Boris MIA again?

Anyone think it's rather strange that Boris is still out of action and that, yet again, he's nowhere to be seen - a repeat of the election and the floods....

He’s in hospital. Can’t bear him but he can hardly work atm can he?

Iggly · 05/04/2020 22:20

Surely this news transcends politics.

Yes Boris’ political beliefs are not to everyone’s taste.

But come the fuck on. This is how we show we are better than shit people. We empathise with Boris and his family, empathise with Boris and hope he gets well soon.

Keeva2017 · 05/04/2020 22:57

I’m a raving leftie and was devastated that Boris was our pm. But. I don’t get why people think this government is doing such a terrible job with this. It’s a global catastrophe. With the exception of a couple of issues I think they are doing the best they can right now.

Also how paranoid conspiracy theory obsessed do you have to be to think he’s faked it for goodness sake.

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 05/04/2020 23:01

@Keeva2017 Totally agree with you!

StoneofDestiny · 05/04/2020 23:07

If he needs a ventilator I hope he gets one - but I hope every NHS patient who needs one, gets one too.

PotholeParadise · 05/04/2020 23:18

Keeva Our HCPs are dying because of lack of PPE, and so are other people in roles that require close contact with the public. Five London bus drivers have died.

And our country had more warning and time to prepare than any other country in Europe, due to an accident of geography.

Theresnobslikeshowb · 05/04/2020 23:42

Does it matter whether he’s our PM, A Doctor, A teacher or our a neighbour out of work- he’s ultimately a fellow human being with a girlfriend, children and a baby on the way. I wouldn’t wish Covid-19 on my worst enemy, nor start arguing about who does and does not get a ventilator- that very unfortunate position lays with Doctors.

Sarahlou63 · 05/04/2020 23:54

I wouldn’t wish ill health on anyone - except Trump and Bolsonaro - so I hoped he makes a full recovery and with a fresh insight into the workings of the NHS and the resources they need to treat every patient with the best possible care.

Boris won't be using the NHS.

bonnieclydesdale · 05/04/2020 23:57

I didn't say he didn't deserve one, I said they will be making sure that he has one whereas other people will be deemed not appropriate to have one. There have already been stories in the news of people being told this.

Winnietheshit · 06/04/2020 00:01

Of course he’s using the NHS!!! Why would he need private?!

What’s worrying though is whatever he’s got, they couldn’t sort it out at home. He clearly had been wearing a mask the other night and if that’s not done the trick then it seems a possibility that he’ll be ventilated.

justcly · 06/04/2020 00:11

I wouldn't imagine the PM of this country would dare use anything other than the NHS. I too am a raving lefty but I wouldn't wish this disease on anyone. I hope he recovers soon.

PotholeParadise · 06/04/2020 00:41

Johnson will be using the NHS, whether he wants to or not, if he is in a serious condition. There is no such thing as a private intensive care unit. Urgent, lifesaving treatment is not where the money is, and therefore we don't have a private sector for it.

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 00:43

@Winnietheshit do you mean an oxygen mask? And why was that clear?

Winnietheshit · 06/04/2020 00:54

He had creases on his neck and redness under his nose.

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 06/04/2020 01:01

He'll be fine, they'll have a private room for him with it's very own ventilator whilst somebody else misses out.
Didn't Matt Hancick say that we have enough ventilators at present?

NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite · 06/04/2020 01:02

Hancock (not Hancick). Oops!

j712adrian · 06/04/2020 01:12

He's looked a poorly boy over the last ten days, not fab at all.

Not a fan, but poorly is poorly.

Thymeout · 06/04/2020 01:13

If Hancock said that, he was lying. There are plenty of first-hand accounts from ICU saying they are having to make life or death decisions on patients who would normally be ventilated even if there was only a small chance of recovery.

I don't think he would have been taken to hospital unless he needed more treatment than is possible at home. No 10 has been playing down his illness from the beginning. He was propping himself up against the door frame on Thursday.

The fact that he didn't need an ambulance doesn't mean much. He could easily have been driven to St Thomas' which is just over Westminster Bridge overlooking the Houses of Parliament. He never goes anywhere without police outriders as it is.

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 01:17

If you dont need treatment in the ambulance, it can be quicker to take someone to hospital by car anyway, rather than wait for an ambulance. I know he would be prioritised, but you can't magic up an ambulance if there is not one nearby.

Winnietheshit · 06/04/2020 01:26

I’d say number10 could magic an ambulance. Just guessing, but I reckon...Hmm

Winnietheshit · 06/04/2020 01:29

In fact, I’m astounded at the level of naivety regarding the colossal power of the PM.

alloutoffucks · 06/04/2020 01:34

There are a set number of ambulances and paramedics on the road. If none are physically close by, then the best a hospital can say is we can get there in x minutes. In that case then yes they might advise just going by car. St Thomas is incredibly close by.
It is not about power, but there are not as many ambulances physically as you might think. One would be diverted for the PM, but it still has to be driven from its current location to the PM.

Easilyanxious · 06/04/2020 01:37

Hope he gets better soon and I haven’t read anywhere that lack of ventilators have been an issue yet ?

Keeva2017 · 06/04/2020 02:30

Pothole I’m acutely aware of the lack of ppe. Trust me it’s a personal issue. But this is a global fight. I recognise that with ppe and testing there is global demand therefore it’s not like popping in an Amazon order. The rest of the globe has the same notice as us and like us, most countries are falling short of WHO ppe recommendations. You can’t hold that over our government surely?
