Boris MIA again?

Anyone think it's rather strange that Boris is still out of action and that, yet again, he's nowhere to be seen - a repeat of the election and the floods....

Actually a pained expression is pretty much what my kids do when they are lying about being ill because they want a day off school.

He is also a lot thinner. (Charles looks like absolute shit too. That virus is no joke).

I am not sure why you think he is pretending when

  1. It makes him look stupid to have caught the virus when he was shaking hands left and right
  2. he could just say that he is showing example and avoiding getting out
  3. He could pretend he has been in contact with someone having the virus and stay home for 14 days.

He looks like shit, I believe he is sick..

He may be sick.
Its just if you have a long history of lying then of course what you say is not going to be taken as necessarily true. If this had been John Major it would not have even crossed my mind that he could be lying however well he looked.

Given he's a proven and repeated liar, he shouldn't be surprised if his public pronouncements are treated with a degree of scepticism.

It was never Tony, Gordon or Theresa, he isn't harmless media figure doing his comedy buffoonish toff on a panel show.

I'm no fan of Boris. He failed to proactively deal with Covid-19, downplayed the situation to a dangerous level, including the ridiculous shaking hands thing, but I don't think he's lying about being ill. Whether he's been treated with drugs most of of us won't get because of limited stock is another issue. Nevertheless, I hope he recovers.

John Major would not have pretended to have corona. Perhaps Boris isn't either, but I wouldn't put it past him.
And that pained expression is the one my kids would use if they were will but trying to persuade me otherwise.

I believe he’s ill, given he was practically begging to get it by taking zero precautions, but surely in a crisis like this if the PM can’t do their job to its full extent for days/weeks then the deputy should be taking over fully and immediately for that period. It’s really not acceptable for him to be in his sick bed during one of the worst health and economic crises the nation has faced without first handing over all his responsibilities.

How do you explain those of us who vote Labour, don't like Boris's politics, but have still been defending him as a person and ill human being on this thread?

Also, the election was ages ago, hasn't everyone moved on now? It's a bit weird to bring it up at all really.

@CendrillonSings God knows who the Labour voters are that you know but they sound like loons! I vote Labour but detest Corbyn. Think Boris is a self serving shit, but actually quite like some of the stuff he has done and really like the Chancellor. .

@CendrillonSings Ah right. Well I don't agree with Boris's politics most of the time, and yes I would have liked Labour (minus Magic Grandpa) to win. But I still hate the callous way that people are dismissing the PM suffering from a potentially life threatening illness. He is a person who has people who love him. That I think he is a plonker is irrelevant. I don't wish him harm.

So we aren't all the same. Your post made it sound as if you thought all Labour voters share some weird hive mind. They don't brainwash us if we join the party you know Grin
