I obviously don’t know the same people you know MamaBearOnLockdown. Everyone I know is staying home, shopping infrequently, and going for walks while staying away from other people. They are also urging people to stay at home via social media. I can honestly say I don’t know a single person flouting the rules.
The people I know also understand that lockdown won’t show any results yet, so are not ‘wondering why it’s not working’.

@ChazsBrilliantAttitude If you have carrots, you can sprout carrot tops for guinea pigs.

How do you do that please?

Onceateacher · 07/04/2020 11:51

I've found this link for sprouting carrots
...thanks for the pig help!

Cut the tops off where the leaves would be with a thick slice and put them in a shallow tray of water about halfway up the carrot top. Green leaves will sprout after a couple of days.

Stupid thread. I went shopping and bought gin and Easter eggs and chocolate. I had actually gone in to get bread, tinned tomatoes, chicken, beans and salad, and apples and nappies. So anyone could of judged me if they had wanted but I was there and got what I could could.

MerryDeath · 07/04/2020 13:45

eating food = is essential. her preference is none of your business.

CecilyP · 07/04/2020 13:58

Yeah, eating food is essential but I doubt if 2 cucumbers is going to keep her going for very long. She will have to do another shop to get the usual essential items. Thus she is doubling the amount of contact she has with staff and other supermarket users.

Oranges, presumably you were able to get at least some of the items you were actually shopping for! Throwing a few treats into your trolley is fine as you have not increased your contact with others!

MamaBearOnLockdown · 07/04/2020 14:06

HoffiCoffi13

good for you. But if you are staying home as you are told to, how would you possibly know what others are up to?

HoffiCoffi13 · 07/04/2020 14:08

Well I can see out of my window for a start. And unless all my friends/family are bare faced liars (and I don’t believe that to be the case) then they are staying at home. Additionally my mum is an NHS worker so has to leave the house every day, she says it’s like a ghost town.
If you are staying home like you say, how do you know other people are out and about?

bluegrasse · 07/04/2020 14:10

Maybe they aren't eating the cucumbers....

allinit2gether · 07/04/2020 14:15

My local Facebook page is full of shit like this. Someone actually asked if they were allowed to buy their kids Easter eggs this morning. As part of their normal shop not even as a special trip. Be nice. I was much more pissy with the woman that followed me around coop yesterday trying to walk in my shadow I think. I really can't get excited because someone didn't buy enough in the shop.

tulipsrus · 07/04/2020 19:15

Here’s the woman with the cucumbers

to wonder if cucumbers are an essential purchase?
DaintySong · 07/04/2020 19:54

Haven't read all the comments but most posters seem to be completely missing the point! It's not that cucumbers are a bad and not essential choice, the problem is that some people still think only needing a cucumber is a good enough reason to go out to public places! Only the other day I saw a thread where most were judging people driving to go for their daily walk but somehow popping to shops whenever you like is okay..Hmm
There are people who have no choice but to go to work in those shops, they would like not to be in contact with more people than necessary!
Of course it's possible that the woman gets her shopping delivered and the cucumbers were the only thing needed, then that's fine, but people really shouldn't be going to shops more often than once a week.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 07/04/2020 20:04

Most posters have said similar and are getting the point

If the shop ive just been to doesn’t have something that i deem important then i might need to go to another shop

DaintySong · 08/04/2020 00:06

Ok, I only got to second page and it didn't seem so.

Well yes, no one knows. I was only getting annoyed reading first responses to OP, as it seemed that people think it's their right to go to shops whenever they felt like it for any little thing they fancy, as usual.

MadameMeursault · 08/04/2020 00:10

Wow! I can’t believe all these responses! This was supposed to be a jokey thread, as in what did she need those cucumbers for?! 2, in case one of them wore out! I wasn’t being judgy at all, and anyone who says I was is being judgy themselves!

OP posts:
ScienceNut · 08/04/2020 00:24

The fact it was cucumbers makes me laugh!

I’m looking at other areas of Maslow's hierarchy of needs to food!

Oh it definitely isn’t eveyone.

motortroll · 08/04/2020 09:29

I went shopping yesterday and included 2 cucumbers in honour of this thread.

nicaisle · 08/04/2020 09:59

My God, we are really seeing certain members of the human race for the hysterical, controlling snitches that they are. See it as a blessing, at least we are starting to see who can be trusted and who cannot. Some people will retain their sense of proportion, their humanity, their moral compass and their decency during a serious event level crisis. Others will run round pointing fingers, policing other people's behavoir, relishing the chance to get others into trouble and indulge in faux outrage.

People often ask, how could that have happened during the second world war, who would sink low enough to report their neighbours for their ethnicity. Well now we know how and who.

I am so, so disappointed with certain members of the human race right now, clearly we have learned nothing from history!
