To think chilli for lunch and bolognese for tea is ok?

DH thinks too samey.

He took a container of bean chilli out of the freezer to take to work for lunch today to have with rice.

Dinner was bolognese with pasta and garlic bread.

He’s bloody moaned all evening that he’s eaten the same food for lunch and dinner and it’s somehow my fault. Despite dinner having been on the meal plan stuck to the fridge since Saturday which he could have read if he was really that bothered.

Plus - bean chilli with rice and bolognese with pasta aren’t that similar? The only ingredients in common are onions and tomatoes. He might have had more of a point if it was chilli with minced beef but it wasn’t.

Ask him why he’s moaning at you. Remind him that he’s the prat who didn’t bother looking at the meal planner so it’s his own fault. Tell him that you don’t want to listen to him whining about it anymore and Sunday evening, you expect him to sit down with you and contribute to the meal plan for the following week.

Straw man there, Barbara. Sandwiches and crisps are pretty much the definition of empty calories.

Men do have higher calorie needs than us but unless he is young and a bit of a weekend warrior or has the leisure for daily gym sessions, it is likely that two full meals a day (plus breakfast, snacks, drinks...) is going to leave him with a spare tyre if he is sedentary all day.

You only need to look around at any office full of misshapen middle-aged men to see this! Or am I just unlucky in my workplace?

Crisps maybe, but surely it depends what’s in your sandwich whether it’s nutritious or not.

Sandwiches are hardly that bad. My wholemeal seeded loaf actually has protein, fat and fibre - with a healthy filling it's not a bad lunch at all.

SerenDippitty · 23/04/2020 11:37

A carrot, hummus and salad sandwich with seeded wholemeal bread would be pretty nutritious I’d have thought.

Madein1995 · 23/04/2020 11:57

I wouldn't each both in the same day as the only real difference in the sauces I do is kidney beans and chilli spices.

However hes a grown man and if he didnt like tea he could have made something else. He could have knocked up a different sauce for the pasta or just made himself some toast. Hes a twat.

@Klonda
"Poor, poor guy. Maybe we can arrange a clap for him tomorrow? Show our support."

Oh god that has made me laugh so much Grin

I need to get out more........oh.

UponTheBlueGuitar · 23/04/2020 14:22

That's true. Not all bread is shite. Just the stuff I want to eat.🤣

georgialondon · 23/04/2020 14:26

I agree it's samey

RightOnTheEdge · 23/04/2020 14:41

He is BVU.
He took the chilli without checking the meal plan. His fault. He could have made himself something else for tea if he didn't want bolognese.
I couldn't put up with him moaning at me about that.

So for the people who can't eat more than one hot meal a day, does that mean if you have a cooked breakfast you have to eat cold food for the rest of the day?
Or if you have soup, beans on toast, scrambled egg etc for lunch you have to have a cold tea?

Bluewater1 · 23/04/2020 14:42

Tell him to cook

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/04/2020 21:01

How can you eat two actual heavy full hot meals in one day?!

Easy!

Ruffins · 24/04/2020 21:29

How can you eat two actual heavy full hot meals in one day?!

I'd happily eat 3.

Bacon and eggs

Jacket and beans.

Roast for dinner. 👍

delilahbucket · 24/04/2020 21:40

Crikey he needs a hobby if that's the biggest of his problems!

Saracen · 25/04/2020 00:17

I agree with him that it's too samey. I don't see why on earth this is your fault or your problem.

Areyoukiddingme99 · 01/06/2020 21:26

@Popcat120

He's right. Too much red meat in one day. They are virtually the same meal. Red meat is the worse to digest also... Just saying.
