Isn’t there a princess in Europe that’s now working as a HCA?

A queen somewhere in Asia cooking for the poor?

Harry and Meghan delivering meals?

Bet if Diana was here she’d be out doing everything in her power to help the ordinary folk 💪

Ok one for the royalists.

Why this family to be singled out for all the power and privilege?

Do you believe they are divinely appointed by god to rule over you?

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 15:28

It's not the fact you disagree with me. It's the fact you dont have a single logical argument for disagreeing with me. Not one.

CathyorClaire · 19/04/2020 15:30

Can't believe there's an article citing the embarrassment that was the Patron's Lunch as a positive.

You do realise that Peter Phillips' tender was uncontested and the lunch raised approximately half the amount for charity that he trousered in fees?

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 15:33

I haven't bothered to explain why I want a Royal Family because there is no point in explaining my views to you because you have already got it in your head what you think I am going to say and I am sure an argument against it.

Therefore I agree to disagree with you rather than waste my time.

I do think its rather unpleasant though to come on here slagging them off though.

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 15:33

Laurie Marlow - Eh??

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 19/04/2020 15:36

The title of this post is unecessarily offensive. Whether you are a royalist or not these arejust two young parents who you DONT KNOW

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 15:38

No I do not believe in God, but I do believe in thousands of years of tradition.

No one can do pomp and ceremony like us and I am quite proud of that and I am proud of that being part of our national identity.

Its ok to feel like that, and I don't need anyone's permission.

CathyorClaire · 19/04/2020 15:40

I do believe in thousands of years of tradition

Like the feudal arrangements benefiting the Duchies of Lancaster and Cornwall?

derxa · 19/04/2020 15:46

I don’t see why ordinary people, who are mostly trying to secure their income to feed their families in dire circumstances, should be held to the same standards as the future heads of state, who are given millions in public funds to do that job. Most 'ordinary people' aren't on here posting bile. An activity which is helping no one.

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 15:47

How would you suggest those arrangements are resolved @Cathyorclaire?

It has been owned by the family for centuries.

I must admit I am fascinated by the history of the Royal Family and I have read a lot of books about it, I was really fascinated by the documentary about Henry the 8th and all his wives.

Pelleas · 19/04/2020 15:49

these arejust two young parents who you DONT KNOW

They're aged 37 (William) and 38 (Kate) - I wouldn't call them 'young parents'.

MarshaBradyo · 19/04/2020 15:49

As for not helping anyone - It does shed light on how people think now. It’s becoming clearer that HM has good will and that will pass. More and more people will question the institution and inequality it represents.

It does interest me actually that others would prefer a more egalitarian society.

twirlycat77 · 19/04/2020 15:50

I think if more people read this, those “thousands of years of traditions” would take on a different meaning. I can’t see how anyone would think they are a good thing for our country after reading this. It’s a revelation.

So what the fuck are Kate and Willy doing?
OhMargo · 19/04/2020 15:50

Apart from this thread, it is amazing how they have been largely forgotten about now that they have hunkered down in their glorious pads.

That says it all for me. They do little of note, are just nodding figureheads, and with this Corona Virus, they will be less and less important as time goes on. Well they can't shake hands, go to balls and big State dinners, appear in public at a photo op and so on.

They have outlived their perceived usefulness now.

Tally ho.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 19/04/2020 15:53

I do think its rather unpleasant though to come on here slagging them off though

They take, take, take from this country and give nothing of any meaning back. People aren't slagging them off, we are, quite rightly, asking for royalists to give just one teeny, tiny benefit to us paying so much money to one family.

People don't contribute to that charity I mentioned because the Queen is their invisible and rather pointless patron. If you don't believe me ask people who donate to cancer charities, or any other charities, and you will find millions of reasons around believing in the cause, having lost people to cancer, having had cancer themselves......I can guarantee no one will say it's because of the patron.

We should be allowed to hold them to account as we do our elected representatives. That's not slagging people off or, god forbid, nit being nice. It is wanting to get answers to perfectly reasonable questions regarding where our money is going, to whom is it going and what are they spending it on.

Telling people - women - to be nice, not question, be thankful just gives these people a green light to continue ripping off this country.

CathyorClaire · 19/04/2020 15:58

How would you suggest those arrangements are resolved Cathyorclaire?

I would have both Duchies absorbed into the Crown Estate where they rightfully belong and end her maj and Charles' right to veto any proposed law that affects their own interests.

twirlycat77 · 19/04/2020 15:59

It’s laughable telling people to be “nice” because they’re putting up arguments against a monarchy.Confused

CathyorClaire · 19/04/2020 16:04

It has been owned by the family for centuries

How then have the duchies been successfully served with legal notices that only apply to public bodies?

The status is murky but the royals can successfully switch between public and private at will and as usual to whatever end serves their own purposes.

CathyorClaire · 19/04/2020 16:06

are just nodding figureheads

Problem is they're not. HMQ and Charles both have powers to veto laws that don't suit their interests and have used them.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 16:19

Most 'ordinary people' aren't on here posting bile. An activity which is helping no one.

Asking for accountability and wondering what public figures are doing to warrant the vast sums of money they’re given isn’t ‘posting bile’.

OhMargo · 19/04/2020 16:25

CathyorClaire

Do tell what laws they invoked to protect their interests.

Ha ha, protect their interests indeed! Anything about the rest of us?

They are nodding figureheads, and are becoming less and less important by the day. They will not be able to do anything of note for ages with the social distancing. But hey ho, they won't want for anything, and they are mightily fortunate in that regard. Or maybe they look at it as their right!

I really don't give a hoot, but it's hilarious to see them become non entities, with their fortunes secured for sure of course!

I am not jealous, I wouldn't swop with any of them for a million pounds. Ever.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 16:32

@MadameBee

I haven't bothered to explain why I want a Royal Family because there is no point in explaining my views to you because you have already got it in your head what you think I am going to say and I am sure an argument against it.

You havent bothered to explain because you have zero arguments. You havent put forward one. You know you dont have a leg to stand on so it is easier for you to quit.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 16:34

@derxa is all criticism 'bile' in your view?

If I really wanted to post bile I could get started on the recent scandals, but I wont because I prefer a proper factual and reasoned argument.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 16:36

You’d be forgiven for being envious of their lock down experience tbf.

Able to head off to their second home, when everyone else was expressly told not to.

Staff to look after their every need, when anyone I know who had a cleaner is paying them to stay away.

A massive country pile to enjoy. Land, dogs, tennis courts, swimming pools, lovely Enid Blyton lifestyle for the kiddies.

Wanting for nothing. I bet they can get hold of flour and so on.

No money worries ahead or struggling to wfh under bad conditions like everyone else.

You might wonder why they’re handed all this when others have so little?

LaMarschallin · 19/04/2020 16:40

I am not jealous, I wouldn't swop with any of them for a million pounds. Ever

I'd swap. Wouldn't even ask for the £1million; I'd get much more than that just by swapping.
