Isn’t there a princess in Europe that’s now working as a HCA?

A queen somewhere in Asia cooking for the poor?

Harry and Meghan delivering meals?

Bet if Diana was here she’d be out doing everything in her power to help the ordinary folk 💪

I thought this thread was about William and his wife.
People just can't seem to get enough of slagging off Meghan.
When is it ever going to stop?

ksf5555xxx · 18/04/2020 05:01

People replying they're homeschooling young kids like the rest of us.....do actually realise they're not.. actually.. doing.. the.. home caring? Confused.

They have an ARMY of nannies and carers for all home schooling, cooking and cleaning now as before Covid19. They also have supplies of masks, gloves, ventilators etc on hand .

Loving the image some are painting of 3 young Cambridge kids screaming around a council house as a sleep deprived Kate and Wills tear their hair out trying to teach 'em A,B,C's with limited resources & YouTube! Priceless!! Grin Wine

derxa · 18/04/2020 05:06

It seems like every second poster on MN is an NHS worker at the moment. Apparently.

ArriettyJones · 18/04/2020 05:11

Thing is, they are irrelevant and unnecessary. This pandemic only highlights this and makes it even more obvious. There is no place for the royals in modern world.

I agree with you, but, I don’t want to gain a republic via the route of William dying in a pandemic and leaving small children behind. He is a human being (no better than any of us, but human) and so are his wife and children.

For all we know, William agrees with us too (he has heavily hinted he would rather not be King), but if he’s minded to abdicate or make big reforms to the monarchy, he won’t do it while the Queen is still with us. Probably not while Charles is with us either.

I think as in real life conversations can wander.

You're being extremely naive if you think any thread will only ever be about what's mentioned in the thread title.

As for Meghan ( and Harry)? I think they need to be allowed to fade away into insignificance and the less they're mentioned the better.

MrsMGE · 18/04/2020 06:15

I agree with you too.

I do, however, think, if that might be his attitude, then what is the point in pretending to be "one of us" via Zoom right now. It's patronising and it will never help him or the BRF's image.

Someone said re donations possibly being kept private. That is untrue. William (or his team) has clearly thought they'd capitalise on Captain Tom and made a donation public knowledge. This has backfired to an extent, and rightly so. What should have happened is there should be full transparency regarding donations made at times like these. Honesty would build many bridges right now.

Secondly, their properties. It's naive to think they occupy all of them at once and equally naive to think none of them would be suitable to assist the public services right now. Some posters here imagins they could not be used as hospitals because of the rugs, give me strength. Amongst all of these properties, there would be some that could be made available for other purposes. This could be outdoor as testing facilities, indoor as limited individual rooms for NHS and other public services staff who have to separate from their families. There is a long list of potential options to consider depending on suitability. Has such offer been made? No, not to our knowledge. Again, a total lack of transparency.

The fact is that they, unlike most of us, have more resources and opportunities to coordinate meaningful help even without leaving the house. And as far as we know, they're not doing so, or yet again they've got their PR very, very wrong. Leaving the elderly Queen aside, I genuinely think if two future heads of state cannot communicate appropriately and lead by example in times like these, their entire existence is pointless. Charles could have created a fund for CV victims or their families as a person who has been through it, but oh wait, he must be so busy right now...

maddiemookins16mum · 18/04/2020 07:17

I didn’t get past your ridiculous title Op, if you can’t use his oroper name then don’t expect the responses you want.

countrygirl99 · 18/04/2020 07:26

Everytime someone bangs on about how the royals bring in the tourists I think "so that's why nobody visits Versaille, Schonbrun, St Petersburg, Loire Valley etc".

lyralalala · 18/04/2020 07:26

Harry and Meghan delivering meals?

Those two things are directly comparable. Sofia of Sweden is married to the younger brother of the Crown Princess.

There's not a chance her sister-in-law would be allowed to risk much either. Victoria is also focussing on video messages and the likes

Who would be the regent? Kate? Harry? Kate & Harry jointly? It would be the most unimaginable mess and a very unstable situation. I’m not a monarchist but we do live in a monarchy and we really don’t want a scenario like that.

It would be Harry, as long as he was still viewed as being domicilled in the UK.

If he wasn't then it would be Andrew....

And that's not even a situation that anyone wants to contemplate

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 18/04/2020 08:04

@GreenTeaMug
I'd quite like to be a princess. That's my contribution to the thread. Banal. But I speak the truth.
Me too to be honest Grin

MangoFeverDream · 18/04/2020 08:24

William wants to go back to air ambulance, a fact you have ignored this entire time

I doubt they want him. He likely never even worked a part-time schedule.

They could be doing all manner of things from their home offices

We’ve seen their home office 😂 nothing is getting done there

tiredanddangerous · 18/04/2020 08:28

You’d be best off turning your attention to what the government are doing. Or not doing. That’s far more worthy of our collective attention.

twirlycat77 · 18/04/2020 08:30

The government should be as forceful and authoritarian with the royals as it is with the rest of us in these times. Don’t allow them to lounge about in those big great palaces (the ones we’re often reminded by the royalists that don’t belong to them) and requisite them immediately for use as hospitals/convalescence homes. Stop treating this family like precious little snowflakes ffs. We all have to suffer in these times, they shouldn’t be any different.

twirlycat77 · 18/04/2020 08:34

William has said he wants to go back to air ambulance.......yeah sure. Empty words knowing full well it wouldn’t be accepted. Why do people believe every word that comes out of their mouths.

MarshaBradyo · 18/04/2020 08:34

They do come across as pampered and a bit pathetic.

HM did a good job but hearing the rest speak is jarring. The privilege against the reality for everyone else.

MarshaBradyo · 18/04/2020 08:35

Of course he can say he wants to when he already knows it’s a no go. Not very compelling as a statement.

Peapod29 · 18/04/2020 08:38

Do you think they have a full staff of servants including a private tutor in isolation with them?

When is it ever going to stop?

As soon as they stop with their cheap publicity stunts I presume.

Amanduh · 18/04/2020 08:43

Do you think they have a full staff of servants in isolation with them?

Well, Harry and Meghan do...

MarshaBradyo · 18/04/2020 08:45

Oh hang on - Member of vaccine task force
At 8.14 this morning if anyone wants to listen back

MarshaBradyo · 18/04/2020 08:45

Wrong thread!

On H&M probably because mentioned in op

Peapod29 · 18/04/2020 08:45

Use some of their influence and get designers (how many designers must Kate know) to rock us some decent PPE/gowns

This in particular is a VERY good point that I hadn’t thought of.

cakeisalwaystheanswer · 18/04/2020 08:49

Minor UK royals like Beatrice, Eugenie, Harry etc are trying to make themselves look busy and relevant by releasing photos of themselves doing "charitable deeds". But they all still have a full working staff turning up for non-essential jobs. H&M couldn't leave the house at the same time if they didn't have a full time Nanny still working, plus cooks, cleaners, gardeners, security staff etc.

You have fallen for some staged photos and yet another publicity stunt OP. And if Princess Diana was alive her hairdresser would still be visiting.

ScarletFever · 18/04/2020 08:49

Maybe look up how much they actually bring to the country in tourism etc before spouting how much they cost the taxpayers

You know people come here for more than the royal family

Ponoka7 · 18/04/2020 08:51

They do have Staff in isolation with them. Live in, of course. As did Charles. His personal butler also got Covid at the same time as him.

They should be doing more, or at least be more visible. However I don't think they give good interviews or make much sense when they try to speak off script.

I can see why they don't want to risk William. It was thought that Harry was too far down the line. Well this could be a leveler. We have fifteen years to wait for George. That's if George decides it's what he wants.

I don't see how we are going to have a royal family when they have to stay shielded until a vaccine is found. William doesn't, like all other people under 70, he should be back to work.

I think it was a disgrace that the Queen didn't speak to Major Tom.
