I agree with you, but, I don’t want to gain a republic via the route of William dying in a pandemic and leaving small children behind. He is a human being (no better than any of us, but human) and so are his wife and children
I agree with you too.
I do, however, think, if that might be his attitude, then what is the point in pretending to be "one of us" via Zoom right now. It's patronising and it will never help him or the BRF's image.
Someone said re donations possibly being kept private. That is untrue. William (or his team) has clearly thought they'd capitalise on Captain Tom and made a donation public knowledge. This has backfired to an extent, and rightly so. What should have happened is there should be full transparency regarding donations made at times like these. Honesty would build many bridges right now.
Secondly, their properties. It's naive to think they occupy all of them at once and equally naive to think none of them would be suitable to assist the public services right now. Some posters here imagins they could not be used as hospitals because of the rugs, give me strength. Amongst all of these properties, there would be some that could be made available for other purposes. This could be outdoor as testing facilities, indoor as limited individual rooms for NHS and other public services staff who have to separate from their families. There is a long list of potential options to consider depending on suitability. Has such offer been made? No, not to our knowledge. Again, a total lack of transparency.
The fact is that they, unlike most of us, have more resources and opportunities to coordinate meaningful help even without leaving the house. And as far as we know, they're not doing so, or yet again they've got their PR very, very wrong. Leaving the elderly Queen aside, I genuinely think if two future heads of state cannot communicate appropriately and lead by example in times like these, their entire existence is pointless. Charles could have created a fund for CV victims or their families as a person who has been through it, but oh wait, he must be so busy right now...
