Queens speech

Am I the only one who actually couldn’t give a shiny shit what she has to say at this time.

People are dying , everyone is affected so the last thing we need is a rich old woman sitting in her ivory castle asking us to stay calm.

It’s really wound me up, it’s constantly being mentioned on the news!

Love the queen's speech, always has the tone and language set right.
I'm so glad we have the royals.

jadey0891 · 05/04/2020 20:10

Her speech isn't going to do anything. I personally don't care about this speech. Furthermore why isit really taking her basically 3 weeks to say something. And why at 8pm.

I couldn't care less about this speech.

reginafalange2020 · 05/04/2020 20:11

Exoffice "give her a break" from twats like you slagging her off on the internet YAWN!
Go read a book if you don't like her

PicsInRed · 05/04/2020 20:11

What did she say? I missed it.

Thanks NHS, thanks all, we're all in it together, spirit of the bulldog, we will meet again, best, Queen.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 05/04/2020 20:11

Complete load of nothing on the whole, but can't believe she emphasised the "self discipline" folk will be remembered for

An unfortunate thing for a member of that family to focus on perhaps ...

helgahelga · 05/04/2020 20:11

That speech was perfect.

LONG LIVE OUR QUEEN! Smile

Jellykat · 05/04/2020 20:12

I thought it was very moving and heartfelt.

Boogiewoogietoo · 05/04/2020 20:12

@ Imfinallyhappy1
You are exceptionally ignorant if you seriously believe that people do not love and respect the Queen. Not just in this country, but across the Commonwealth too.

MrsKingfisher · 05/04/2020 20:13

I love her mage, she has fabulous skin.

Confuzzled123 · 05/04/2020 20:13

@SoleBizzz because as well as being a monarchy we also live in a democratic society where we have freedom of speech, expression and opinion?

I personally am a huge fan of HM the Queen. I think she is a huge force for good in this country. But I also feel strongly that everyone else is entitled to their own opinion. Just because you disagree with a minor aspect of life in the U.K. doesn’t mean you must move out.

helgahelga · 05/04/2020 20:13

@Boogiewoogietoo

Well said.

Gingerwhale · 05/04/2020 20:13

On balance I think that was a good measured response and a worthwhile statement to make. I'm not a huge supporter of the monarchy but she is very impressive for ninety-three.

Confuzzled123 · 05/04/2020 20:14

I thought the speech was just what we needed.

derxa · 05/04/2020 20:14

Well done to the Queen

Scarletoharaseyebrows · 05/04/2020 20:14

Damned if she does, damned if she doesn't

Cremebrule · 05/04/2020 20:15

I thought it was very good actually and they did well showing the rainbow pictures, key workers etc and footage from her 1940 address.

slipperywhensparticus · 05/04/2020 20:15

She is dammed if she does dammed if she doesnt

daisypond · 05/04/2020 20:15

Bland. I expected much more. Sadly disappointing.

Chickydoo · 05/04/2020 20:16

I love HM, but did she do her own hair?? Impressive if she did!

TheGirlFromStoryville · 05/04/2020 20:16

I missed it. Did she say she was making a large cash donation to help her people?

Defenbaker · 05/04/2020 20:17

@twinkle2306 Agreed. Not bad for an elderly lady of 94 who's determined to do her duty until she is no longer able to. I liked the comparison to people being evacuated from their loved ones during the war, and the photo of her doing her first speech to the nation. She is amazing really.

I would like to see the royal family modernised, but not until the Queen is gone.

Flavabobble · 05/04/2020 20:18

I'm a bit of a cynic, but I like the Queen. She's had to spend her whole life being nice to people and pretending to be interested. When she'd probably just prefer to be sat at home with her corgis, with her feet up. Being nice to people is a tough gig.
And I found that last line quite moving.

Paintforkitchen · 05/04/2020 20:18

I really love her. I think she’s amazing. And no I’m not old, I’m 40. It’s not just the preserve of older people to support her.
Thank you HMQ for your words.

Jellykat · 05/04/2020 20:18

I was wondering that too Chickydoo, she must've, unless her hairdresser has been isolating within her household!

Silentplikebath · 05/04/2020 20:19

I found her words comforting. Whatever people think of her, she is amazing for someone who turns 94 this month!
