I honestly don't know. Possibly a beach in Bali.

@Windyatthebeach St Mary's Island? Been there many a time when I was wee.

flyingspaghettimonster · 01/05/2020 19:37

I am not sure I can narrow it down to one. But I do love the sight of Wimpole folly from the lake below. It was a beloved hangout spot as a teen and I spent many happy picnics up there.

New Zealand

Greyscreendream · 01/05/2020 19:45

Santorini - caldera side. Simply breathtaking. Spent a week watching the most amazing sunsets.

Eaudeunaturale · 01/05/2020 19:48

As a teen I Went on a family holiday to Bodrum, Turkey. We visited this little beach outside of bodrum (I want to say Tinkum but I can’t remember the proper name)
Anyway it was just this tiny little beach and cafe surrounded by huge hills that made it almost seem like a lake, the water was so clear too

Sydney Harbour - from the top of the Bridge

Queenstown New Zealand - driving along the winding Glenorchy Rd above Lake Wakatipu

You can get married at St Mary's Lighthouse now!! We tried but didn't have the date we wanted available!!
Would have been fab wedding pics!

CandleNoBra · 01/05/2020 19:57

Pre 9/11
Got to sit in the cockpit of a jumbo as it landed at a major European airport. The view cutting through clouds in a bright blue sky at such speed and altitude was breathtaking.

Sunrise in Cappadocia, Turkey and Bagan, Myanmar. If I could live one moment a million times it would be one of those two mornings.

Bolivian Salt Flats. Couldn't tell where the sky met the earth in all directions, absolutely out of this world!

LionessRoar · 01/05/2020 20:49

Standing at the top of a glacier in Iceland

Cheddar Gorge. The twisting views as you turn each corner and look up, it's like a scene from Jurassic park. Every turn is breathtaking. The view from the top of the gorge is stunning, as is the village.

Skye. Here's a photo of mine to illustrate why......

So many beautiful places and views in Switzerland; Val d'anniviers probably my favourite. So switzerland for mountains and lakes.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Scotland and the north east coast for beaches. And basically all of the Scottish coast - even Aberdeen beach is pretty beautiful.

For cities - shanghai on the Bund or Tiananmen in Beijing, or Hong Kong harbour. My heart still lifts every time arrive into London - for me it's the most beautiful city in the world.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 01/05/2020 21:29

Entering the Ring of Kerry. The freakiest purple foggy landscape I've ever seen. I was there during the 1999 eclipse.
My drive to work every day (usually!). I live in the Lakes. It looks different every single time.

jakeyboy1 · 01/05/2020 22:00

I always remember my husbands face the first time he saw the beach in Barbados, literally speechless.

I'd go with any nice stretch of Caribbean beach, The Crane in Barbados, Seven Mile in Jamaica or the view of The Pitons in St Lucia.

Jealous of all the people who have been to Lake Louise that is on my list big time. We did a test run with the kids to Lake Garda last year and I found the views of that at dusk stunning too.

Yabusux · 01/05/2020 22:14

Agree with most of the above especially outdoorsy landscapes in the US, NZ and Scotland! But to add one I haven't seen on this thread: in Jerusalem, my first close up sight of the Dome of the Rock. According to my travel mate at the time, my jaw literally dropped open.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 01/05/2020 22:51

The view over Los A ngeles at night from the observatory on Griffth Park - a galaxy of light

I'd add a photo but it's useless; you've just got to be there

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 01/05/2020 22:55

I agree Puzzle and it’s so quite and peaceful too

Tunnocks34 · 01/05/2020 22:56

Not as adventurous as some of these, but in December 2013, I had been to visit my parents. I lived in Holmfirth at the time, and we were driving home during the dark over part of the Yorkshire moors. I went into labour in the car, not dramatic, a mild, bearable contraction which were regular. My husband stopped the car as I felt I just wanted to stand up, and as we got out there were about 5 or 6 shooting starts flying down in quick succession. I don’t know if it’s because we were having our first baby, or the magic of seeing these shooting starts but it actually made me cry. That view is second to only the faces of my children of course!

Sunset in Barbados. The sky was pink
