Did anyone else think something wasn’t right when Elton John was singing in world together? He sounded like his tongue was too big for mouth. Myself and DP had a good giggle at his performance. Apologies if this offends anyone, I completely understand the cause it was for and appreciate our front line/key workers, DP is a front line worker and I’m vulnerable.

A cold, hay fever or a problem with his teeth?

Or maybe he didn’t have sound technicians around to help

MovingBriskyOn · 20/04/2020 00:52

Can you feel the love tonight?

FoolishWife · 20/04/2020 00:53

I noticed his diction was a bit off but he was one of the few artists to sing something uplifting. I thought thexshoke thing was a bit dreary. I know the sentiment was there, and I was moved in some parts, but just feel as a nation we could have done with a few bops and more uplifting songs to help lift tan nations mood. Elton certainly brought a bit if cheer to the evening.

@Bronzedoor72
Yes, you go and have your good giggle, enjoy your laughs, enjoy your sniggering. Have a good piss take, go for it op. Get your laughs here, gawping gasping at the old man doing his best. Really let rip, start a thread so that everyone else can join in your good giggle. Snigger away and have fun with your DH and invite all to have a good piss take, it's just a joke, or is it banter?

MissHoskins · 20/04/2020 00:55

I'm sure yourself and your DH enjoyed ripping the piss out of Elton Johns

bookishtartlet · 20/04/2020 00:56

He sounded terrible, very shouty, not finishing words. Don't know why people are getting their tits in a flap over you saying this. You're not laughing at his health problems.

IgiveupallthenamesIwantedareg0 · 20/04/2020 00:57

I remember seeing Elton John in the Empire in Edinburgh, very early seventies- without the Fancy glasses an sparkly suits - just pure Talent and good, good Music. Don't dare say a word against him ! I love Reginald Dwight

Flipswhitefudge · 20/04/2020 00:59

He really did sound terrible.

Bronzedoor72 · 20/04/2020 01:00

Thank you @bookishtartlet I am in no way making fun of his health. We just thought he sounded off tonight0. I can see now I didn’t phrase my OP right and maybe AIBU wasn’t the right place to post this. First few posts so I live and learn..

Oh for crying out loud, it's not mean or nasty. The man is a performer who is worldwide famous for it, making millions. Are we supposed to pretend not to notice?

Karwomannghia · 20/04/2020 01:05

It appears so but blatantly everyone did!

StartupRepair · 20/04/2020 01:05

I saw him live about 10 weeks ago. He was brilliant and performed for nearly 3 hours.

Alsohuman · 20/04/2020 01:08

It wasn’t great. Better than McCartney though. Now that was tragic.

RubyMonster · 20/04/2020 01:09

I thought he possibly wasn’t very well. I hope he’s ok. He’s amazingly talented.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 20/04/2020 01:11

“I enjoyed having a laugh with him.”

Having a laugh with him. What is he your best mate. ConfusedGrin

MissHoskins · 20/04/2020 01:14

@YgritteSnow
There's a difference between pretending not to notice and starting a thread to laugh and mock.
Op could have enjoyed her sniggering with her DH but she chose to start a thread to encourage others to take the piss too.

Brogley · 20/04/2020 01:16

I enjoyed having a laugh with him

"I was laughing with him not at him..." is the usual excuse trotted out when people are caught taking the piss out of those who are unwell, disabled, or just plain old different.

Oddly enough, the laughter always seems to be one sided which suggested it was directed at the other person rather than being a shared joke.

It's a crappy excuse for crappy behaviour.

MargotLovedTom1 · 20/04/2020 01:16

FFS MissHoskins chill out!

"Duptynuptydodadodaneeeerstunrna" - he sounds like a Vic and Bob club singer parody of himself. made me laugh.

YgritteSnow · 20/04/2020 01:17

So what? This is a discussion board and that's what she wanted to discuss. It's certainly not deserving of your ridiculously emotive posts earlier on on this thread 🙄

Brogley · 20/04/2020 01:19

Would you laugh at someone with a speech impediment? Or a disability? Or a long-term illness?

twirlycat77 · 20/04/2020 01:19

We must only speak highly of all celebs. Keep their egos inflated. Crikey there’s some uptight people about.Sorry I don’t buy into all this celeb worship.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 20/04/2020 01:20

Good lord the snowflake fun police are out tonight aren't they.

Yes elton was bizarre tonight and I even commented to my OH that he'd become a caricature of himself

Bronzedoor72 · 20/04/2020 01:20

I wasn’t mocking, I asked if anyone else noticed it? Surely we aren’t the only couple in UK to notice the way he sang tonight. And btw, I haven’t said DH in my posts- he’s DP.

OP posts:
YgritteSnow · 20/04/2020 01:20

No. How is this relevant when he has none of these issues?

Brogley · 20/04/2020 01:20

It's not celeb worship. I'm not an Elton John fan however I don't think it is acceptable to mock people for physical difficulties relating to ill health.
