Am I the only one who actually couldn’t give a shiny shit what she has to say at this time.

People are dying , everyone is affected so the last thing we need is a rich old woman sitting in her ivory castle asking us to stay calm.

It’s really wound me up, it’s constantly being mentioned on the news!

OP posts:

Lyinwitch So not only is it rude to moan about the royals, it’s hypocritical too....,Grin and you ARE policing people....and btw it’s only you pulling me up, not “people”

Whatsername177 · 05/04/2020 19:00

The queen is doing the same thing footballers, actors and celebs have done on social media. If it doesnt help you, don't watch. I've completely ignored what any celeb has posted to SM, coz I'm just not that interested. There are a lot of older people who will find comfort in it, though. My nana has been on about it all day. Its giving her a bit of hope because she believes 'when the queen speaks, people listen'. Not true, I know, but who am I to burst that bubble?

pigsDOfly · 05/04/2020 19:01

Yes, I was a bit puzzled by the hypocrisy thing as well, audrey.

Is there something some of us don't know about you, are you living in a large castle in the home counties or something similar?

Wolfgirrl · 05/04/2020 19:03

Why is it people assume the royals give money privately? All their other charity endeavours are made (very) public.

Isnt the more logical conclusion that they dont give any?

audreysview · 05/04/2020 19:08

Haha PigsDofly I wish. Grin

LuluJakey1 · 05/04/2020 19:12

Wolfgirl There are examples of The Queen making substantial private donations- which were only in the public domain when the charity leaked it.

One was after a terrorist bombing in Britain and one was to an Australian charity fund when there were awful droughts there.

MarshaBradyo · 05/04/2020 19:15

LuluJakey which funds were they from? There’s taxpayer funds, other I assume from Crown Estates. How does it all work?

Wolfgirrl · 05/04/2020 19:15

@lulujakey

Interesting can you reference please?

Hannah021 · 05/04/2020 19:15

waw OP sounds horribly bitter lol
its fun to watch bitter ppl kill themselves in envy...
i'd feel sorry for myself if i were you lol

Noodlenosefraggle · 05/04/2020 19:19

I follow lots of British actors on Instagram and most of them have been donating time and money and doing various activities to raise funds for food banks in London or the charity providing food to nhs workers. Many of them have done things to keep people entertained during the lockdown. Yes they may benefit in the longer-term like but they have actual jobs that they need to get paid for to panther bills, unlike the Royals. Admittedly footballers haven't covered themselves in glory by griping about pay cuts while clubs take government money to furlough ground staff but lots of them have donated to the nhs, clubs have given their grounds and medical staff over to the nhs and some players have let nhs staff stay in their hotels for free. The Royals have done a few staged photo opportunities.

Wolfgirrl · 05/04/2020 19:22

@Hannah021

Oh Hannah 😂 this all goes way over your head doesnt it!

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 05/04/2020 19:23

I think its later this evening - couldn't give a fig.
Actually I quite fancy a fig - couldn't give a coffee cream, I hate those.

Regardless of whether the video had been played or not, I think the whole thing has been read verbatim on the news, so why bother?

reginafalange2020 · 05/04/2020 19:36

I love the queen. She has given her life for this country and although she has a great deal of privilege In her life she has also sacrificed a lot too.

She's 94 years old, give her a break, her sons got Covid 19 and her husband is on his last legs so I expect she's probably had to take her own health into consideration too which may explain the delay in her speech.

Exoffice · 05/04/2020 19:40

She's 94 years old, give her a break

a break from what? doing fuck all? And if she is too all and frail to lift a finger or do anything remotely decent and useful, she isn't really fit to be a head of state, is she?

PicsInRed · 05/04/2020 19:51

Too little too late from the Queen of the corona holiday home set.

Blah blah blah whatever.

Let's have look at the French system. They still have tourism and a working govt. Seems to work fine.

MrFaceyRomford · 05/04/2020 19:54

So don't watch it. She is, after all, head of state and it seems only reasonable that she should say something.

PicsInRed · 05/04/2020 19:58

I love the queen

Why do you love someone who does zero for you, actively soaks the entire country of money French tourism is fine without Marie Antoinette's descendants holding court, perpetuates the system that sees ordinary people fined for sitting by themselves in a park but allows jolly japes to the countryside for wealthy and connected with nary but a "stern word", shelters her at minimum paedo-associate son from justice and couldn't give a shit if you and millions of other peasants died of this? She'll be really, really upset if her corgis get it, though. Isn't that nice. National Treasure.

She doesn't love you or people like you.

Wehttam · 05/04/2020 20:06

Loved that, thank you ma’am

CendrillonSings · 05/04/2020 20:06

Because one thing the Queen is not is a whiner?

twinkle2306 · 05/04/2020 20:07

I think that was a very measured and good response to the crisis

boli · 05/04/2020 20:08

🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

RonnieBarkingMad · 05/04/2020 20:08

What did she say? I missed it.

Alicatz66 · 05/04/2020 20:08

Well I'm in the kitchen listening to Stevie Nicks.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 05/04/2020 20:08

Well I for one was moved by that. Lots of people watching here in Canada.

SoleBizzz · 05/04/2020 20:09

The UK is a monarchy. Why live here if you hate this fact? Mumsnutters
