Low blow from nurse?

There's an article in the paper about a mental health nurse who had a note left on her windscreen from a neighbour calling her selfish for leaving the house everyday. Obviously the neighbour was out of order. But her response has riled me:

"I go to work every day supporting our country and have done for many years, while you are clearly spending your days watching me, probably claiming that your employed as a ‘full time mummy’."

AIBU? I'm a SAHM at the moment who used to work for the NHS. I don't think I was a better person when I was in work 'supporting our country'.

Seriously what?

whiskybysidedoor · 10/04/2020 16:39

I have my doubts that this actually happened to be honest. I've known it to happen before, someone posting something similar which turned out to be untrue and they had actually wrote the note themselves.

However, if on the off chance is was true, the response was as rude as the message. Not all nurses are nice people, trust me. Coming from the NHS I have witnessed too many nurses whose behaviour is truly scary and I will never forget. But it's all for the attention at the moment isn't it.

This with bells on.

Seriously are you equating school with respite care? If my child has a bad day the school calls me to pick him up.

Right, and I've no doubt it's really difficult having a child with ASD. I've not denied that at any point. But saying that you're a teacher, a cook etc etc just isn't true. It makes you a parent. What respite care do parents that work full time get that you don't?

TheEndIsBillNighy · 10/04/2020 16:47

The note writer is a tool for making massive assumptions; sadly, the nurse is also making massive assumptions, whilst being simultaneously derogatory

CSIblonde · 10/04/2020 16:49

She's probably got a very good idea who put the note on her car. It was aimed at them, not all SAHM's. I'm surprised how restrained her reply was tbh.

Justabitworried · 10/04/2020 16:51

At school my child has both a teacher who lesson plans and teaches, and a one to one who helps manage his emotions/ behaviour. And if the one to one is struggling they call me to pick him up.

I haven't said I'm a cook etc, just that I'm trying to fill the role of teacher and one to one as well as all the usual stuff, cooking, cleaning, caring for other kids aka parenting. What I was saying is that I'm trying to care for and educate a special needs child, which is a literal job in itself that his one on one is paid to do, on top of the usual parenting. And therefore don't have time to curtain twitch. And that is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week right now and may well be most of the day 7 days a week for the rest of my life.

Cmon lets do a bit of self care.

Have you got a perfume you keep for Best? Give yourself a blast of it, go on.

Namechange4nowt45 · 10/04/2020 17:29

So let me see a twat leaves an insulting note to a nhs nurse because she has the audacity to drive in her car to work where she saves lives as well as risking herself and the health of her children and is upset because she didn't like the stressed and tired and probably frightened nurses response? I think she was quite restrained, yabu give your head a bloody wobble you idiots .

Namechange4nowt45 · 10/04/2020 17:31

Oh and before people pile on I'm a full time mummy and not a bit offended I'm angry on the nurses account.

Shouldershrugger · 10/04/2020 17:36

It was a horrible effing note. Id have been pissed off too. This is the last thing she needed

Justabitworried · 10/04/2020 18:13

Yes it's called eau de Pinot Grigio I'm gonna give it a go right now Smile

I'm a sahm, the other sahm deserved the retort. Be a dick, be treated like a dick.

TabbyMumz · 10/04/2020 18:40

She is not "supporting the country"...she is a nurse. Bit embarrassing to big it up in my opinion. Nurses do a brilliant job, as do millions of others, but dont say they are "supporting the country".

TSSDNCOP · 10/04/2020 20:00

You are wildly overreacting to this unless you wrote the nasty note.

FlockofGulls · 10/04/2020 20:18

Is this all you have to get bothered about at the moment, OP? Some people obviously have easy lives ...

YABU. I saw a photo in the press of the note left for this nurse. Whoever left it got all they deserved.

FlibbertyGiblets · 10/04/2020 20:35

@FlockofGulls if you were to rtft you would see that your comment is unnecessarily unkind and quite cruel. Have a word with yourself please.
