To think chilli for lunch and bolognese for tea is ok?

DH thinks too samey.

He took a container of bean chilli out of the freezer to take to work for lunch today to have with rice.

Dinner was bolognese with pasta and garlic bread.

He’s bloody moaned all evening that he’s eaten the same food for lunch and dinner and it’s somehow my fault. Despite dinner having been on the meal plan stuck to the fridge since Saturday which he could have read if he was really that bothered.

Plus - bean chilli with rice and bolognese with pasta aren’t that similar? The only ingredients in common are onions and tomatoes. He might have had more of a point if it was chilli with minced beef but it wasn’t.

He should make something for himself if he’s unhappy.

This isn’t your fault. Tell him to stop whinging. He could have just looked and seen what was for dinner.

KitKatKit · 22/04/2020 20:27

I was about to say it sounded samey BUT if there was only beef in one, it's totally fine!

Herpesfreesince03 · 22/04/2020 20:28

I couldn’t eat Bolognese and chilli in the same week, let alone the same day

Blackandgreenteas · 22/04/2020 20:29

Wow isn’t he lucky to have someone cook dinner for him? I’d love that!

PickAChew · 22/04/2020 20:29

He needs to grow the fuck up.

Dieu · 22/04/2020 20:30

I'd be farting like a trooper with all that mince! Sorry, but beef disagrees with me a bit.
The meals do sound lovely though, and I definitely wouldn't complain ... although you might Grin

If you're cooking you can have whatever you want, if you're not cooking you eat what you get. Moaning. I wouldn't leave him a meal all week

redwinefine · 22/04/2020 20:31

I think it's unreasonable only because it's two 'hot' meals in one day!

opticaldelusion · 22/04/2020 20:31

I'd happily eat chilli for breakfast, lunch and tea. Every day.

Dozer · 22/04/2020 20:32

Facilitated, fussy man.

recrudescence · 22/04/2020 20:37

Two nice meals. If my husband complained about these he’d be wearing them.

CCaK · 22/04/2020 20:40

Point him towards the cooker and tell the ungrateful twat that he's very welcome to cook his own meals, starting now.

I'm dying for garlic bread now.

wowbutter · 22/04/2020 20:41

I frequently eat three hot meals a day.
In my house you eat what I cook without moaning, or you cook your own. End of.

Killedherhusbandwhackedhim · 22/04/2020 20:44

They are literally my 2 favourite meals, so I would welcome it! Tell him to get a grip, if he doesn't like it, he can make his own.. And I can have his portion WinkGrin

ZezetteEpouseX · 22/04/2020 20:50

He should make diner himself. I agree it's not a great choice, but if you don't make it, you lose the right to complain.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 22/04/2020 20:50

Well obviously yanbu. Can't you come up with something more interesting than that?

Mlou32 · 22/04/2020 20:52

Tell him to make his own tea then!

Mildpanic · 22/04/2020 20:54

Christ, if that is his biggest grievance atm them jog on!

CharlotteCollinsneeLucas · 22/04/2020 20:54

If he's eating it, he doesn't get to complain. If he feels like complaining, he should come up with a solution. If I felt like that was too much, I'd make a light snack so that the rest of my family could enjoy their cooked meal. Disgraceful behaviour.

Maduixa · 22/04/2020 20:55

Sounds like a spoiled child, honestly. I'd just "agree" with him that it was poor planning on his part to choose the chili if he finds it too similar to the planned Bolognese. And leave him to his moaning if he's genuinely unable to stop. It's not the end of the world even if he had the exact SAME meal for lunch and dinner.

Klonda · 22/04/2020 20:56

Poor, poor guy. Maybe we can arrange a clap for him tomorrow? Show our support.

TomPinch · 22/04/2020 20:56

It's OK if I can have some.

justanotherneighinparadise · 22/04/2020 20:57

My partner is the sane abs I have ZERO time for it. He gets the Paddington stare if he even tries to pull that shit with me. People are dying of starvation around the world and someone wants to moan to me about two servings of beef in a day? Piss off.

justanotherneighinparadise · 22/04/2020 20:58

@Klonda 🤣
