OP, you are backtracking. Your post did not single any 'jokiness', there was no smile emoji, no lol, nothing to indicate it was a joke. Cop to the responses, don't try to pretend 'hey! I was only joking!!' now. Besides, you asked if it was an 'essential purchase'. Essential purchases or otherwise is never been an issue or regulation. It is essential TRIPS that is the issue. You seem to think that what a person purchases, matters. It doesn't. It never has. It's totally irrelevant what a person actually purchases once they're out.

LittleAndOften · 08/04/2020 10:28

One of the 3 veg my son will eat. So yes, essential, however it's being spun now.

TealWater · 08/04/2020 10:29

Well said nicaisle, some of the comments are absolutely disgraceful and shows they do not actually understand the situation (or any situation). The scary thing is, these people genuinely think they're right. Shock Hmm

TealWater · 08/04/2020 10:30

Ugh, single in my second last post should have been signify.

PanchoBarnes · 08/04/2020 10:42

Definitely essential, as I shall be opening a new (but old) bottle of Pimms, very soon....

And of course, the cucumbers will be bought together with all other items, in a single go.
👍

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude We used to sprout carrot tops when we were little. We didn't have pets, but did like growing stuff. We called them Carrot Islands Grin

We did this activity with DS when he was around 3 and he was just as amazed as me and my sister were when my mum showed us how to do it. Simple pleasures!

KisstheTeapot14 · 08/04/2020 11:34

Don't blame me if people are now off to buy a single carrot.....

SharonasCorona · 08/04/2020 11:35

I'm so constipated as haven't been having fresh veg Sad

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 08/04/2020 14:51

@KisstheTeapot14

We’ve started a wave of non essential carrot buyers

MamaBearOnLockdown but other countries ARE on lockdown and the behaviour described in this thread is NOT allowed.. that's the point! Their results are based on rules and people forced to follow them when we don't have these rules.

I am in another country on lockdown and people here ARE allowed out every day to visit the shops that are open. People buy their freh bread daily, sometimes twice daily.

DonnaDarko · 08/04/2020 15:22

Yes. We went through two in one weekend 😂

PennyMissilesAndWombPies · 08/04/2020 15:23

Algernon. [Picking up empty plate in horror.] Good heavens! Lane! Why are there no cucumber sandwiches? I ordered them specially.

Lane. [Gravely.] There were no cucumbers in the market this morning, sir. I went down twice.

Algernon. No cucumbers!

Lane. No, sir. Not even for ready money.

Algernon. That will do, Lane, thank you.

Aloux · 08/04/2020 17:22

Maybe she couldn't find the right batteries for her sex toys so improvised and got them 🤷‍♀️😂

PavlovaTescobar · 09/04/2020 13:27

Nicaisle: What a brilliant post, sad but true. There's going to be a lot of namechanging on Mumsnet once this is all over. The posts that really upset me (not on this particular thread) were when some posters were heavily criticized for wanting to pick up flowers at a supermarket to leave on family member's graves. Especially when the cemetries were within walking distance or could be part of a daily exercise outing.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 09/04/2020 14:26

It's getting ridiculous this policing of people's behaviour.

On another thread I've just been called selfish for not giving up my supermarket delivery slot tomorrow that I've had booked for 3 weeks, as despite the fact in a single mum of 2 and my DD is asthmatic I should apparently be taking them into the supermarket so a more vulnerable person can have my slot Hmm

I don't get why people still don't get this.

Some people seem to think this whole situation is a big game of trying to make whatever they want to do fit the guidelines, even if it doesn't.
