Elton John

Did anyone else think something wasn’t right when Elton John was singing in world together? He sounded like his tongue was too big for mouth. Myself and DP had a good giggle at his performance. Apologies if this offends anyone, I completely understand the cause it was for and appreciate our front line/key workers, DP is a front line worker and I’m vulnerable.

I love lots of Elton John's stuff but yes, his singing was strange - I said at the time it was as if he'd forgotten his consonants. But actually Paul McCartney was worse - his wobbliest performance ever and that's saying something... Funnily enough the only British performance with a bit of class and musicality was the Rolling Stones- and they happily admit they've been pickled for years!

Sorry have been so busy with work the past few days, I can’t wait for normality to resume 😤 good to see we aren’t the only ones that noticed eltons performance didn’t seem right. As I’ve said, it was never meant as an attack on him- just picking on up on this performance not being his usual self 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dd said it didn't sound like the real version
But he is older singing outside with no mixing or editing and rubbish acoustics before any other issues around his self.
He did well

Great effort by EJ but his articulation was rather off. Sorry.

LuluJakey1 · 22/04/2020 00:31

There is nothing about him I like or admire.

I immediately said it sounded like Vic Reeves Club Style and so did the Guardian review! I agree with the poster who said well done to him for singing something poppy and upbeat, it was allá bit earnest. Surprisingly, I thought the standout performance was Little Mix singing from their bathrooms. And one of them managed to sing pretty well through a serious gob-load of lip filler!

A Single Man was my very first album. Actually a tape. I was maybe 6?

Top five songs in no particular order
Daniel
Madness
The greatest discovery
Ticking
Rocket Man

I'm surprised that PP's suggest that fillers or botox could behind his poor articulation...I genuinely assumed he didn't use either.

That's not a compliment, sorry, EJ! Grin

Ah that video made me laugh. I personally wonder whether he can’t get to his dentist during lockdown and is wearing an ill fitting set of teeth.

happyandsingle · 02/05/2020 15:01

Tom Jones is in his 70s but still sounds great.

Piapea · 02/05/2020 18:43

I think the de-esser was just turned up too high. It eliminated all of his 's' sounds and made him sound a bit like he hadn't put his teeth in Grin
