Isn’t there a princess in Europe that’s now working as a HCA?

A queen somewhere in Asia cooking for the poor?

Harry and Meghan delivering meals?

Bet if Diana was here she’d be out doing everything in her power to help the ordinary folk 💪

The royals do a lot for charity

The Queen is patron of the very large charity that a friend of mine works for. It's a good charity that does a lot of excellent work and funds vital, research. It has actually loaned its staff to the NHS and it's labs to help analyse Coronavirus testing and supporting the search for a vaccine.

It is estimated to loose a massive chunk of funding this year because of Coronavirus and it's staff are having to either take a reduction in pay and hours or be furloughed.

The Queen, it's patron, could bail out this charity and thus support all the (fairly, poorly paid) staff and support the ongoing work of this charity.

She would barely even notice the money gone. But she hasn't.

Like others I'd suggest that some of you apologists for this appalling family reads Norman bakers book.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 12:24

It's always 'being the face' of the charity, never giving money themselves or doing the hard work.

twirlycat77 · 19/04/2020 12:36

Being the “face” of a charity means little more than putting their names to it. Hardly taxing, in fact there’s more to gain. Makes them sound good value for money, that we need them. Not forgetting they get a lovely day out with free lunch when they turn up at these charity fund raisers.

queenofarles · 19/04/2020 12:39

Ok maybe giving Money is not very "Royal". But what about sending out supplies?

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 12:39

Leave them alone.

William was born into it he didn’t choose it and look what happens when you try to leave!!

I think Kate is great, I love her.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 12:41

Leave them alone

Very happy to if that also includes not bothering them with public money. Wink

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 12:45

When he did earn a wage he gave it to charity.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 12:49

When he did earn a wage he gave it to charity.

Grin

Yeah, he gave the absolute buttons (by his standards) to charity while keeping his hands out for the multiple millions.

The PR teams must love you btw. You’re an absolute gift.

Pelleas · 19/04/2020 12:49

look what happens when you try to leave!!

There's inevitable publicity at first but it soon dies down if the individual genuinely wants to live in seclusion (look at the late Duke of Windsor, for example).

Harry and Meghan seem to want to maintain a high profile - they've just launched their new Archewell brand - so they will continue to receive media attention.

I should add that I think the racism-driven media attacks on H&M have been appalling and I don't condone them in any way.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 12:52

@MadameBee why do you love kate? She lives off your money and doesnt even know you exist.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 12:53

She does have nice hair Grin

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 12:54

I don’t understand what people genuinely expect William to do.

He has been brought up to accept that being King is his destiny, people just expect him to say “fuck this I’m off” And leave his family the D&D of Windsor were reviled by the British Public for the rest of their lives!

It will remain to be seen how this affects Harry in the future.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 12:57

Hmm we didnt say anything about him leaving @madamebee . We are discussing why, rather than do anything useful, our young and healthy future Head of State is hiding away in a mansion, doing 5 minutes of PR a week. There is plenty he can do.

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 12:58

You do realise that it’s much much cheaper that he stays at home? Hmm

The security involved in him doing anything would be massive.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 12:58

I don’t understand what people genuinely expect William to do.

There are many, many things he could be doing right now, from the safety of his own home, to cheer, lead and support the nation.

But instead he’s sitting on his arse, presumably enjoying the pool and the tennis courts, making a very occasional phone call.

What a poor show from the future heir when his grandmother is very old and his father sick.

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 12:59

And he isn’t the Head of State, the Queen is.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 12:59

Loads of suggestions on this thread of what he could be doing from the safety of his own home.

The residents of my street are doing far more. It’s actually embarrassing.

LaurieMarlow · 19/04/2020 13:00

Oh we’re back to the pedantic point scoring rather than addressing the argument.

I missed that tactic. Oh wait.

TheClootieDumplin · 19/04/2020 13:06

So you think they’ve donated millions without telling us. Why wouldn’t they tell us, it would make people happy to hear that surely?

That's the thing about charity. Anything you do or give really is best kept to yourself.

Would it make me happy to hear what they contribute? No. Absolutely not. Im trying to remember the saying that goes along the lines of 'when it comes to giving a persons left hand shouldn't know what his right hand has spent'.

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 13:07

@MadameBee

I said future head of state.

Ah now the old 'security nightmare' excuse...

What next? The 50p a year argument?

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 13:07

I think people need to get a life rather than attacking people they don’t know, personally.

Unless you have a daily schedule of that they are doing all you are doing is bitching and speculating.

MadameBee · 19/04/2020 13:09

*what

TheClootieDumplin · 19/04/2020 13:09

The PR teams must love you btw. You’re an absolute gift

And you're a gift to the people who'd rather the Royal Family than the alternative.

You catch more flies with honey than vinegar you now.

TheClootieDumplin · 19/04/2020 13:09

eta 'you know' not 'now'

Wolfgirrl · 19/04/2020 13:11

@madamebee

You're the one that 'loves' a person that doesnt know you exist and I'm the one that needs to get a life? Lol

Its not bitching it is critiquing a public figure. If a thread was started on Boris' handling of the epidemic would that be bitching?
