Would it be unreasonable of me not to 'clap for Boris' tonight?

I've just seen this in my FB page.
A local group has shared it.
'Clap for Boris' (see pic) Tonight 8pm.
Human to human, I wish him well & a full recovery but I won't be clapping... Hmm

Would it be unreasonable of me not to 'clap for Boris' tonight?

Unpopular opinion probably, but I'm getting rather sick of all this
I don't think it is an unpopular opinion at all!
I've heard many say the same at work and in different chat forums.

PhilCornwall1 · 07/04/2020 10:07

Any more of this clap for this, that and the bloody other malarkey and we are all going need some special cream! It seems it's very contagious!

donquixotedelamancha · 07/04/2020 10:07

I think it's very likely Boris has already had the clap. He probably doesn't want it again.

boli · 07/04/2020 10:08

Clap for who or what you like, not sure why you need mumsnet help to decide

Ferfooksek · 07/04/2020 10:08

Up to you. I haven’t clapped once for the NHS

LesLavandes · 07/04/2020 10:09

Blimey. Mumsnet at its most horrible

Neveranynamesleft · 07/04/2020 10:10

Please can we just stop all this clapping clap trap. I really do not care what other people think about it, I do not care if any body wants to clap or not, I do not care if people are bored and want to clap for everyman and his dog. Please can we stop going on about clapping on these threads !!!!!

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 07/04/2020 10:10

Les
Is Boris’s health more important than all the other people in ICU?

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/04/2020 10:11

I've not done any clapping, I live in a flat above a shop and there are only 5 flats (no other neighbours) none of my neighbours have done it so I'm not going to hang out the window clapping on my own.

Thurmanmurman · 07/04/2020 10:12

This clapping is getting ridiculous. Fair enough for keyworkers but now it for kids, Boris Johnson, what next? I’m not a fucking seal.

SoupDragon · 07/04/2020 10:13

I thought Tuesdays was #twerk4teachers

AtLeastThreeDrinks · 07/04/2020 10:13

I can't clap for the NHS and then clap for the head of a party that's consistently underfunded and worked to dismantle it. I wish him better but if people around here start clapping I might start yelling stats out the window.

HappydaysArehere · 07/04/2020 10:14

Ridiculous. Keep the clapping for the NHS or this will lose its impact.

beautifulteeth · 07/04/2020 10:14

Can the heartless nasty political vicious comments just stop

Ffs

Hang your heads in shame all
of you. Let's sincerely hope none of you or your families succumb to this awful virus.

Stop. Please.

EricaNernie · 07/04/2020 10:16

i didnt clap for the children,
i wish Boris well, but i think clapping for him is too far outside my comfort zone

LellyMcKelly · 07/04/2020 10:17

No, of course not. I wish him a speedy recovery, but I have no reason to clap for him.

Otherrooms · 07/04/2020 10:17

He's not a fucking pixie, clapping won't make him better.

You win! 😂

CallMeRachel · 07/04/2020 10:17

Yanbu not to clap for anything

Yabu not to clap just because it's for Boris.

Clapping is getting ridiculous and like someone said upthread seems to be for the virtue signallers and those who want constant validation on social media. These same people are often the ones out flouting they lockdown with their kids.

I haven't clapped for any cause, it doesn't mean I don't support the nhs. It's because I'm not a sheep.

middleager · 07/04/2020 10:17

I wish him well, but no, I'm afraid I can't forget the damage that's gone before.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 07/04/2020 10:18

No, I‘ll be thinking of all who are ill and wishing that they recover, but won’t be clapping and particularly not clapping for Johnson.

VegetableMunge · 07/04/2020 10:19

Telling people not to be political over this is itself a political stance beautifulteeth.

Justaboy · 07/04/2020 10:20

Now here is someone who not only deseves a clap, perhaps a medal or some help even?..

www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-52185828/coronavirus-baby-bank-runs-services-with-one-volunteer

Neveranynamesleft · 07/04/2020 10:21

beautifulteeth......I really am struggling to understand why I have to hang my head in shame ??!! What has my or my family members health got to do with my choosing to clap or not. Nasty political comments or not you cant dictate to people how to make a choice just because it's something you dont agree with. Get a grip.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 07/04/2020 10:22

'Can the heartless nasty political vicious comments just stop'

Probably from the same people parroting #BeKind everywhere a few weeks ago.

I wish him well, the response to this crisis has been impressive yet the main stream media have tried to cause division and panic right from the start which some have lapped up. Now some awful people are thrilled Boris is in ICU.

BiggerBoat1 · 07/04/2020 10:23

Absolutely not

Of course I wish him well. He has a family and they must be terribly worried.

He is a disgrace as a politician though. He has consistently refused to back the NHS, underinvested in our welfare state, cheered when he and his cronies blocked a pay rise for nurses and firefighters. He lied and slimed his way though the whole Brexit fiasco. I hope he gets well and then gets the fuck away from any form of power.
