Am I the only one who actually couldn’t give a shiny shit what she has to say at this time.

People are dying , everyone is affected so the last thing we need is a rich old woman sitting in her ivory castle asking us to stay calm.

It’s really wound me up, it’s constantly being mentioned on the news!

I think royalty should be abolished all around the world. There is no point in keeping them and the tourism might well increase if state actually own all the building that the royal family has full control of right now.

TheWordmeister · 05/04/2020 17:48

I am another that doesn't give a shiny shit.

I can't fathom those that are happy to be patronised by her.

Yorkshirebloke What was it about that thread title that made you think we wouldn’t be talking about the queen?

SerendipityJane · 05/04/2020 17:52

I think royalty should be abolished all around the world.

Other countries are more than welcome to decide if they like the idea of an unelected hereditary supposed head of state cementing the lack of equality in their society. It would speak volumes about their attitudes to fairness and justice.

Worth noting that very few countries have ever restored a deposed monarchy. Certainly not ones the UK should aspire to.

The preamble to the US constitution is pretty scabrous to the British Monarchy - quite plain speaking.

Wehttam · 05/04/2020 17:53

LOL @ at all the Anti Royals on here 🤣😂🤣 the level of immaturity is mind blowing.

Some people have no respect. Dragged up comes to mind.

(💦🛡🚒 ready for all the inbound flames.)

TheWordmeister · 05/04/2020 18:03

I have no more respect for the queen than I do any other old woman. Why should she and her extended family have wealth and privilege based not on merit but birth? It's ludicrous.

The rf is a bigoted anachronism I'd be delighted to see abolished or at least drastically pared down.

NotACleverName · 05/04/2020 18:09

So, how does that boot taste?

LaurieMarlow · 05/04/2020 18:12

Some people have no respect.

Why would you have respect for an archaic and unmeritocratic institution? Or a morally bankrupt family?

I think some people are lacking the brain cells they were born with.

Experimenopause · 05/04/2020 18:14

Wehttam
Respect for what? For you being taken for a fool and you being happy with it?

TheWordmeister · 05/04/2020 18:20

Wehttam are you one of those obsequious, flag-waving types?

Wehttam · 05/04/2020 18:25

For the flames ✌🏼

audreysview. No. No you don't. Not unless you get your own chatboard. Post what you like within guidelines and others will do the same.

For all the posters who are wanging on endlessly about how other people are 'doing it WRONG'... those people doing it wrong are either a) checking with mumsnet on a point, would change tack if persuaded or b) people who post just to wind up the harridans.

Either way, screaming at people with 'I despair!' is achieving absolutely nothing - except for b) those posters must be laughing their heads off at the rabid ranting.

So, whatever else the Queen isn't doing to 'our satisfaction', she's achieving more sitting on her throne watching Netflix (other channels are available) than most who are posting here.

I'm laughing myself now because this site has lost the plot, exceeding even the Brexit-years... what a waste of time and fingernails.

pigsDOfly · 05/04/2020 18:29

I think the time when the nation would sit beside their wirelesses being cheered and comforted by an uplifting speech from our head of state are long gone.

She's got nothing to say that can bring anyone any comfort or bring the nation together.

Unless she's going to give a bloody great chunk of her massive wealth to pay for vital PPE for front line staff or help towards financing food banks for people who can't afford to feed their families she can keep her words of 'comfort' as far as I'm concerned.

Load of patronising claptrap.

audreysview · 05/04/2020 18:30

lyinwitch Sorry I’m not sure what you mean by “no I don’t unless I get my own chat box”?

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 05/04/2020 18:30

Seems the plan was for Queenie to speak next weekend for Easter but she's been brought forward while stocks last.

audreysview · 05/04/2020 18:33

*chat board

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 05/04/2020 18:34

Here you go, audreysview
We have a bloody right to have a moan about the ineptitude and lack of action by the royals.....without being called rude to do so.

When you get your own chatboard, you can police what people say on it.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 05/04/2020 18:35

without being called rude to do so.

audreysview · 05/04/2020 18:36

lyingwitch What do you suggest we should all be doing?

audreysview · 05/04/2020 18:39

Looks like you’re doing a bit of policing lyingwitch, telling us all off for having a moan. We really don’t need your permission.

LuluJakey1 · 05/04/2020 18:39

We have no idea what The Queen donates her money to privately. She certainly would not want publicity for it. As for public money she receives, it is not within her remit to decide how it is spent. It all goes through a committee.

pigsDOfly · 05/04/2020 18:44

We have no idea what The Queen donates her money to privately

Well given that food banks are struggling to find the food they need to help all the people they need to help, it would seem it definitely isn't food banks.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 05/04/2020 18:46

Don't be ridiculous, moan all you like - if people pull you up on your hypocrisy then, tough.

I don't police anybody, I don't care enough but I'm as free as you are to have a view.

audreysview · 05/04/2020 18:50

lulu If the queen gave huge amounts to charity we’d know about it. They’d never miss that kind of PR opportunity. When she’s there with begging bowl for that Windsor fire, and the old people’s cold weather payment etc ......they aren’t the actions of a charitable woman. It’s evident that she tries to rake in as much money as she possibly can off the taxpayer. If she was generous she’d be making a huge show of donating towards this virus. Perhaps she’ll tell us how much in her speech tonight. Hmm

Alsohuman · 05/04/2020 18:51

Well given that food banks are struggling to find the food they need to help all the people they need to help

This could actually be quite positive, the benefit system should provide for people in need properly, not leave them to depend on charity. If there’s anything that’s anachronistic it’s that. Perhaps we’ll end up with benefits that are enough to live on at the end of this.
