To ask if you've treated yourself to something as a pick me up right now, and what it is

So We're all stuck in as we know. I have a newborn and a 2.5yo, and DH wfh so most of my day is chaos with one millisecond of the day to myself. Oh and its my birthday this week (woooo).
I've not spent any money of late as DH does our food shop (I cover all bills and budgeted some spending money for mat leave). I am still in mat clothes thanks to not being able to get new ones I can fit in but I am comfy and reluctant to have to return items. I am generally not someone that spends money on myself, it mostly goes on the kids.

But like most, I am low and anxious, and want to 'treat' myself but no idea where to start in the current climate.

So has anyone treated themselves and if so what, why and did it work??

A second seating are?! Outrageous Grin

tenlittlecygnets · 04/05/2020 12:44

Scented candles! White Company's wild rhubarb one is great.

MagnificentMillie · 04/05/2020 12:51

Another extravaganza was getting the Neom pod with all five oils. I haven’t tried the rhubarb scent from the white company, sounds nice.

I always spend a lot of time in the garden anyway, but have bought a beautiful wooden arbour for down by the willow tree. Can’t wait for it to arrive.

MagnificentMillie · 04/05/2020 12:56

I am trying to persuade Dh to get a little kidney shaped swimming pool squeezed in somewhere but he is not going for it right now 🤣

fussychica · 04/05/2020 13:10

Gin, gin and more gin, oh and wineGrin

ritzbiscuits · 04/05/2020 13:14

@Gawdsake2020 Great choice! We've racked up over 80 hours now in our house!

I'm thinking of treating myself to a ballet barre for the house. I'm now doing two classes per week and there is loads more on You Tube to try.

Sparticle · 04/05/2020 14:49

@GreytExpectations, as the OP said quite a while back up on the thread, she didn't actually say expensive treats and gave examples of a mars bar or a creme egg if that's what someone else considers a treat.

It felt like a real treat for me to find a lovely homemade granola bar in the village shop at the weekend (millionaire's shortbread for DH and the DCs). That gave me such a lift - I love baking but it was lovely to buy something that someone else had baked!

I have a shop being delivered tomorrow and I'm hoping the sushi comes! Mmmmmm

Queenfreak · 04/05/2020 18:00

I've bought a new blackwork pattern, and the fabric I need for it.

chocolatedrem · 04/05/2020 18:05

Shellac and all the equipment. I seem to have a natural talent for nails and I will never pay for them again!

Celledora · 04/05/2020 20:31

Hey @dellacucina I am looking for a printer for the same reason. What did you get and is it any good?!

Celledora · 04/05/2020 21:08

@wildthingsinthenight

‘And as an extra special treat I have thrown away the bathroom scales!’

Love you 😍

tenlittlecygnets · 04/05/2020 22:20

These are lovely! Some great ideas.

Re endangering people in warehouses, buying things now also keeps the economy going...

Louisesp82 · 04/05/2020 22:57

My Lumie lamp stopped working, so ordered the top one in range (although couldn't fully justify the expence, so ordered a reconditioned one!

NowYouListenToMeFella · 05/05/2020 14:21

Ordered a pair of docs last night. Wanted them for a while and spotted them on sale. Coming Thursday. Very excited. Had a pair in secondary school many moons ago.

Destinysdaughter · 05/05/2020 21:57

I bought a fab Bluetooth speaker which arrived 2 days ago. Was looking at Bose but saw one for £30 that had such good reviews I decided to risk it, and it's pretty good!

peachsquish · 05/05/2020 21:59

A niffler soft toy and some chalet school fill in books.

Destinysdaughter · 05/05/2020 22:01

This is the speaker if anyone's interested

I can’t stop spending, I ordered a new TV today and I need to stop.

MintyCedric · 06/05/2020 09:41

@Bridecilla we only buy from Lush a couple of times a year. We got bath bombs this time as we had new bathroom fitted just before lockdown and it was a special indulgence, but normal I try and go for bubble bars which can be broken up and last longer

Back to Radox on offer at Sainsbos now though!

echt · 06/05/2020 09:47

I haven't been to a shopping centre/mall for weeks. Hardly ever do.

Picked up half-price Max Factor mascara I love and find hard to get. I don't want to look shit in the apocalypse.

BirdieFriendReturns · 06/05/2020 09:52

Hotel Chocolat
New John Lewis bedding
Loads of make up / skin care

Sparticle · 06/05/2020 09:59

@MagnificentMillie can you cancel the order if you don't really need it? That sounds like quite a big purchase if you are trying to stop Brew

PrincessHoneysuckle · 06/05/2020 10:05

Armani luminous silk foundation, guerlain perfume and dermalogica multivitamin face mask.
