cultkid · 15/04/2020 10:38

I can hardly open my mouth 😭 my throat hurts SO much and I have a temperature of 39 at least 3/4 of the day never dropping under 38.5

Please someone help me. The nurse is calling me soon. I can hardly talk. I've been taking co codamol 8/500 and ibuprofen
What can I do for the pain
Have you been prescribed something that helped before
I haven't had a sore throat since I was 16

Salt water, rinse your mouth and throat with it. It really does help. Do you have a cough with it?

Nsws2015 · 15/04/2020 10:40

I have suffered with recurrent tonsillitis, at least twice a year generally. Difflam spray and tyrozets with warm drinks were all that helped if I didnt need antibiotics.

cultkid · 15/04/2020 10:41

I have been using salt water
I forgot about tyrozets
Going to go use now

I don't have a cough x

Difflam spray if you can get it
Also and this sounds strange as it's probably the last thing you can face now but Ready Salted crisps or gargle with salt water if you can't face the crisps!
Hope you feel better soon

LIZS · 15/04/2020 11:02

Difflam or corvonia spray, gargle with soluble paracetamol

Sally872 · 15/04/2020 11:03

Dissolving paracetamol and gargle it. Really works.

LemonFun · 15/04/2020 11:06

Just in case it’s coronavirus don’t take ibroprofen

RandomMess · 15/04/2020 11:12

Gargling with soluble aspirin is amazing

powershowerforanhour · 15/04/2020 11:13

If it's tonsillitis, then antibiotics. In the meantime- gargling salt water as hot as I could bear or really hot drinks weirdly seemed to give me temporary relief.

nonevernotever · 15/04/2020 11:13

Difflam throat rinse (to gargle with) or difflam throat spray.

TwerkForTeachers · 15/04/2020 12:25

@LemonFun that is wrong. You Can take ibuprofen with coronavirus

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 15/04/2020 12:36

All of the above and Priessnitz's wrap

cultkid · 16/04/2020 15:14

Hey I've been taking anti biotics now for a full 4 doses with co codamol and ibuprofen and cyclisine
I am still in agony
I'm not being sick and my temperature is a bit more under control more like 38.7 but I can't get over the pain
I can't get my tongue out properly
Any thoughts?

Were you seen by someone before antibiotics prescribed? They can take a few days to start working. Only reason I'm asking if you were seen is that both times I haven't been able to open my mouth it has been quinsy and if it's that you need further treatment

cultkid · 16/04/2020 15:24

I haven't been seen no 😭💔 on the phone

My throat looks dodgy it's got whiteand red patches but I don't have tonsils so I'm not sure if I could get it still?

OP posts:
Waveysnail · 16/04/2020 15:37

Only thing that helps when I have strep is large doses of ibuprofen which isn't ideal with coronvirus floating about

TheRealCaroleBaskin · 16/04/2020 15:37

Could be a quinsey but you will have to be seen for that to be diagnosed.

cultkid · 16/04/2020 15:38

@Waveysnail I've been taking 600 💔 it fucking fucking hurts

OP posts:
cultkid · 16/04/2020 15:38

@TheRealCaroleBaskin even without tonsils

OP posts:
Spam88 · 16/04/2020 15:39

When I had strep throat it took a lot longer to respond to antibiotics than tonsilitis normally does (or maybe it's just because I'm older!).

WouldShouldCould · 16/04/2020 15:41

Whiskey, gargle with it and swallow.

Sugarfreejelly · 16/04/2020 15:45

Definitely soluble paracetamol- gargle with them if you can. I had the same a few weeks ago and it was agony - this was the only thing that helped.

cultkid · 16/04/2020 15:46

How long did it take to feel an improvement I think I will call 111 again because I feel worse

OP posts:
LilacTree1 · 16/04/2020 15:47

If your tongue is swelling please call 111 again

I’m so sorry, wish you better ASAP.

cultkid · 16/04/2020 15:48

@LilacTree1 my tongue isn't swollen I'll call 111 though
I really don't want to go into hospital xx
