AIBU sold a pram but she wants refund

AIBU?
I put an add on gumtree selling cosatto pram for £120 (happy camper giggle 2, fashionable style costing £480 when new 18months ago). I said it had some stains on it and was otherwise in great shape. Car seat carrycot and sit up section with rain cover. All cleaned apart from the stain in the foot muff and hood, but everything else like new.
A lady responded. She arranged to come with her partner.her partner turned up I showed him the pram including one of the two stains and said the sit up bit would need a clean. He looked breifly at it, he didn't say anything about the stains, just ok, he seemed friendly, gave me the money and I helped him carry it to the car where his partner was (social distancing was abided). He loaded it to the car she did not get out of the car. 30mins later I get a text asking if she could bring it back as it's faulty, two mins later I miss two phone calls and get a text saying that she is bringing it back. I miss the calls and text asking what fault, She says it's dirty and faulty because it has stains, I said I did mention the stains and I had showed her partner all but one stain. She said "we can pay you visits at 3am". I asked what she meant (as it was 4.30pm). Twenty mins later her partner turns up and starts saying give me our money back we are calling the police. I am out at the shop at this point so my partner answers.
I have no idea if they called the police.
Since then she has text me calling me swear words and says I scammed her. I am on here asking if I'm being unreasonable because there was one stain I didn't show, it's about the size of the ring of a coffe cup, inside the foot muff where a toddlers feet would go. Everything else is really in perfect condition its a brill pram and I even took the car seat cover off and cleaned everything inside there, the carrycot had only been used twice. I feel a bit bad because when I was pregnant I was very stressy, but this woman has sworn at me via text, I've sent nice replies I've offered to clean the stain myself, send her cleaning equipment to clean it, and find a replacement foot muff or take £10 off the price, a good will gesture. She says she will have to buy a different pram now as doesnt want her baby in a stained pram.
What do you think, should I offer her a full refund or something else or nothing? AIBU?

They sound like horrible, aggressive people with unrealistic expectations, but in the circumstances I agree with pps - let them return the pram and give them their money back.

It might be that they are hoping you'll offer a partial refund - this is something people often do on eBay to get things cheap - so I would just be very calm and agree to take the pram back for a full refund. As pps have said, check it over to make sure you're getting the same one back!

Troels · 22/04/2020 07:32

They might be trying to do a switch, and bring back a broken one she already has and say it's the one you sold. I'd block the number and leave them to it. Save the messages and if they turn up call the police.

DysonFury · 22/04/2020 07:35

Your replies offering to clean it or send cleaning products are an admission that it was dirty and thus evidence if she decides to Small Claims Court you.

TiredofSM · 22/04/2020 07:37

I would refund.
They obviously got it home, the lady looked at it and decided it was too stained. It was within 30 minutes.
It would be different if they had had it a while and then changed their minds.

ShleeAnKree · 22/04/2020 07:38

They are assholes but if you feel scared, refund them.

TheGreatWave · 22/04/2020 07:39

If within 30 mins she said she doesn't want it and brings it back why don't you just give the money back?

The whole situation screams scam to me, I am quite suspicious that within 30 minutes, they had time to get home, get the pram out of the car, and have a good look and get so riled that they then ring the OP up aggressively demanding a refund.

The OP should have cleaned parts better, but chances are this is not some little sob story. This is how scammers work and they get away with it because posters like the above are too trusting.

The buyers may be being totally genuine, but I would go with the feeling they are not.

OneForTheRoadThen · 22/04/2020 07:45

It's really grim to sell dirty and stained things. Just give them a wash beforehand!

@DysonFury but it was described as stained in the advert so that makes no difference.

scubadive · 22/04/2020 07:51

She’s in the wrong but you should have let her bring it straight back. Life’s too short, no skin of your nose unless you turned other buyers down for them.

StealthMama · 22/04/2020 07:53

Sold as seen. Regardless of the ad, they viewed it before agreeing to purchase. End of.

TreeTopTim · 22/04/2020 07:57

Do you have a copy of the advert? I would make sure that you do and let them take you to court for it.

You described it as stained and that is what it is. It screams scam to me.

Tootletum · 22/04/2020 07:58

I've stopped selling anything online because of this crap.

ScarletFever · 22/04/2020 07:58

I would check it VERY carefully if you decide to take it back

Passmethepepsi · 22/04/2020 07:59

After 30 minutes I’d have given them the money back, cleaned it up a bit and resold. They seem like a nightmare but it’s just not worth the hassle.

As a totally unrelated side I love my happy camper, so I’m sure it’ll resell quickly!

Dieu · 22/04/2020 08:02

I'd have given the money back. It's not like they contacted you a week later. YABU.

Poetryinaction · 22/04/2020 08:05

I sold a pram before lockdown with no stains. Carrycot, toddler seat, raincovers, bags, etc etc. No stains, £30.
£120 is a lot. I would have thought you'd clean it before selling it, especially in these times.
However, if you agreed the price and condition it wasn't a scam. She was just disappointed and wants a refund. They shouldn't be threatening. You should just agree, clean it, store it, and try again after lockdown with a fairer price.

Washyourhandsyoufilthyanimal · 22/04/2020 08:06

Yeah refund and sell again. Who needs this bother? £120 is so cheap for a pram! What was she expecting? My pram cost over 1k!

seltaeb · 22/04/2020 08:06

Just give them a refund as long as they return the pram in the condition it was sold in. A badly stained pram is probably not worth £120 and cannot realistically be described as in 'great shape' or 'like new'.

Worriedmutt · 22/04/2020 08:10

Caveat emptor - buyer beware. If they wanted to be able to get a refund they should have bought on eBay. If they don't want it they can resell it. Not your problem.

CelestialSpanking · 22/04/2020 08:12

I would have just given them their money back (for a quiet life) right up until they threatened me with coming round at 3am and sending disgusting messages. Then I’d stop all communication with them and report them to the police if they persisted.

WilburIsSomePig · 22/04/2020 08:15

YANBU it was sold as seen. Though I too would refund for a quiet life but I would clean it properly before trying to sell it again.

midnightstar66 · 22/04/2020 08:18

Why don't you just give her the money back and save all the hassle. Clean the pram properly and re advertise

MrsJBaptiste · 22/04/2020 08:21

In the middle of a lockdown when most shops are shut and we're not allowed to see friends and family, are people still selling things online and meeting random people to swap the goods? FFS.

MyOwnSummer · 22/04/2020 08:24

I don't think you should refund her - I've done a lot of buying and selling on gumtree and her behaviour is ridiculous. Nor would I give in to threats.

They bought it as seen, then changed their mind. Had they behaved politely from that point on, I'd consider refunding them but escalating to threats? Nah. Fuck that noise. Block the daft cow!

dottiedodah · 22/04/2020 08:28

Its not really worth the hassle though is it? She sounds like she wont give in, and you will have enough stress ATM with Covid without any added ! TBH You didnt show her DP the inner stain ,and people want everything spotless ! Try and wash what parts of the pram you can and dry outside in this lovely sunshine ,that will make the next buyer warm to it .Refund and move on!
