To ask if you've treated yourself to something as a pick me up right now, and what it is

So We're all stuck in as we know. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo, and DH wfh so most of my day is chaos with one millisecond of the day to myself. Oh and its my birthday this week (woooo).
I've not spent any money of late as DH does our food shop (I cover all bills and budgeted some spending money for mat leave). I am still in mat clothes thanks to not being able to get new ones I can fit in but I am comfy and reluctant to have to return items. I am generally not someone that spends money on myself, it mostly goes on the kids.

But like most, I am low and anxious, and want to 'treat' myself but no idea where to start in the current climate.

So has anyone treated themselves and if so what, why and did it work??

I blew the best part of £1k on a pair of shoes, a pair of boots and a handbag from Fairfax & Favor. They are GORGEOUS and definitely cheered me up Blush

Oh and gin. Lots and lots of gin.

champagneplanet · 14/04/2020 22:51

Goes to find credit card....Grin

I have treated us to garden table and chairs plus a couple of sun beds ..oh and plants to cheer the garden up . There are 5 of us here during lockdown and a 4 month baby so the garden will be very well used!!!

I had an email about the Bella Freud sample sale on Friday, and snagged a bargain jumper. I suspect it’s not usually online, so am particularly pleased. I also bought a pin from Etsy, and a necklace from Tatty Devine.

My hairdresser has started delivering products - the guys who run it leave them on your doorstep - so I plan to get some shampoo and conditioner when I get paid. I really don’t want them to go under!

LoveBeingAMum555 · 14/04/2020 22:54

Nothing wrong with a treat but I am not really in the mood for buying stuff, not keen on parcel deliveries as shielding DS, and money is a bit uncertain. I have bought a few kindle books but that's all at the moment.

BiscuitBean · 14/04/2020 22:56

A barbecue and a hammock...I’ve always wanted a hammock! It’ll probably rain for the rest of the year now Sad

Oh, and a lawnmower...but I’m not sure that really counts as a treat! 35 years old and never mowed a lawn in my life...the shame!

Durgasarrow · 14/04/2020 22:57

Wool from Deramores.

CustardySergeant · 14/04/2020 23:01

I've ordered some skincare and makeup from Selfridges. I've got a Selfridges + account which means that for only £10 a year I get next day delivery! What a bargain.

Fluffybutter · 14/04/2020 23:02

*on fri !

doodlyfiddly · 14/04/2020 23:03

Mine is a bit weird, but I can't wait until they arrive! I've bought a selection of women's magazines from the 1980s on ebay. I'm suffering with nostalgia lately and I am looking forward to seeing the clothes, make up, adverts and, probably very outdated, articles. They were much cheaper than buying current magazines!

Louloubelle78 · 14/04/2020 23:04

I brought a smart watch and a new phone which was shattered by my son.

I also went on a spree in H&M as all my t shirts are officially horrible.

I have my eye on some new sheets.

BlimeyCalmDown · 14/04/2020 23:04

wine and flowering house plants, trying to resist ordering all sorts of random stuff so I can save for a bloody good holiday after this is all over - Caribbean :)

Inforapenny65 · 14/04/2020 23:05

I treated myself to a new Tablet and some Estée Lauder skin care products...I recently gave up smoking and alcohol and have saved quite a bit of money so thought I deserved a treat or two!😁

rosiethehen · 14/04/2020 23:05

I've ordered some nice tea and a tea cosy for my teapot.

MamaGee09 · 14/04/2020 23:07

Oven bought myself a matching Cath Kidston purse and bag and also a pair of converse. All in the sale and brilliant bargains.

MotherOfDragonite · 14/04/2020 23:07

A pair of sheepskin slippers from Celtic & Co! They are deluxe! I actually bought them in February before everything kicked off, but they were by far my best purchase of the year (new shoes -- yeah, I didn't really need you...)

Loads of Kindle e-book cookbooks for £0.99 on Amazon at the moment, so I've snapped up a few of those.

Also had to buy a new bigger tablet as DD1's e-learning platform wouldn't display properly on the small and ancient Kindle Fire, but I have to admit I'm really enjoying using it to watch TV on at night!

Zelda93 · 14/04/2020 23:08

A mixer and baked everyday also put on 6lb in three weeks !!

Littlepond · 14/04/2020 23:08

I bought myself two pairs of shoes on a day when I was supposed to be away with a friend - I spent what would have been the cost of the air bnb
