Isn’t there a princess in Europe that’s now working as a HCA?

A queen somewhere in Asia cooking for the poor?

Harry and Meghan delivering meals?

Bet if Diana was here she’d be out doing everything in her power to help the ordinary folk 💪

Anyone literate can write letters - as for cooking and sewing, I'm sure they can - I seem to remember some publicity shots of William learning cookery at Eton, and those things do form part of a standard upper/upper-middle class education.

derxa · 19/04/2020 14:08

Your standards are very very low. I know. I must do better in every way.

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 14:09

Wolfgirrl - I thought we'd already covered that on the other thread, if you want to copy and paste it go ahead.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 14:09

Bloody hell, I didn't realise that being royal meant having to be a jack of all trades

Utilising ONE skill that could help the nation is not ‘being a jack of all trades’. Ffs. She could be writing letters to vulnerable people on their own. It’s not rocket science.

You know when you have to exaggerate the argument that you can’t refute it.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 19/04/2020 14:09

And if not, what’s the conclusion? She has no skills that are of any use to anyone?

Yep, this

Coming back to ‘what’s the goddamn point of the monarchy’ then

And definitely this

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 14:11

Pelleas - Maybe not enough to give tutorials, which to do that you really have to enjoy what you're teaching to other people.

twirlycat77 · 19/04/2020 14:12

It isn’t about over shadowing other people’s efforts, nobody should care about who gets the glory. It’s about standing up and being counted. 50 nurses have so far died in the U.K. through lack of PPE. That’s disgraceful. If I had millions in the bank like they do, I wouldn’t think twice about donating a large sum. Fuck the worry that it might over shadow other people’s efforts. What a ridiculous excuse. Talk about clutching at straws.

Mummyshark2019 · 19/04/2020 14:13

I didn't watch their whole interview but what I did see, Kate was looking quite smirky which I thought was strange.

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 14:13

How do you know that they haven’t donated “a large sum”?

Pelleas · 19/04/2020 14:13

Maybe not enough to give tutorials, which to do that you really have to enjoy what you're teaching to other people.

I disagree. I have to give tutorials on the most horrendously dull things at work.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 14:16

@MadameBee

How do you know they have?

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 14:17

I am not the one saying they should?

CathyorClaire · 19/04/2020 14:17

Would you be able to do any of those things because I couldn't

Kate designed a garden that was exhibited at the Chelsea Flower Show. A veggie growing tutorial shouldn't be beyond her.

derxa · 19/04/2020 14:19

A veggie growing tutorial shouldn't be beyond her. I'm sure she'd be accused of being Marie Antoinette at that point.

CathyorClaire · 19/04/2020 14:24

I'm sure she'd be accused of being Marie Antoinette at that point.

On current form we're not likely to find out.

T1redmum1 · 19/04/2020 14:28

I’m a fan of the Royals. I appreciate not everyone is, and I also understand their arguments why.

A lot of posters have asked why people are fans. Obviously everyone has different reasons, but for me I became a big fan after my severely disabled DD was born. Princess Anne, Sophie, William and Catherine are all patrons of various charities that have helped support my DD. I’ve seen first hand what it means to my DD, who is largely either ignored or bullied by society, to know that a prince or princess thinks she has value. And I appreciate it doesn’t have to be a Royal to do that, but for her they matter, and the work they do, larger unreported in the press, has a genuinely positive impact on her life.

As per the current criticism of the Royals. I have seen from the charities we donate to, that the Royals are still very much involved in their charities work. But for some reason their PR team are not doing a particularly good job of sharing that.

480Widdio · 19/04/2020 14:33

What a horrible nasty thread, the heading at the start says it all really.

Ipadipod · 19/04/2020 14:34

@Mummyshark2019 I thought she’d been crying!

How do you know that they haven’t donated “a large sum”?

Practically every rich person in the world who has donated let’s it be known. It’s what people want to hear. In the past the royals have let it be known about donations (small) to disasters. William would most certainly let it be known if he did. There’s no reason not to. He hasn’t donated millions that’s for sure.

dairyfairies · 19/04/2020 14:39

I have a severely disable child with a rare chromosome disorder and the royals haven't made an ounce of difference to us. The main charity supporting us may actually go under with Corona.

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 14:40

Twirlycat77 - Well you're wrong there. Plenty of rich people give to charity anonymously.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 14:40

@madamebee so by the same logic we can assume kate is moonlighting in the warehouse at ASDA, because I cant prove that she isnt? Ever heard of the phrase you cant disprove a negative?

So, in summary: the royals, who are paid many millions of pounds a year by the taxpayers, have no specific duties and can essentially do nothing in a crisis because they can always claim 'people will think they're trying to steal the limelight'.

There are people on this thread that are very happy with that, as kate has lovely hair, and occasionally puts out a tweet.

twirlycat77 · 19/04/2020 14:41

What a horrible nasty thread, the heading at the start says it all really.

Yeah we’re all so nasty because we’re disgusted by the lack of involvement of the royals in a global pandemic. How nasty of us. Do you view the royals as “nasty” too, for their lack of any constructive support to the country that supports them?

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 14:41

@480Widdio

Why? Maybe you would like to argue their case, as every other royalist here is failing.

The best they can come up with is we should assume theyve done something because there is no evidence of them doing it Hmm

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 14:42

As for 'only the royals can raise money for charity like they do'; can you explain why an elderly man has raised more in one go than they have ever done, by walking up and down his garden..?
