South Island is stunning on the eye.

I also remember being mesmerized by the forts/palaces in northern India coming into view as you'd turn the corner... very special.

Great thread - really just what I needed to perk me up this morning!
Mine is the view of Lake Toba in Sumatra, the road in is quite elevated so you look down on this huge volcanic caldera surrounded by tropical lushness. I honestly felt that I had a sneak peek of heaven at that point.
Also loved the Norwegian Fjords!

Sunrise at the Mitzpe Ramon crater in Israel.
Also, the view we had of The Trossachs from our house when I was younger - that was pretty spectacular.

Flying over Paris at night. The sunset as we checked in to our hotel in Cape Verde. The beaches in the Dom. Republic. And weirdly the view from the Sky Garden in London. It took my breath away. Totally didn't expect it.

Watching Machu Picchu emerge from the fog at sunrise. Took hundreds of photos (in the days before digital) because each one seemed to be better than the one before!

Flying at low altitude over the Maldives was pretty special (and not something I'm likely to see again)

The North Face of the Eiger from a hotel balcony in Grindelwald.
A very close second would be the skyline of Istanbul seen from a boat on the Bosporus.

Thanks for this thread - lovely although slightly bittersweet!

Tough call. Seen some stunning views around Skye and the Highlands but also Cape Sounion in mainland Greece and the caldera at Santorini were amazing.

Alaska. Feeling very wistful as this time last year we were sailing up the Inside Passage to Juneau. I have a picture of us on the deck of the boat and the view behind us is so otherworldly with the mountains in the mist that it looks like we’re photoshopped on.

That day we took a helicopter up to one of the glaciers and stood by a staggeringly blue pool looking down over the mountains and plains. The views from the chopper were insane. Later on that day we took a cable car up to one of the peaks and the sunset was one of the best I’ve ever seen.

Three days later we were in Glacier Bay. We sailed in, in the mist and then whilst we were out on deck the mist lifted to reveal that we were surrounded by glaciers and mountains. I couldn’t help but cry, I was so overawed!

Grand Viewpoint Overlook in Utah, USA.
The thousands of temples in Bagan, Myanmar, at sunset.
Sydney Harbour.
And Iguazu Falls. Just jaw dropping.
I feel very fortunate.

Do just reminded me of Lake Louise in the snow, a bluebell wood in Dorset and Wastwater at sunrise.
This thread has really cheered me up.
Thank You 😊

Oh, and to take it a bit more man made...

Mostar, during the call to prayer, in a thunderstorm.

We were upgraded to a suite with a 180 degree balcony, and could hear the call to prayer whilst there was a cross lit up on the hill above the city, and lightning putting on a show in the mountains.

Beautiful place, and a stunning piece of natural theatre.

Iceland was beautiful, but New Zealand was so wonderful I cried when I left.

The sunset at Rick's Cafè in Jamaica.

The view over the Las Vegas strip at night whilst having a meal at the top of the Stratosphere, then going out onto the platform.

Times Square at night.

Snorkelling off a desert island near the Dominican Republic, I've never seen fish like it.
