Neighbours and my WIFI

Imrubbishatuserables · 19/04/2020 21:15

Hey!
Straight to point I got a new neighbour in my block of flat a few months ago and she asked for my wifi password to connect her console to so they could watch netflix.. i thought why not.. one other thing connected to it wont harm and she has just moved in.. it's her first home she hasn't had chance to set up her own yet. She then gets a new tv in the last few weeks and connects to my wifi but she has also connected her phone and her mates phone to it as well as they are picking up our google speakers on the network her mate joked they should play songs through my sons one in his room from their phones. So I have no idea how to change the password but would I be unreasonable to turn it off every night at 8PM? Considering we are in lockdown and she cant get her own during this time as they will need to come and connect it up. Previous tenant in that flat never had wifi either.

If all you did was reboot it, they'll be able to log back on.

To save me time... What network are you on, and what's the name of you router (it'll be on the back).

I'm fairly good at finding this stuff ... Usually! lol

This thread is making me want to scream full throttle into a cushion.

And yet you can't find that the OP posted the information you're asking for about 2 days ago GrinGrin

Imrubbishatuserables · 21/04/2020 13:50

@MacBlank I have changed the password and the router name different from the one on the back haha. I have had to reconnect every device in the walls of my household..

@Imrubbishatuserables
Hi ya, if you've reset pword, then it's fine,

Well done on finding out how and doing it.

Took me a few goes first time I did it.

Don't forget to save the page you used to do this (on top of webpage are the three dots, open to click, BOOKMARK) Saving the page makes it easier to find again should you need to.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 21/04/2020 14:29

If neighbour asks whats happened to wifi again and you don't want a CF confrontational discussion, just tell her your keeping it turned off because you've heard a rumour that just like the 5G masts, Wifi connections spread corona virus. (but it's a secret, so don't tell anyone)

SavoyCabbage · 21/04/2020 14:32

You don't need to invest your valuable time into research as she did it all herself less than two hours after she initially posted on Sunday. It's Tuesday now.

She changed it before you said

"Stop being so bloody stupid."

And before you said

"You are being a sap and now a mug, soon you'll need to get WELCOME tattooed on.your head!"

'To save time' .. irony. Would save us all a lot of time if people RTFT. Well done OP. Cheeky Fucker of the highest order

LonelyFromCorona · 21/04/2020 14:53

@Imrubbishatuserables make sure that pressing that button hasn't reset the whole route back to factory settings i.e. the original WiFi name and password, as neighbour will be able to get on it again. Has it kept the name you changed it to?

I think access to posting on this thread should be password protected...

@LonelyFromCorona it didnt change anything I checked as soon as played about with it again.

@hendersonhen there was no information on the router with log in details

The company is pretty shit. Didnt send any information with the router. Just the router and one wire to plug it in with. I had to scroll through pages of google to find the password to get into the settings it wasnt admin.

You would understand if you live in the area I do

There's nothing as entertaining as a cf , from a distance obviously, I wouldn't want to actually meet her in RL.
I think you handled it fine . You'll be wise to get from now on .

JudyCoolibar · 21/04/2020 15:42

I read it, did you read.mine properly.... I said.... If you had sky, I would've sent you.... Clue there was the ... IF YOU HAD

@MacBlank, the fact remains that the question of whether OP had Sky or not was utterly irrelevant because she had sorted the problem several hours beforehand. As you would have discovered had you bothered to read her posts before trying to tell her that she was the stupid one rather than you.

Hilarious that, even after claiming that you had read them, you were still totally unaware this afternoon of the fact that she didn't need your valuable research.

MacBlank · 21/04/2020 15:51

Judy put the wine down, and do something cos you're obviously bored.

Why would i.care that the op had already sorted before offering to help.

You may have time to read 17 or.so pages of chat to see who had/nt responded or whether the problem had been solved, or not.

It really doesn't matter. Obviously to you it does, sad really tbh!

JimDuggansEye · 21/04/2020 16:00

You're obviously a narcissist. You care enough to post your twee little advice days after the problem was solved, assuming the hundreds of other posts are from stupid little women who couldnt possibly have the insight and intelligence you do so you must, must tell the OP what to do.

CrazyTimesAreOccurring · 21/04/2020 16:08

Why would i.care that the op had already sorted before offering to help.

Err... why would you not care that you were wasting your time by 'helping' in a way hundreds of posts before you already had? and so end up looking like a twit

Spiffingly · 21/04/2020 16:12

Change your door, then she won't find you.

Imrubbishatuserables · 21/04/2020 16:22

@Spiffingly I wish I could pick up my section of the building and move it elsewhere haha.

So still no Knock in the door then?!

LovingLola · 21/04/2020 16:38

@Daftapath
Sorry for going off topic but how do you highlight an op’s posts?

suze28 · 21/04/2020 16:41

I'm on the app and the OP's name is a different colour. I assumed that was an automatic thing.

bananaskinsnomnom · 21/04/2020 16:46

OP posts are always green, mine are always pink. Does not everyone have this? Hmm

Glad you haven’t had a knock on the door OP. Hopefully the idiot has realised now that she can’t mug people off.
