AIBU to feel unusually angry when seeing elderly (80's90's) shopping in Sainsburys today?
Angry enough to be posting here in aibu for the 1st time.
I realise that I am probably naive..but the elderly that I know are self isolating and being responsible...following the instructions we have been given..
I understand that they are likely aware of the risks...but I am trying to work out if I am raging because I'm thinking that if they do become ill..they will expect to be cared for by the nhs.
Quite simply..of the people that I saw today..if they catch coronavirus...baring a miracle...it will be the end for them..Maybe what has made me so angry is that if people are clearly not following the advice (I had thought that most were)...then this is going to continue to spread.
We all have to do our bit.
Happy to be told iabu..but trying to calm myself down by posting here!

I feel the opposite I feel terribly sad when I see them shopping. Many don’t have family around or help my mum would have no idea how to do an online shop not that she would be able to book a delivery

Some of course are just feel it's worth taking the risk I wish they didn’t feel like that

So do I Enthusiasm Sad

Yep YABU and worse your actually being illegal according to the equality act discriminating against someone based on age.

@Darbs76 We don’t live near, she is hours away. Plenty of people offer to help, but she refuses the help because she wants to go herself. Loads of deliveries in her area from independent shops. But makes no difference, she wants to go.

We can’t stop her. She’s capable of making her own decisions. She’s pretty terrifying and will not listen. At least she’s cut it down to once a week from 7x a week.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 01/04/2020 19:45

It’s not up to me to protect her. She understands the risks, worked for the NHS all her life. Wears her PPE I have no idea where she’s got it from, unless she’s kept it from when she was working.

Darbs76 · 01/04/2020 20:24

Fair enough Dobby. I hope your mother remains safe.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 01/04/2020 20:40

@Darbs76 not my mother. It’s my MIL.

My parents are all tucked up, I’m not letting them out. They understand the rules.

MIL is a whole other kettle of fish! She has had MH issues in the past, so I think for her MH it’s better to let her go out once a week. She’s alone 24/7 and it’s not good for her MH.

I still don't get it we are told to stay home if we have to go out stay 2 meters apart. I have no choice I cannot get a delivery despite the struggle I have getting out of my home, then I get bombarded in the supermarket with constant messages to stay away from each other and staff. but the staff are working side by side and don't move if they are stocking shelves when you need something from where they are working. most of the customers just walked round a normal passing each other and at times standing almost together is getting the same item. and the the store has it's air con going and all the fridges blow air to cool the food. so anything in the air is just being blown all over everyone. so it is totally impractical to tell people to stay 2 meters apart. I and high risk but I have to eat.

sorry about typing but hand don't work too well
