I don’t believe in ghosts but...

Hear me out here.

I do not believe in ghosts at all. But we moved recently into a Victorian house and DS’ room is above mine. Without fail, every night around this time 21.30-22.00, there is a very loud THUD from directly upstairs. As if DS has fallen out of bed. 10 seconds later the baby monitor switches on and he is sitting up (in bed - didn’t fall out), awake. Last night this happened at 1am.

It’s always 1-3 thuds which seem to wake him up. Once or twice it has happened and he hasn’t awoken and slept through. But usually...

WHAT IS THIS?!? Ghosty ghost?!

DH never hears it as he’s asleep or downstairs so it could also be me losing my mind. Very clear loud thud though...

@Becomingbatshit oooohhh, exciting! I hope it’s nothing scary and you get a good laugh out of what your son might say in his sleep. Keep us all posted😊

Come to think of it. I might set mine up in my room tonight to prove to my OH that he sounds like a horse eating a sugar cube next to me in bed (grinding teeth, chomping)😂😂

Just come up into our bedroom, directly underneath Ds’ room
Where I hear the THuds. We are up later than usual because of Unorthodox being so addictive. Anyway he has not moved on the monitor and feet are no where near the side of the bed/no kicking etc so will be interesting to hear on the app if there have been any thuds we didn’t hear due to being 2 floors down - they definitely weren’t caused him him. Managed to rope DH into staying up for another hour in our room to listen together.

Ok I don’t want to be anticlimactic but I’m preeeeeetty sure it’s DS kicking his mattress. Just heard a 2-3 thuds and saw on the monitor him kicking his little feet before rolling over!

Really hope that’s it! 🙌🏼

Bit mental if this little toddler kicking his feet on a mattress is creating such an almighty noise

100% DS! Sorry for disappointing anyone and thank you for everyone who suggested it’s him - I never would have imagined it. Clearly he has quite a specific movement schedule in his sleep 🤪

All's well that ends well!

You've saved me a fortune in postage: I was about to send you my Proton Pack!

And think what a fun story you can share with him when he gets older. Probably will be a favorite: "Mummy, tell me again about the time you thought I was a ghost!" Smile

AAAAAAND DS is napping in bed with us and there is a repetitive banging like footsteps coming from his room above. And the dog is barking at it from the bottom floor.

No, I’m not scared 😟

OP I had an idea of what it might have been before your recent update.
So in our house our widows make a loud crack if it’s been sunny in the day and then cooler at night, the plastic is contracting and makes a popping/bang sound. Normally around the same time of the evening, I was going to say it could be that but maybe not at 10am Shock

Ok.

I did a phone recording and haven’t listened. DH told me I am being stupid but I am back for 3 reasons. I am NOT making this up (been on MN for ages and I’m sure MNHQ can back that up).

Woke up at 01.20am last night. DS and DH both in my bed. Heard what sounded like someone running around upstairs. Tried to ignore and go back to sleep. 5 mins later a lot of bizarre clanging noises. At this point I woke DH up who confirmed he also heard them but isn’t a scaredy cat like me and went back to sleep.

Was terrified for ages. Slept. This evening sitting in living room an hour ago and suddenly a load of weird shit came down the chimney. Bearing in mind we had the chimney swept 3 months ago and it has a wire mesh on top of it.

What the fucking fuck.

I think DH should go up and leave his phone again this evening, once I’ve listened to the previous recording

It’s just fucking weird. Honestly I am not a woo person in the slightest (I know that’s a classic woo thing to say but I’m not!) but this is actually scaring me. I had this horrible feeling after the sounds at 1.20am that someone was going to rush up into my face
