DH won't stop playing with himself

This is semi light hearted, but this habit has been getting on my nerves in these fractious lock down times.

DH ALWAYS has his hands down his trousers, 'fiddling' with his bits when we are sitting on the sofa. It's not sexual, he isn't masturbating, and isn't erect, but basically the whole time we are watching tv or talking he will just be fiddling with himself, I don't know how else to describe it.

He's done it for years and I've mentioned it a couple of times, he just says he finds it comforting and gets a bit annoyed if I mention it or says I'm nagging. Just recently when we are trapped indoors together it's REALLY started to annoy me and I don't know why. I just find it a bit impolite? I have no issue with him masturbating properly in private, or scratching himself if he has an itch, but he'll just do it for ages and doesn't even have the decency to hide it under a blanket! ARGH. So IABU and a prude?

Ewww revolting. I've never known DH or any man do this.

Boshmama · 20/04/2020 19:31

Absolutely disgusting 🤢

My DH sometimes does this before fallt

Sparklingbrook · 20/04/2020 19:32

Can you imagine walking up towards your fiance on your wedding day and there he is, gazing adoringly at you-with his hands in his pants having a good fiddle?
Comforting himself presumably-wedding days are stressful. Wink

Alleycat1 · 20/04/2020 19:32

Unbelievably gross! No men that I know of over the age of three do this, thank God!

Boshmama · 20/04/2020 19:33

Sorry dropped my phone in outrage! DH does this sometimes as he is falling asleep but it's very rare and I always mention it 🤢

OneKeyAtATime · 20/04/2020 19:33

Rude, disrespectful and revolting. I wouldn't put up with it

YesThatIsMyRealName · 20/04/2020 19:36

No, it's not a 'bloke thing', it is a poorly-educated, unhygienic thing.

duletty · 20/04/2020 19:39

This is a bit like
X won’t stop picking their nose, boinging the bogey and flicking it at the cat
Or
X won’t stop opening the fridge door, picking up items from within, sniffing them and huffing and puffing at whatever displeases them
Or
X has a shower in the morning for 40 minutes whilst playing loud music and singing along to wish you were here

I cannot abide these man childs 😡
Stop fiddling, twiddling, flicking or fondling and grow up

ALongHardWinter · 20/04/2020 19:39

I'm sure he'd soon have something to say if YOU started doing this to yourself. Grin

BusterGonad · 20/04/2020 19:42

I would just presume any man that does this is a simpleton tbh.

Sertchgi123 · 20/04/2020 19:47

How the hell have you not put a stop to this? It's not acceptable behaviour if you're with someone else. Make him stop.

DocHolliday · 20/04/2020 19:48

Does he do loft conversions in the North West?

The knob head cowboy builder working next door FOR MONTHS, often stood on the roof rummaging one handed down his jogging pants, his ciggie in the other.

Sadly, he never seemed to get his hands mixed up. I lived in hope.

thecatsarecrazy · 20/04/2020 19:50

My 3 year old does it but he doesn't know any better. Get a squirty bottle and spray him every time he does it

DocHolliday · 20/04/2020 19:51

To add. The neighbourhood PCSO had to tell our rummager to stop playing with his scaffolding.

ukgift2016 · 20/04/2020 19:55

I don't think this is 'normal' either. Men in my life have never done this...my partner will adjust himself at times but that's as far as it goes.

I do think if mother let their young sons get away with holding their bits in public they may be more likely as adults to think this is acceptable behaviour.

Sugartitss · 20/04/2020 20:04

just leave him be. why do women always want to change their partners!

luckylavender · 20/04/2020 20:04

My DS used to do it as a toddler - but DH, no way. How can you put up with that?

Bakedbrie · 20/04/2020 20:07

Maybe he has pubic lice? 🤔 he could pop to the chemist and ask the pharmacist for a preparation in a nice loud, clear voice!

laidbacklife · 20/04/2020 20:13

That is revolting and no, it’s not normal. What he is doing is really poor form and he should make a concerted effort to stop.

Aridane · 20/04/2020 20:22

‘Grim’ has,to be the most over used word on Mumsnet

Aridane · 20/04/2020 20:25

Ha ha - and this is allegedly why it’s so widespread

NoMoreDickheads · 20/04/2020 20:37

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

You're not wrong. It's like picking your nose in front of someone, but far worse.

runrabbitrunrunrun · 20/04/2020 20:44

His penis hands will be touching everything in your house 😱
