Isn’t there a princess in Europe that’s now working as a HCA?

A queen somewhere in Asia cooking for the poor?

Harry and Meghan delivering meals?

Bet if Diana was here she’d be out doing everything in her power to help the ordinary folk 💪

OP posts:

Staying home like everyone is supposed to be doing

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 19/04/2020 14:43

What a horrible nasty thread, the heading at the start says it all really

Yes peasants. Be nice.

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 14:44

Wolfgirrl - Who on here has said she has lovely hair? Haha. I thought that was the job of the tabloids.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 14:51

@Lifeisgenerallyfun apart from nurses, doctors, healthcare practitioners, cleaners, supermarket workers, care home assistants, midwives, bin men, the 1 million NHS volunteers and the further millions that are running errands on behalf of the vulnerable.

But at least they can all face the virus knowing the royals are behind them. About 300 miles behind them, on a tennis court in the sun.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 14:52

@Mamamia456 one of the posters on this thread!

twirlycat77 · 19/04/2020 14:52

Laughing at the thought of the royals making secret donations of millions, but modestly keeping quiet so as not to blow their own trumpet. The humanitarian royal family. 😂😂😂

MimiLaRue · 19/04/2020 14:53

Meghan and Harry delivered to a massive six addresses wow

Youre joking? wow- that photo op of them doing it must have been just that- a photo op. They made it look like they were slaving away

Urgh.

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 14:57

Wolfgirrl - Not to detract from Tom Moore who has raised an enormous amount, but just the Queen alone has raised billions for charities during her reign. Each member of the royal family (well maybe not Andrew! ) receive hundreds of requests a year from charities asking them to be patrons as having a royal name associated with a charity raises its profile, and therefore raises more money.

sonjadog · 19/04/2020 14:58

I agree with the OP. I generally don't give the royals much thought but came across a video of them a couple fo days back and it occurred to me that they really have been very silent these last weeks. What happened to being figureheads for the nation and inspiring people in difficult times? They seem to be happy in their big houses doing the odd video. Not exactly high stress, national leadership.

I also don't buy the "busy homeschooling" thing. For one thing, they have a nanny and it doesn't take three people to homeschool three children, one of whom isn't even at school yet, and secondly, they aren´t trying to WFH while doing it, unlike a lot of the rest of us.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 14:58

@mamamia456

Can you please tell me the source of your numbers?

And can you also provide evidence that the donations were made specifically because the patrons of the charities were royal.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 19/04/2020 15:06

The charity that my friend works for has the Queen for its patron.
People give money to that charity because of the work that they do to find a cure for cancer, nit because of who their patron is. Frankly I doubt the general public even know. I only know because my friend told me, and she only knows because she saw it on some documents.

Does the Queen ever do anything for that charity? Like fuck she does.

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 15:06

Wolfgirrl - Are you sure you haven't got confused with heir and hair 😁

derxa · 19/04/2020 15:09

www.charitytimes.com/ct/comment-research-highlights-the-benefits-of-royal-patronage-to-charities%20.php
A major benefit was that royal patronage can boost fundraising. One charity said, ‘with buckets being shaken everywhere, it’s harder and harder to make money. But anything that’s attached to The Queen creates a trust’.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 15:12

So do we credit celebrity patrons for all of the funds raised by their respective charities? E.g. Simon Cowell is indirectly responsible for all funds raised by Breast Cancer Awareness.

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 15:15

Thing is its clear that some posters hate the RF - we hear you but we don't agree with you....end of.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 15:18

@madamebee

So you dont have a leg to stand on, basically.

derxa · 19/04/2020 15:18

So do we credit celebrity patrons for all of the funds raised by their respective charities? E.g. Simon Cowell is indirectly responsible for all funds raised by Breast Cancer Awareness. No. You didn't read the quote from the article. If the Queen is patron then it is a trusted brand.

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 15:20

Wolfgirrl - Charities Aid Foundation

MsTSwift · 19/04/2020 15:20

I don’t think anyone “hates” the royals as individuals I am sure they are perfectly decent people (Andrew excepted obviously). A family member has worked with them they are ok but nothing special. It’s the concept I struggle with that in this day and age a rather dull family are lauded fawned over and given millions from the public purse. It doesn’t stand up to any sort of critical examination. I find it all rather embarrassing tbh.

derxa · 19/04/2020 15:21

apart from nurses, doctors, healthcare practitioners, cleaners, supermarket workers, care home assistants, midwives, bin men, the 1 million NHS volunteers and the further millions that are running errands on behalf of the vulnerable. Are you any of these people, Wolf

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 15:21

Why do I need a leg to stand on?

We have a Royal Family and I am quite ok with that.

CathyorClaire · 19/04/2020 15:22

we hear you but we don't agree with you....end of

If pro-RF posters could provide reasoned arguments and statistics to support vague claims it might be end of. But they never can...

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 15:25

Wolfgirrl - Just because other people disagree with your views doesn't mean they're wrong and you're right. The majority of people in this country want a royal family.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 15:26

Are you any of these people, Wolf

I don’t see why ordinary people, who are mostly trying to secure their income to feed their families in dire circumstances, should be held to the same standards as the future heads of state, who are given millions in public funds to do that job.

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 15:27

MsTSwift - I'd say they were anything but dull!
