Isn’t there a princess in Europe that’s now working as a HCA?

A queen somewhere in Asia cooking for the poor?

Harry and Meghan delivering meals?

Bet if Diana was here she’d be out doing everything in her power to help the ordinary folk 💪

Ahh, so you admire a woman who wears clothes well, smiles. Waves and has popped out the requisite heir and couple of spares

That’s your interpretation of my answer.

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 13:37

I also like the spotlight she has helped to shine on children’s mental health. It’s very important and underfunded.

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 13:40

Is it really feminist to slag another women off for choosing a “traditional” role?

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 13:42

@MadameBee

I'm sorry you didnt answer my question. What is her role exactly?

Would the 85 million we give to the royals be better spent going to the charities that you say are underfunded? Why do we need the middleman?

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 13:45

I also like the spotlight she has helped to shine on children’s mental health. It’s very important and underfunded.

Shame she’s not doing anything practical right now to help kids mental health, when it’s under the worst strain it’s ever been.

Joe Wicks doing his PE classes will be helping kids mental health.

Kate, hanging by the pool, not so much.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 19/04/2020 13:45

I'm not slagging off women for choosing a traditional role. I'm wondering why a publically funded person is not accountable for doing fuck all of any use to that public.

Royalists are really very dense and show no understanding of the simple fact that if we didn't have to pay for these parasites then there would be money available to properly fund services like CAMHS.

Pelleas · 19/04/2020 13:46

I admire Kate because she has carried out the role she has taken in the exact way that the role is supposed to be carried out

But do you not think she is vastly over-rewarded compared to, say, a nurse who carries out the role she is taken in the exact way it's supposed to be carried out - or a teacher, or a shop worker, or anyone else who has a job?

I also like the spotlight she has helped to shine on children’s mental health. It’s very important and underfunded.

That really says more about the government than Kate. Areas shouldn't need Royal patronage to receive funding in this day and age. I agree with you to the extent that this is a worthy cause to promote; but by promoting any charities, the Royals are perpetuating an anachronistic way of doing things.

Also, you cannot get away from the fact these Royals are sitting on wealth and possessions that, liquidated, would be transformative to any of the charities they supposedly care about. Mental health problems and homelessness go hand in hand, yet the Royals have hundreds of properties sitting empty - how can they really claim to care when they can sleep at night knowing this? If Kate really cares about children's mental health why doesn't she liquidate some of her vast fortune and donate it to a relevant charity?

CathyorClaire · 19/04/2020 13:47

I think this has been asked before on other threads but it's worth asking again.

Can anyone provide a link to hard stats on how much cash value a royal mention or even a patronage adds to any charity?

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 13:48

Laurie Marlow - Oh so what you'd really like to see is Kate donning a leotard and showing us how to keep fit is it?

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 13:51

Can anyone provide a link to hard stats on how much cash value a royal mention or even a patronage adds to any charity

Pretty sure it was on Sussex Royal Grin

So far I have low self esteem and I am dense Hmm not sure the best way to win a “debate” is continue to personally insult so one who just happens to have a different opinion to your own.

MsTSwift · 19/04/2020 13:52

Aren’t we short of fruit pickets? If they as a family rolled their sleeves up and got picking that I might respect though imagine hell would freeze over first!

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 19/04/2020 13:53

I didn't say you were dense. I said royalists are dense. If you took that insult to mean you then it's not my fault. I stand by my statements.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 13:54

Oh so what you'd really like to see is Kate donning a leotard and showing us how to keep fit is it?

SOMETHING

I don’t know, gardening tutorials, mindfulness stuff, writing letters to people, making food for front line workers, sewing scrubs.

If the very ordinary people on my street can use whatever talents and resources they have to help, I have no fucking idea why they can’t.

Milky77 · 19/04/2020 13:54

Sure. Harry and Meghan 'secretly' delivering food yet photos have been released all over social media. They are the experts at virtue signalling.

Don't blame W&K for only doing calls etc on camera at the moment. It's right to not be going out in public.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 13:58

@MsTSwift we are in agreement this time! (Maybe hell can freeze over?! Lol)

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 13:59

I have a feeling @MadameBee will not answer any of my questions and will continue to deflect..

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 14:01

Laurie Marlow - Would you be able to do any of those things because I couldn't, well apart from letter writing.

derxa · 19/04/2020 14:02

I think Kate is great, I love her. I do too and William. They cheer me up at the moment. They show calm dignity.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 14:03

Laurie Marlow - Would you be able to do any of those things because I couldn't, well apart from letter writing.

I thought Kate was really into gardening, mental health and cooking. At least some of those should be within her capabilities.

And if not, what’s the conclusion? She has no skills that are of any use to anyone?

Coming back to ‘what’s the goddamn point of the monarchy’ then.

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 14:04

Milky77 - I agree, whatever they do will get so much publicity it will just overshadow other people's efforts. Best for them to keep low key.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 14:04

@derxa

They show calm and dignity... by shirking duties and hiding in a mansion. Your standards are very very low.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 14:06

@Mamamia456

I don't know if you noticed but this thread isnt about you, it's about kate and william and what they could do. Or arent doing rather.

Still havent answered about the sovereign grant or the Duchy btw.

Mamamia456 · 19/04/2020 14:06

Laurie Marlow - Bloody hell, I didn't realise that being royal meant having to be a jack of all trades.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 14:07

@Mamamia456

That could be used as an excuse for them to do no work again, ever.

They seem to be fine visiting charities and 'overshadowing their efforts' the rest of the time.

CathyorClaire · 19/04/2020 14:07

Pretty sure it was on Sussex Royal

Well a bit of trumpet blowing from the prodigal son wasn't quite what I had in mind. Is there anything a bit more neutral?
